This Line Doesn't Make Sense

No it’s still the real him. That’s his actual physical body, it’s just people shaped instead of lizard shaped.

They change to a shape mortals are comfortable interacting with because a visage is primarily a tool for interacting with mortals.

You wouldn’t walk into a fancy dinner party dressed in a swimsuit, no matter how good it looked on you.

You’d dress for going to a dinner party.

First of all, he’s never been lizard-shaped, but dragon-shaped. Second, yes, it is technically him, but it isn’t the real him because the real him is a dragon. He didn’t hatch as a human. He hatched as a dragon. His true form is a dragon.
Regardless of what form he takes, he is still a person.

Mortals need to stop being so prejudiced against dragons, then. Transforming into a mortal to get down to a mortal’s level is insulting. I understand shrinking oneself to fit into smaller places, but actually shifting into a lower species is disgusting.

Also, what does a swimsuit and dinner party thing have to do with anything. Dragons should NEVER have to meet mortal standards. Dragons are too far above mortals.

I think the idea is mostly that Wrathion is acting like Little Lord Fauntleroy through much of the expansion.

That’s part of his character though. He believes he is above his brothers and sisters, he grew up in a wealthy manor, his best friend is the boy king. Most of the black flight is even known for living as mortals rather than dragons.

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! Miss! I know the answers!

The line highlights how fastidious and concerned with his appearance Wrathion is in comparison to other dragons. He’s very fussy about how he looks and that’s a characteristic that adds nuance and gives dimensions to his personality.

And a dragon’s visage isn’t just an illusion. If you walk up to a dragon and pat them on the shoulder, you won’t feel a giant being with scales. It’s a true transformation, actual shapeshifting as opposed to a projection.

Like Druid shapeshifting, the shapeshifting also affects clothes for some reason. Where do the boots go when someone is a bear? The answer is

He didn’t hatch a human. He hatched a dragon. His true form is a dragon, anything else isn’t the real him.

Which is really stupid. I wish the dragons would just subjugate mortals by force in their true forms. I couldn’t imagine wanting to befriend a being so inferior in the first place.

Yes, his “true” form is a dragon, but when he shapeshifts into a mortal form, he’s fully in that form. It’s not some kind of projection or illusion. That’s why Anduin could sock him in the face without jumping up and have it actually hurt him, although the shock and impact of it did make some of his scales show up.

He’s always a dragon, but when he’s in his visage form he’s got real clothes, real boots, real hair, he can be punched by a regular human and have it have him reel back and stumble instead of just shrugging it off like he could have if he had the full height and weight of his dragon form on at the time.

Anduin should’ve been torn to shreds by his claws for daring to hurt a superior being.

Yes, exactly.

The same way when a night elf druid shifts into a fat bird or a bear or a cat, they are still a night elf because that is the real them.

The same way when a dracthyr shifts into an elf, they are still a dracthyr because that is the real them.

The same way when a dwarf shaman shifts into a ghost wolf, they are still a dwarf because that is the real them.

Maybe his boots in human form are his dragon colon and thats not muck.

Until we meet again! Skelator runs away

He comes across as somebody who is pretty vain about his appearance. In zaralek caverns during a quest its mentioned that he wears a fragrance.

Sometimes things are said, purely to be relatable, even when they don’t actually happen. to be fair, you still have to suspend reality because even turning into a human means having to put clothes on. imagine getting so philosophically deep on a video game.

Too bad it falls completely flat because the writers are garbage hacks lol

Well wrathion is a diva. He’s not exactly an outdoors kinda person/dragon

If your visage form is an illusion, how can it wear the boots from drops, but your dracthyr form can’t?

Onyxia, is that you?

This I think it’s just humor.

Why do people think it’s serious. It’s a game people. Lighten up!

Nope, just a dragon supremacist.

Imagine going so far as to take up the trade of a lesser being – a hunter using primitive “bows” and “guns” instead of being a proper evoker as your people are supposed to be. I bet you can’t even muster a good fire breath.

Because Blizzard is lazy and doesn’t want to fit transmog onto dracthyr properly.

I’m not speaking as my WoW character, I am speaking as the dragon behind the keyboard.
