This is why you don't want LFD

What I’m saying here is that a QoL change can have more effect than just removing/reducing tedium.

People tend to value the results of work. The work of group formation incentivizes players to value other group members.

It’s a pretty central criticism and while I would like RDF in the game in some form, I haven’t seen a proper response to this.

I see what you mean, and I agree with the idea that changes should be made with consideration of pros and cons.

Wouldn’t battlegrounds be so much better if you still had to walk to the instance entrance?!

There’s no quantifiable proof that RDF began the downward trend. All graphs i have seen show subs high and rising if not steady till cataclysm.

Slippery slope is a fallacy for a reason.

Also this is a game, not a job, not work, people play to have fun generally. SOME tedium is fine, unnecessary tedium is not. look at retail and the rep and farming grinds.

This isn’t accurate. It’s a valid form of argument, and a very specific use thereof is a fallacy.

Work? Setting an add on to spam the LFG channel is not work.

Then why are you trying to make it easier?

It’s not a fallacy if it can be proven, in this case it can’t be.

Depends on what you consider for the downward trend. Can we agree that RDF led to LFR for the WoW design team?

Why shouldn’t it be? You really think players are more committed to a group because they spammed the LFG channel for a few hours? Now they’re just bitter, tired and frustrated with the whole process. That’s a great recipe for toxic behavior.

The dungeon finder largely eliminates that stress and players can actually focus on simply having a good time and getting things done.

The other reason why I don’t like talking about this subject is because people on this forum can’t have a civil discussion on this subject. Outside the forum sure people know how to talk about LFD and other Blizzard hot topics without being rude.

But here I talk about the reasons why I would like it and I get responses like “Oh you spend that much time on your business? Don’t you know that this is a MMO? Go play retail. Stop playing Classic. Stop running our game.”

It isn’t about having not having a backbone. It’s about not wanting to waste my time on people who are not worth the effort. I am intrested in having a "civil’ discussion and I can’t have that here.

I have met about 10 people i have played wow with in person. I cant give you the exact number, but its around there. I didnt go to a blizzcon convention for it, it was mostly random chance.

I have also had conversations with people because they were wearing warcraft themed clothing as well.

I think you messed up your attempt at contraposition here, this logic isn’t valid.

Yes.

I’ve personally said this many time in this very topic.
A compromise would be better. Just like Dual Spec isn’t being outright deleted and they’re looking for a compromise, there should be a compromise for LFD as well.

You moved the goalposts here, if I want to respond to one of your arguments I’ll quote it.

Of course there’s no proof LFD was a problem, if anything the data as in sub numbers shows LFD was not a problem at all.

LFD was in the game for over a year before there was a major sub decrease in Cata and that also coincided with a lot of other changes made in Cata. A lot of which were actually very detrimental to the community, like guild perks.

And you completely ignored my post, which I’m used to. When people have no retort they just change the subject.

Sure and there’s some very reasonable changes that address people’s complaints while keeping the primary function LFD, which is forming groups intact.

All the data shows is what the sub numbers are doing. You can interpret that how you like, but that’s no longer data.
