This is why you don't want LFD

Path of least resistance needs to be the preferred path the designers want. Simple as that.

My level of caring is none of your concern!

But yes, I come to combat the obvi-trolls who claim to enjoy finding groups through rolling chat. The one’s who go on and on about social experiences from said scrolling chat. Classic or not, finding groups through a scrolling chat windows like our long dead ancestors who played EQ in 1999 should be no more.

Not even close.
I wouldn’t want a “join party” button, I want a “send message” button, be a little more social will you?

I’m still going to argue against that. With enough watering down, there’s nothing stopping you from forming groups the old fashioned way. And if Blizzard really, really wants to support “The Community” they should probably start actually incentivizing it. Seeing as how, they basically haven’t ever at all. Negative reinforcement isn’t super effective.

Except it’s not how I choose to approach the process, it’s functionally how the process works.

Playing whack amole with an add on or chat is how you pug groups. And maybe you find that an engaging activity but if so you are pretty easily engaged.

Blizzard should engage the community better, sure, but just as you think they can’t trust us to do it ourselves by removing RDF, I also don’t think we can be trusted to increase community engagement ourselves simply because RDF is there.

Blizzard had to intervene, and their chosen method of intervention was removing a feature that has, for a very long time, been one of the very hot topics and main focal points of many who’ve argued the downfall of socialization in WoW.

Maybe they’re wrong and RDF was completely uncorrelated, but you can’t disagree that it hasn’t historically been assumed to have been at least partially affiliated to that downfall.

I am social, what am I doing right now? If nobody in my group talks i talk and try to connect, communication is a two way street.
I have zero issues being social, so don’t throw that my way please.

If two systems for the same thing exist and one is used more over the other, that should tell you that the underused option is either not working as intended comparatively
or that the new system is preferred by more players over the old one.
LFG didn’t disappear back then because RDF was implemented, both co-existed. LFG didn’t lose its popularity until the new group finder tool was made, not RDF.
I cannot and will not speak to your server at the time unless you played on Wyrmrest or Uldum, but on my servers it still was used either apart from RDF or in tandem with it.

More avenues to accessibility and socialization through options is generally a good thing.

People will always choose convenience over almost anything, regardless of the value it adds or removes from any other aspect of life.

Fair enough. You’re not wrong there. I am very skeptical that a company that has been so hands off about so very many things in this game for so very long, all of a sudden wants to foster the community spirit; and their first major action to do so is deleting a feature instead of adding things in to encourage us to seek each other out more. Instead of adding sub-guilds, letting us join more than one guild, increasing the friends list - no, just delete RDF and hope we take the hint and talk to each other more.

I mean… duh? Why would you wait 3 hours to ride space mountain when you could use a fastpass. Waiting in line is one of life’s least fun activities.

you speak like a girl dreaming of knight on white horse.

you know? there is no socializing at all in forming a group in current tbcc, they just run the dungeon then instantly leave after, because dungeons isn’t a place for socializing in the first place, you can socialize while questing much better or in towns. “or wait no one in current tbcc wants to socialize outside their own guilds” so it’s all false claims that lfd kill social aspects.

But if that’s the cost to guarantee my ride, that’s what I’m going to do instead of posting an ad on a bulletin board hoping that someone with a fast pass has an extra slot for me.

Skipping line for space mountain isn’t exactly equivalent to introducing RDF. There isn’t really anything loss in the process of skipping that space mountain line.

And there really isn’t anything to gain spamming chat either.

What happens when everyone gets the fast pass, Reservations and texts your ride is ready? L

I personally still don’t agree with you distilling group formation down to simply “spamming chat”.

and we’re just going full circle again, we all agree that the user experience of LFG is bad and could use an upgrade, that was never the question.

Imagine criticizing a love for roleplaying on a forum for a roleplaying game.

This only applies when convenience is the only difference between two choices.

In the case of LFD obviously it’s better than chat pugging, since you don’t care who you are playing with the outcome is the same but LFD is a better tool.

For people who genuinely want to play with friends/guildies LFD is not a replace for forming groups since it does not provide the same experience.
