Yep.
Or we see in 10 levels if the loot fairy likes us. If not, off to new painful butt whoopings in the next bracket of 10.
I drive to 60 on one alt. I deem sub 60 pvp a meme from current gearing options. Worst case all I ask is other side ends match quickly. No need to draw this out when its gone to crap.
At 60 I see the pvp fuller set for the s. priest. Still crap versus twink 69 (70’s for av), but I can say I tried for 60 to 69. On the 70 ding I will rush to brutal, ofc.
the punchline there is that WG marks will be turned in by my 80’s to cover lacking honor.
Hell its been done already. My s.priest pvp has been heavily funded by WG mark turn ins for the the honor packages.
The thing is I had the 4 80’s for this in WG since about 2-3 months in (for all at 80). New(er) players…would not have that option.
Also the well geared twinks have the blues that bury even this gear really.
Odd my first thought was, Dam! looks like they are having fun! I immediately look up the gear they have and start Min/Maxing so I can have fun and play the game. Of course this is because gear based PvP is extremely exciting and only play RPG PVP (gear based PvP) since it’s a far superior genre of PvP.
Counterplay starts with Gear/Builds. I spend as much time Theorycrafting gear and builds as I do playing the game. It’s extremely fun to come up with various build/gear counters.

Agreed. It’s fun to try new builds and gem choices, that is as much fun in and of itself as watching your character grow in power as you pump the work into them.
Twinking isn’t cheap, either. Crafters have the chance to make a lot of money off of twinks if they pay attention to what gems/chants etc twinks are using.
Before the retail split exp. off, I was making a killing off of MoP inscription patterns for the shoulder enchants, and selling crusader/mongoose enchants on a low pop server for hundreds of gold.

Yea they really killed a core aspect of an MMORPG. Real shame.
Yea it can be more fun then max level. It also provides something we all seek which is having it be more like a sandbox and immerse ourselves into an MMO.

If I recall, someone once told me that it used to be called “tweaking” (not the drug term), because you “tweaked” your character to min/max, and then it got turned into the term “twinking” as an insult and kinda just stuck.
A twink from retail named notorious told me that, but no idea how true that was, buit it made sense, since you are tweaking your character to be just right.
And yes, it is way more flexable to me than 80, and a lot more fun.
The argument of “oh you twinks can’t cut it at 80!” is so funny to me.
My husband is a literal Grand Marshal, and he twinks, too.
He put the work into that 80, and also his 79 twink pally, and an upcoming rogue who I feel he put dang near as much work into, if not more to get them just right.
Plus who brings a knife to a gun fight? PvP isn’t supposed to be rainbows and unicorns, it’s supposed to be a brutal war lol.

Umm… We didn’t get XP from battle grounds back then. We always had twinks. In patch 3.2 we started gaining XP in BG’s with the option to turn it off (it’s how I lost my level 19 twink rogue as I didn’t read the patch notes and chained BG’s). The XP locked people did not have their own queues at that time as far as I can remember. I’m very certain separated queues came out later.

no stop crying, people been crying about twinks for 20 years, bgs are not there for you to lvl in anyways, just an option.

XP from bgs was added in patch 3.2 though. That’s when the separation happened.
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Patch_3.2.0
Players with experience gains turned off who compete in Battlegrounds will face off only against other players with experience gains turned off.
Right now twinks are having their cake and eating it too. And as you can see, it went entirely as predicted.

“Bgs are not there for you to lvl in anyways.” This past weekend I was getting up to 12 bars of xp for a WSG win. I went from lvl 10 to lvl 38 casually playing WSG lol. It’s without a doubt the best xp available during BG weekends. Absolutely no one was crying about twtinks once they went xp-off vs xp-off except the twinks themselves lol. Do you even play the game? Your comment is asinine. BGs aren’t pvp anyways - the real pvp was killed in retail a long time ago and Grobbulus, as you may know, is the only server in Wrath that currently has any at all because all the hardcore players that make hardcore comments turn pvp servers into pve servers because they can’t handle being the underdog.

Already a dub right there. Most of my friends, if I tell them, hey check this out, lemme show you something cool, they’d already have wandered off to clean up their infant’s puke or gotten into a draft kings sitngo or some crap like that, long before a queue as slow as low level WSG can pop. To be fair, I wouldn’t show them garbage like low level BG’s… that’d be almost like starting Star Wars movies with phantom menace.

For a bit more anyway.
With rdf we get options here soon. I like pvp but only in the 70’s then level cap. I’d rdf it till then and slum it in AV’s for honor.
Same thing I did for retail. Pvp not touched till the end and level cap really.
I do sub 50 stuff since no choice. and a high tolerance of BS lol. with a nice dose of apathy. If needed to I can num lock to my doom to avoid afk reporting. I’d take more fun and uplifting xp ofc. Oct 10th comes for that.
CTA ab comes this weekend. time to see those naxx twinks come soon as my s. priest work to 60.
I like naxx twinks. They are at least honest about it. They got gear fomo locked and they know it. And they at least raided for it.
The last leveler I had here we had a naxx twink. But sadly…the other side had 3 of them. I will let you guess who won those match ups.
Ashbringer hurts to get hit with. I found that out. A few times.
Yeah, non-twinks obviously aren’t going to bother with BGs once RDF comes out cause why would they? Twinks made their own bed and all that.
then classic will be truly retail in a funny way.
retail (attempts at, retail makes it harder in some ways) twinks complained about dead pvp too.
Lfd or getting my butt tore up in battle for gilneas was not even a choice. LFD won.
what? out of all the horrible arguments ive seen in this thread to keep twinking around this was a waste of time typing lmao
But to the others yes, I assume once people wisen up to using LFD over BGs for leveling until cta, twinks will be playing amongst other twinks mostly and more than likely that will spoil their fun. Shouldn’t be forcing people trying to level out of bgs but hey it’s going to happen.
I like how you just get aggressive and mad at the end lmao, fit your little epeen somewhere else. Twinks were removed from original WoW for a reason and in blizzards words “griefing” So I’m not sure exactly how it’s whining to want to BG at low level brackets without getting one shot by twinks? We had one round where there no twinks in the 20-29 bgs and it was insanely fun and I’m glad he got to experience a good low level bg round and me aswell I havent had that in a long time, reminded me of the old days.
And getting beat is fine for us it’s not a biggie, but being one shot and basically forced to either watch our twinks win us the game or be farmed at gy by enemy twinks is just not so tempting to Que for again. These people turned off exp to treat level x9 as end game and should be forced to only play with others who do the same. As it is their ENDGAME, they geared for it as if it’s end game, they don’t level anymore, they spent weeks getting max gear to play for that reason, an impossible task for non-twinks as they’d level out of the bracket before ever achieving the BIS.
I can live with it, it makes me roll my eyes and if we get farmed i just talked everyone into not ressing, turn on youtube or TV for a bit, get something to eat and let the twinks get bored, xp is still good. This isn’t a matter of “get good” it’s a blatant and undeniable unfair problem low level bgs have that was fixed long ago and is now a problem once again.
But for newer players… or people who want to try and experience something different… this is BAD look and will lose subs.
Im conflicted on this because I totally understand what you’re saying… but i also really love twinking. I only twink in the 79 bracket though so hopefully im less of a deviant.
Cata condenses the pvp brackets more (20-24, 26-29, etc) which helps with low level pvp by closing the level gap more. This helps some. Though twinking at the top of some brackets is still a thing.
Tip: The 19 bracket is always the worst and the most popular and imbalanced for twinks. So if you’re going to show a new player maybe wait until after 20.

We’ve actually quite enjoyed 20-29 so far! Theres a few twinks and ofc if the enemy has one 2.5k hp twink druid running the flag nothing you can rly do but for the most part twinks aren’t all to common here and the pvp is quite chaotic and enjoyable

Yea after 19 the brackets won’t be as toxic. Plus after that youll start getting some better gear yourselves and more abilties to defend yourself/outplay, and it wont be as one-sided.
Whenever i introduce other pvp-minded friends to wow, i always avoid the 19 bracket for their benefit. Getting to 20+ is easy enough and worth the wait.
My concern would be though when people to experience classic WoW their first experience in a bg is unfortunately a poor reflection and it wasn’t an issue that even crossed my mind until my friend said something so thought Id come voice it here. I wouldn’t even be miffed if level 19-59 twinks were abolished by switching exp turn off to only 60+ but 19 twinks hitting 600 with auto attack aint it… once players can attain pvp gear and better abilities to defend themselves from the discrepancy its not as big a deal
and some comments I had to ignore were talking about skill in the 19 bracket and im just like whaa-- 600 auto attack on non-twinks say wha… it’s really just griefing for griefings sake that’s how I have to view it.
Yea i understand. It probably does turn some players away.
I remember when i first played the game though, back in TBC. I stepped into a 19 bracket BG and got slaughtered. It didnt turn me away. Rather, it made me want to be more powerful and it drove me to continue the grind to someday feel that power. So it might not have a completely negative effect on everyone.
I do really think cata improves this a lot. You wont have the problem of queing into a BG with a bunch of fresh level 10s, vs an enemy team of 19s. It exasperates the twinking imbalance. When they are cut down to only a 4-level bracket, it helps a lot actually.
