If you can’t see how automating the whole process can have a sufficient impact for some of us to not welcome it, I don’t know what to tell you.
Because you think it won’t affect you doesn’t mean it won’t affect anyone.
Yeah and we don’t think group forming should be that mindless.
Group forming, in and of itself, should be an “activity” on its own.
LFG Bulletin Board doesn’t allow you to avoid social interaction.
I realize I’m probably wasting my time, but here goes: So, they take the average wait time for server-locked RDF. Maybe they update that timer every hour, every six hours, every Tuesday, whatever. (More frequently would be better, but require more computations). Then they just apply that so if you’ve been waiting for a same-server group for longer than the average time, it releases you into the wild blue yonder to wait for cross-server groups. And if that takes forever, god help you because by this point Blizzard has done all they can.
This way, at a certain point, everyone eventually ends up waiting for the same amount of time regardless of what server they’re on otherwise, larger servers will have shorter wait times, and then more people are going to want to transfer or reroll to those servers.
You can just say you dont like it. A system existing doesnt ruin another valid form of group generation.
Clearly the idea of alternate group formation upsets you, and at this point you wont have to worry, and if it does get added later on most will be using it to run low leve content for alts, assumption of course. unless the LFG is removed i dont see why you still wouldnt see groups formed organically as we did back in the day on my server at least.
More avenues for group play is a good thing for online games.
Okay, but why?
speaking about social interaction in getting into groups for tbcc
should i make you a videos for the whole day about joining a group via lfd BB with just 2 mouse clicks? or creating 5man groups with just 4 clicks only?
Are you saying the current chat system works and is an effective tool that completely suits your needs for group finding?
Works well enough for everyone else,
I’ve said many time that I welcome a better interface, just not automation.
Yeah. Sure it does.
I could care less if it’s automated. I could care less if I get wisked away to the dungeon. Forming groups via chat is sadistic on a high pop realm.
Riiiiiight… it’s all the rest of us that are the trolls for asking for this. Keep in mind, some of the same people spamming LFG are also coming here saying they want LFD because they’re sick of using macros and addons and spamming just to form dungeon groups.
To me running a dungeon isn’t just the sole act of appearing at the front of the dungeon, clearing the mobs and bosses, and then teleporting out.
It’s about finding other like-minded adventurers, bravery-willing and challenge-seeking, wanting to storm the defenses of the mysterious keep to root out the mystery of why monsters terrorize the locals.
This is a fully storied adventure that starts with a desire to find locals of similar courage, to take up their sword and steel their wits to overcome the challenges that await within.
Excuse me for sounding corny there for a bit, but it’s part of my point. This is the immersive element of forming a party that makes the game feel more involved and…roleplay-ey.
Just teleporting to the dungeons with randoms you didn’t even field, and then teleporting out as if they never existed to never see again, basically it’s an arcade game. Not a roleplaying game.
Yes and right now it is still mindless, LFD doesn’t change that.
Question, did you come to the forums to fight for lfd?
I could care less if it’s automated. I could care less if I get wisked away to the dungeon. Forming groups via chat is sadistic on a high pop realm.
So you could care more?
Aside from the grammatical error (typo?), we don’t disagree on the fact that forming groups via LFG is a bad user experience and a better interface like the FF14 Party finder UI for example would be much better.
an interface like the one in retail? or where you click a button and are added to a group? That automation, the player still pushes one button and gets a group more often then not. strong level of pedantry in your views of differences.
No, that is how you choose to approach the process.
By implementing RDF you basically engage in erasure of the original method, simply because you couldn’t be arsed to engage with the systems the way the game originally intended.
You aren’t seeking an immersive experience and that’s fine, but look elsewhere for your hyper convenience elements that are implemented almost purely to cater to that, because today-Blizzard is kicking them to the curb.
No, I was already here. But that’s certainly why I’m wasting my time typing in this thread. Did you come to the forums explicitly just to fight against LFD?
Theres no erasure of the old method, the old method co-exists still.
