This is why you don't want LFD

As was I. I actually had these very trolls quote old posts of mine where I was critical of lfd…as if being open minded and changing my view is a bad thing.

Which is the point. They’ll say anything. They’ll make up anything. They’ll 180 shift their line of reasoning post to post. There’s no consistency and endless hypocrisy. Which is why I simply stopped feeding them. I just wish everyone would do the same. It takes two to make a troll effective. With no one to bounce off they’ll eventually go away.

But of course that’s up to each person not to let themselves get baited. Unfortunately even ignored I see the trolls’ posts when someone quotes them. Just another failing in this forum software Blizz has rented.

Ok, I really can’t explain private property to you now. This is no longer productive.

Blizzard has seen that making the game for themselves and not the players lead to a massive drop in profits.

ok i figured it out, youre actually a Final Fantasy player, just here to cause problems, i get it now. your avatar is literally a troll too. pretty easy for you to pull it off considering there are actual people in here trying to have actual discussions about a game they want to continue playing= and have it be enjoyable enough to keep them wanting to.

Yep.

Its how retail lfd goes. even for the ye old heroic for calling quests. jsut there to get the calling. all we ask is on say necrotic boss 3 to not mess up the hook 8 times in a row.

at 8 times…yeah, that kick you have to know is coming. especially since in 50 to 60 leveling you should have seen this like 20 times. its a very common leveling hit on lfd lol. First few times…okay, you are new. its okay. Big red arrow on boss, hear click…move. Hook brings in boss…nuke him.

decently geared these roll off easy enough. Hell many in Retail were nice in LFD 9.0 to 9.1. didn’t have the crafted then to just get you 197 easier.

I had a few trade windows pop up. Dude giving me their drop me not even asking. as a quick check showed yeah…I was the fresh 60 in the crew. I needed that drop, they knew that, they gave it up out of the kindness of their heart.

Nice people are out there.

Now can LFD retail suck? yes. I have been troll kicked by 3 60’s in a guild busting balls. I’ve the people who suck at NW’s boss 3 hook (and boss 4’s icestorm bit).

I have more good lfd anecdotes than bad however really.

Well that and buttheads will be buttheads. Some people are jsut buttheads full time. it won’t matter when or where. they are just gonna be that way.

I would 100% agree with most of this but I think you forgot one People not even if to actually believe that people still socialize through dungeon.

And that even smaller demographic of people that actually do make friends through them they do exist they’re very very rare but they do exist.

Same. Had a very well geared protection paladin and never had any issue getting through heroics with people who looked like fresh 80s or who could have perhaps used a little instruction in regards to their class/spec. Sure it could have gone faster with four equally geared others but whatevs. Things died. Loot dropped. Badges were received. Onto the next one.

I agree with your sentiment, but think that likening WotLK LFD to current status regarding Magisters isn’t really a fair comparison.

Mgt for example is tuned pretty high. While that doesn’t require t6, people who aren’t at least Kara/ZA geared are going to have a very rough time. WotLK dungeons with the exception of the ‘timed’ ICC one were easy in comparison.

Mgt can also be quite rough if you don’t have enough or the correct CC. Having a warlock for banish and either a Mage, Hunter or Rogue is pretty important, especially if not fully geared. The ‘pvp’ boss can be a nightmare even with CC, so I can’t imagine trying to do that with an LFD group where you might get a Retadin, Warrior and a SPriest. In comparison, you basically didn’t use CC in Wrath dungeons except for maybe 1 or 2 (those damn lightning Dorfs).

Realistically though I can’t “need full T6” groups would be elitists. The Mgt gear isn’t any better than T6 (not even sure it’s better than ZA) and certainly not as good as the P5 stuff or badge gear. More likely it’s someone who wants a specific item and is looking for a carry.

Yes he is. Guy has been trolling non stop for over a year just using circular “logic.” Started as an arena forum troll until he started getting lit up on sight so he migrated to classic forums.

the issue with finding groups is getting worse.

and it’s not just about max level dungeons, even while leveling people only get you if you’re way higher than the dungeon level requirement.

Well you know, the playerbase feeds off itself, so its to be expected.

The more I’ve thought about lfd the more I’ve realized how essential it is. It might be the single most important system to the long-term health of Wrath.

To remove it is just suicide for the game.

Wrath will be fine the first months.

Enough DK rolls should have the numbers for lfg to 70.

Its 3+ months later…now the DK zerg is 70+. what happens sub 70?

and thats assuming DK’s are nice. I wasn’t here the first time. I am told a goto setup is 4 dk’s and decent healer. it jsut works and they need no one else. Only the healer is the odd man out. as this was the days of tank DPS dk. well the first run of it. It seems BDK got dps love in retail again.

So the dks may need to be nice and let in 1 or 2 non Dk’s.

I occasionally join things like ZA PUGs that are formed staight out of LFG chat with absolutely no screening involved, I feel these are essentially simulating the LFD tool.

These runs are a straight 50/50 roll of getting past the 1st boss, it’ll often be infested by players who have quite literally zero enchants or gems in their gear, often simply pressing the wrong buttons too. For ZA this is particularly bad as you’re locked right at the start of the run, so it’s a completely wasted lockout.

If I’m making my own groups I will absolutely want to filter out the trash players, missing basic things like gems and enchants or not using readily available crafted/badge gear just says to me that it’s either an incredibly new or bad player, and I just wont invite them.

LFD takes away this power, and condemns me to 50/50 success chance

you example about ZA has nothing to do with LFD, (looking for dungeon) is a tool just for dungeons NOT for raids and you don’t ask people to have enchants / gems to run basic dungeons, even heroic dungeons doesn’t require that.

lfd will help people to see dungeons while leveling, instead of questing in empty world or buying boosts, lfd will help new players to get into dungeons once they reach max level instead of getting rejected by elites who doesn’t wanna socialize or invite any new players at max level for any dungeon, lfd will allow fresh capped character to get some gear via dungeons/heroics so they can be accepted for anything else.

I’d argue that clueless, deadweight players have more of an impact to the overall quality of your run in a 5 man than in a 10man.

I used the ZA example as I simply don’t do 5 man content anymore, perhaps I’ll get some experience of pure LFD simulation over the coming weeks with heroic MGT, especially as there is no rep requirement.

you can 2~3man heroics easily, you can’t do that to 10man raids.

“you can struggle through and just carry the deadweight that has been forced on you” isn’t exactly a shining endorsement.

To expand on this, my server is in the OCE region, this means we get a large amount of asian players from various countries. They are very often of extremely low quality, speak little to no english and generally are very difficult to coordinate and communicate with.

These kinds of players are easily filtered out by a basic screening process of a few simple messages back and forth, with an LFD tool i lose this capability. It goes beyond just a performance issue, it’s just not fun.
