We have to complete the raid as dps to unlock the ability to tank. Not to mention all the other PITA steps. Why? This is ridiculous. I wanted to tank while levelling. Why do shamans get that privilege? Even formed a raid to get the staff and orb early at level 18 only to find out it doesn’t matter cuz need to run endgame dungeon and raid to finish this. Like why are you being so withholding on this? The entire reason I am on SoD is to lock tank and I didn’t expect it to be the most gatekept rune preventing me from doing it until I’ve already finished the current endgame. No meta tanking RFC, WC, VC. And can only tank content you’ve already ran.
Edit: Blizzard admitted that this was a mistake and that they will be removing the raid requirement and future runes won’t require raiding to obtain.
I’m not “demanding everything handed to me on a platter” I literally formed a raid to do a level 25 tower and a level 30 tower. I’m asking to not have to do all the content in the game before I can play the game how I wanted to play to begin with.
If the way to finish it up was level 30 enemies in the open world I’d be fine with that. But gatekeeping it behind the raid is ridiculous. Most of us want to tank the raid.
I demand that I not have to complete the game to play the game. None of the gameplay altering runes should be behind the raid. Passive buffs runes? sure. That’s like getting an item upgrade. But this is a rune that defines gameplay.
Shamans can heal without it. Locks cannot tank without it.
I’d prefer to practice is on low level dungeons as I level like every other tank in the game besides rogue which has to be level 20 but still doesn’t have to do the raid.
At least you’ll be able to tank from 25-60 and beyond!
Of course, I understand your excitement to try out some of the new tanking class/specs, and not enjoying gatekeeping. Hopefully it’ll be fun for you once you do actually get the rune!
Agreed. Everyone should be able to get it by level 15. Hide other runes that aren’t tanking or healing for new classes behind the endgame. Hell I already died a bunch storming a tower with level 25+ mobs. I put in some hella effort running around the game.
I’m fine with working for it. Make it an elite solo challenge that scales with your level. Just don’t make me complete all the content available in the game right now in order to get it.

Never in WoW’s history even when it was the most pita have you had to complete endgame to access an alternate way to play. The closest is hero classes requiring a character of a specific level.
Imagine if for druids to get bear form they had to finish molten core in vanilla. That’s how redic this is.
I dont see it as a demand this is more of Blizzards abuse for user count. This is a literal Honeypot to trap players which they say nothing about about eventually or anything of the sort . All a player sees is it is an option and the playerbase is left to wonder when they get it. One could almost believe it false advertising as it is end Phase 1 content only. everything else will be just about greyed out. So your post makes is sound like it’s ok for Warlocks to only get 1 or 2 dungeons and the raid to play in. If that is the case then by that logic Pal/Dru/ War shouldnt get taunt til then either. Mages can even heal before that it is ST but still a heal. In a decent World Meta would be in a modest level like 12 to 15 perhaps so viable for all dungeons.
Yeah this kind of kills my fun. I am a pvp exclusive player. Now I can’t even get the basics of my class without raiding every 3 nights. Who green lit this? Horrible idea.

Mostly the problem is that its an incredibly griefable chain at multiple steps, especially the last one that will be undoable if an enemy player or group of players decides to camp the portal and screw you on a PVP server, which they will be very soon.
