I see a lot of people posting “It’s 1.12 why are you surprised about 1.12 AV”
I just want to say that this is not meant to be 1.12, it’s meant to be Classic. The patch that they’re building off of is simply a foundation for the game…they’re developing it on the modern client after all. This is supposed to be an experience of Classic WoW and not a particular patch.
Long AV battles were one of the most iconic experiences of Warcraft and they should be in this new experience which Blizzard is building. Many of us are going to play Classic because we want to revisit the past, but people who have never played back then will want to experience all the legends they heard about. If you water this experience down for those players, you’re robbing them of the entire purpose of this great project. If they cannot experience Korak the Bloodrager in Classic WoW…where are they to go?
This doesn’t only pertain to AV but extends to all fundamental and iconic aspects of the Classic experience. I hope that Blizzard revises this decision, and I hope to have more discussion on things like Loot Sharing and Sharding before they announce their final decisions.
Yes, and Classic was described to be built on the foundation of 1.12, or that they will be basing most of their decisions around 1.12 because they said they believed this is the best patch. This is why we are getting 1.12 itemization, talents, balances, quests, etc… Basically everything you can think of is 1.12 besides the obvious content gating. So when they made this decision it should have been a surprise to no one.
Yes this is classic, and classic is built around 1.12. Whether you like it or not.
So just curious do you want them to change AV every phase? Because every patch basically had a major change to Alterac Valley. I mean if you’re wanting a true Authentic experience.
P.S I prefer the 1.12 version of AV, considering it’s the most balanced version. Also it doesn’t give more honor then every other BG by a huge margin making the others obsolete in comparison for a ranker.
I hope they will also consider allowing 10 man dungeon runs, i dont care if Quests can’t be done while in groups bigger than 5, it would still be quite fun IMO
Combining changes from various patches makes the game not vanilla, but then the no change crowd started changing the definition when 1.12 was announced.
We’re lucky to be here having this conversation. It wasn’t too long ago that “Classic” was only a collection fond memories.
So, if they’ve decided to recreate this game we love. And they decide 1.12 is it. Then 1.12 it is.
Is it 1.12 summer yet?
I seem to remember that bwl was already available during 1.12.
No changers have always supported changes within the scope of vanilla. One would think that would make you happy because potential changes would make hybrids stronger and more viable.
Lol jesus christ now you guys are turning on vanilla versions of the game. Whats next we say the nail in the coffin was 1.12 talents and we need to go back? 1.12 AV was just fine, it still potentially took hours to do. The ‘zerg’ fest didn’t happen until TBC. Yeah it RARELY happened in vanilla when you had a premade group that was lucky enough to hit the same que and the other team decided to not turtle but come on…
No it doesn’t that’s still just time gating. Some other good examples, as far as we’ve heard we’re not getting 1.1 MC, we’re getting 1.12 MC at release of classic.
