Neither are shamans or rogues, but neither of them need to raid to tank

Are you really complaining about not being able to tank under level 25? Phase One? When there is already barely anything to do besides level and attempt to get all of your runes? Let me guess you also want all of your gear and enchants handed to you on a silver platter as well?
What if you are not in a guild, or at least one that raids? I assume you will have to wait until the main folks get done gearing up to get rotated in, or try and find a LFR group. I like doing dungeons but dont have the time for regular raiding. I have been playin WoW since day 1 and have always appreciate being able to play it like I want. I was always accepting of a piece of gear being hidden behind a raid, but I dont think something fundamental to a class for SoD should be raid gated.

Which isn’t an argument. Some runes require more investment than others. Meta is the single most impactful rune in the entire game. There should absolutely be some investment required to get it. You act like your role in BFD is going to determine your spot for the rest of the Season.

Shaman could not, you’d never have a shaman invited to a raid as a tank before SoD. Hell, you wouldn’t even have a pally raid tank in Vanilla and they have a Protection talent tree.
The point is that they got the ability to effectively tank in SoD as did paladins, but before the first raid. Which means they effectively get to level fresh as tanks, filling that role with their guilds and communities since day one. Locks have to be talented and geared as dps to get a raid spot to have an opportunity to get to tank going forward. It’s not that people want to get it for free. It should be hard to acquire. Harder than it is now even imo. But, that can be done without it being gatekept behind a raid.

The 10m BFD is stupid easy and takes no investment. It’s basically just a slightly more involved 5m dungeon. Just do a pickup group.
You can have an impactful questline without the raid, no one is saying hand it to us, i just never intended on raiding, sod is my casual game
Ill just play shaman tank until next phase though

Warrior aren’t naturally tank, they get to do ONE single quest to get Defensive Stance.
Druid aren’t naturally tank, they also have to do a quest to get their bear form.
Their tanking ability are litterally handed to them after they did SOLOABLE content.
Y’all just trying to rationalize and defend a bad design. Even the dev admitted it. And you’re are there digging deeper.

This is just the first season of content. It is a level 25 ability in a lvl 60+ game. There will be plenty of of raids and time to use the rune.
Just as an aside here. Warlocks are tanking sooner than rogues are, so these arguments are selfish and silly. Rogues need honored with the new faction in order to get their tanking rune, and it’s extremely hard to farm that, you are basically just gated behind random RNG since the rep is only available from bop world drops.
Warlocks are not the only class that has impactful runes behind annoying or extremely taxing investment. Holy paladins get only 1 rune this whole phase and it’s locked behind that annoying rep grind.
There’s one thing to give feedback, there’s another to act entitled and incensed over it.
The Warlock Meta hunting parties was, by a wide margin, one of the most fun things about SoD so far. It was fascinating following the different threads and groups trying to unlock this hugely sought after rune. It got people literally turning over every rock around the World.
The only issue I have with it being locked behind a 10-man raid is that it’s a tad of a let down with how exciting that search was for the community following it – it wasn’t really hard to find in the end, just locked behind content most weren’t doing yet (and allegedly bugged briefly on launch, but not sure that’s been confirmed).
Beyond that – 100% do not care that they locked it behind a raid that most are going to be able to pug in the next two weeks if they want to (at least to the point you need to get for the rune). If anything, it adds to the awesomeness of seeing a lock tank pop into your group – you know what they had to do to get it. That’s. Classic. Wow.
No transmogs. No achievements. No titles. You look at a character model and know they did something cool.
The Meta rune fits perfectly.
And I freakin’ love it.

Most of these posts aren’t ultimatums.
It’s a “raid” only in the fact that 10 people are involved and not 5. It’s an arbitrary designation and I think you are putting more emphasis on it than you should be.
Also really weird that you would be ok with not being able to rogue tank for the next 2+ weeks, but are somehow not ok with being able to target farm meta immediately.
If you don’t want to do the brand new special group content specifically designed for SoD then don’t, but don’t also complain that is where the runes are because that’s obviously where some runes will be.
I mean, im fine with waiting, i said that, i dont have time or energy to look for raid groups, just 5 mans with friends
10man BFD is as casual as it gets. You can literally pug for the rune tonight if you want to.
You probably won’t clear the last two (at least not without a dispel), but you don’t need to for the rune.
If anything, having a hugely popular rune in this raid encourages people to actually go and try it who otherwise might not have. That’s literally the point of this season.
The time that it would take to find a pug and then clear through woupd be too much, i only have 1-2 hours a day to dedicate to sod, some days zero
Between work, my m+ group, and playing other games with my wife when she doesnt want to play sod
So ill just wait til next phase when they temove the raid part, its fine honestly
They are constantly being pugged, the same as 5 mans, in chat. You are just tossing up your hands and saying “I don’t want to” because the word “raid” is involved.
