The greater point that demanding this stuff is out of line, and frankly counterproductive. Blizzard does have accessibility options, and the addon community takes that a step further. Making suggestions is warranted. Making demands is not.
That’s a poor example, as wearing glasses is an external step that people can take to make video games more playable. I dropped a few hundred more dollars than I needed to on my glasses to make staring at a screen a little more bearable. I didn’t throw a little hissy fit on the forums because of my issues.
You can even find quadriplegic and blind players that have worked out solutions to accommodate their own challenges so they can actually play the game. You’ll see the odd request for some specific functionality to be added that would assist them in doing so, but not once have I seen a post from that demographic spewing vitriol along with it.
I might have sympathy for your cause if you didn’t claim in your title that Blizzard “hates” you as if these changes were made by some malicious designer who has a bone to pick with old people who have vision problems.
Maybe just try to find a good addon if the default UI doesn’t work for you, as we’ve done for 17 years now.
… is out of line and is just going to have the feedback ignored. Trying to make a suggestion with this mode is just self-defeating and more generally just immature.
I agree, I’m not old, quite the opposite, but I do have major sight problems. All the icons are so tiny and flat. Before they had volume and I colour and I could tell what each icon was, now they are all flat and It’s so hard to tell what’s what. Not fond of the new UI, feels so bland and flavourless.
I’m starting to realize we might have another Tul situation here.
We’re seeing these topics popping out in the GD. They always:
Contain a story about how they are old or have some physical/sensory impairment.
Mention how X Blizzard is doing makes it impossible for them to play (often using hyperbole).
Complain about Blizzard designing the game for a supposed elitist 1%.
It’s not posted from a main character.
It might not be as organized as the Tul thing, but I believe many of these posts are either bait, copycats or just fake in general. Sadly, this might invisibilize real concerns from people with real impairments.
Look, I think his 1% take was pretty cringe but if that’s what you two were fixated on then it says more about you then him.
Keep in the mind there are other ppl with sight issues who would benefit from more accessibility options regardless of how silly 1 person’s response is to the matter.
Not exactly a nitpick on his phrasing - it’s the whole premise of the post. The vision issue is the evidence presented, but the “thesis” is predicated on Blizzard being elitist and hating old people.
Again, I am an old person with bad vision. I would like to see Blizzard make some sort of accommodations when it is beyond my power to make corrections on my own. But I certainly don’t expect those accommodations, and I surely wouldn’t act like a petulant child to demand them if I did.
No one remembers why a kid threw a tantrum. They only remember the tantrum.
I check the Tukui/Elvui discord pretty regularily and their last update (September) said that a lot of stuff was broken. Asking about anything for DF will get you muted per a sticky post so I’m not even attempting. But I won’t play without my ElvUI… Blizzard can’t even compare to the options I get with that addon.
