This new expansion hates old people

You’ve posted this twice, I told you can rescale the UI.

No you’re exactly nitpicking, I don’t agree with everything he says but I understand the essence of what he’s trying to say.

Okay cool. you’re calling out other ppl for being a child yet you wanna act special because you’re trying to apply some nonsensical “Pull yourself up by your bootstrap” logic

This post reeks of arrogance.

You are confused. When Blizzard chooses to make the game less accessible for people with vision problems, those players are under no obligation to “git gud” at seeing better to make you happy.

I think accessibility is an afterthought at Blizzard. Or maybe how they really feel is like some posters feel. You know the ones who keep telling us that “there’s a guy doing mythic raiding who has a disability, therefore everybody who claims they has a disability is either lying or using their disability as an excuse not to git gud and start doing the hardest content. Which 100% of players are capable of and should be doing, because I said so.”

You are a certified  lmao

You struggled to read something so you’re generalizing that Blizzard hates old people.
Do you not feel like you’re being a bit dramatic?

Which is actually helpful and not at the same time, to be fair. It makes the icons visible (mail and tracking for me are big, as are the talents, etc icons on the bottom).

The issue is it also scales up the minimap to take up a lot of unnecessary real-estate, the action bars also balloon up and take up lots of screen space, effectively shrinking down what you can actually see.

This might be helpful for some folks, but it also creates its own sets of problems.

Personally, I put in my feedback on PTR, where at least it goes to the developers, for whatever it’s worth. Many of the UI changes aren’t bad, it’s a nice option. But coupling them with tiny icons makes it an overall miss in my book.

Hopefully they will address the issue. If not, can only hope someone who can write addons can offer up options if Blizzard chooses not to.

You can scale the UI.

Yeah everything is WAY too small. Not just an old person issue lol, I’ll probably still be using my current addons so I can make everything as big as I want.

Not really a solution. People want certain parts of the UI to be certain sizes. The UI scale changes everything at once.

You can scale each element individually.

If anything, the new UI makes it easier to see many important elements, specially those relevant in combat.

For example:

  • the old UI made it hard to see health bars in the unit frames. They were small and nothing about them would stand out if you weren’t directly staring at them.
  • the new UI allows you to scale each element individually.
  • the new castbar makes it easier to see the current progress with the new spark effect, compared with the old one.

Ignoring the ridiculous, ableist tone-policing in this thread, a good compromise is to add BOTH options.

I said “like a petulant child.” I did not assume they were an actual child. In fact, if I did, I wouldn’t have bothered replying at all. And again, I’m old. I do fully subscribe to the idea that people need to take a little more initiative to help themselves before they seek it.

And I say this as someone who has worked for years in social services. I have seen people in the worst circumstances you can imagine pulling themselves out of it and back into health and stability. People should absolutely ask for help when it’s required, but if your first instinct is to look for help externally? That lack of independence is ultimately self-sabotaging.

Almost always, those people were in my office as a last resort - they tried everything they could to correct their situation before admitting they need help. And they used that help as a crutch to lean on while they mended their life.

Those that came into my office without that drive to help themselves? They became “regulars” who never found a way out. Learned helplessness that eventually leads to a bitter and twisted entitlement.

And speaking of bitter and twisted things, I don’t like the overall tone of this conversation. It’s not going to be productive. So I’ll bow out.

I am just hoping that the authors of all the addons I use update their addons for DF as soon as possible.

I am hoping Blizzard releases their API soon enough for the addon authors to do their work.

My eyes are not the best at my age (67) but I use a large monitor, at just the right distance, so I do not have to wear glasses to see the screen clearly.

The issue I have is the tight packed density on dungeons and raids. Many times I loose track of my character and mouse pointer.

Frustrating.

You weren’t really adding anything productive to begin with other then to feel superior about yourself, I’m not interested in your life’s story.

It was the self victimization in the title for me

It’s the same way how old people complain on Mythic+ where they cant cope up. They want it abolished.

Hey old man, if you cant cope up, just retire.

But you could get around it. Stop playing on your 17 inch monitor. Get a bigger monitor. Modern PC’s can also now accomodate 4k Big TV’s and they are cheaper now.

God, Blizzard can’t do anything about ableist clowns in their playerbase? For the record, I’m far from old myself.

Sadly nope, this is just peak level of stupidity from the WoW community.

It’s to be expected.
