This game feels way too chaotic for beginners

I’ve never started a game reading a Manuel lol what and nobody I know starts by reading a game Manuel either

Edit 1. I think we should all stop fighting and talk about the original post. I think tensions got tense with the trolls from before so it would do to be more productive now that they’re gone.

Didn’t classic come with a manual? I swear I used to have one.

At higher levels the story quests are actually a different color. I think they are an orange type color compared to the normal yellow quests. And I think they are the only ones that appear on your world map. But at low levels you just do any quest you want.

With the scaling they implemented to the game you can stay in one zone and do all the quests or you can travel between zones and do whatever you want.

And the campaign is only for high level toons. No campaign for lowbies. And WoW isn’t like the mmo’s that come out now-a-days with tutorials. You learn by doing or asking. Asking in chat will prolly get you some stupid answers but you’ll also find people who are helpful. Could always ask in forum if you can’t find answers anywhere else.

Haha HMMM could always ask in the forums she said. I wonder how many of these comments have been helpful :joy: most are unrelated random trolling, but by god we will figure it out!

Edit 1. Doomaxe really? Campaign is for those who are lvl 120? So it’s not necessarily “earned” then because you get a free lvl 120 char just for buying the expansion. Also the orange is slightly helpful honestly.

And lots of people I know do. That new player guide-- takes ten minutes to read and gives a very good and brief overview of things. That’s why it’s there. The fact that you didn’t take advantage of it or think to have your brother read it isnt the point. The point is that there are easy ways to learn how to play with that guide and the in game tutorial.

There is no campaign in anything except the Class Hall Campaign and the War Campaign. That’s it. And that’s new within the last two expansions. The rest of this game has no campaign. You get the storyline of each zone which all links together for the expansion story.

My daughter did the same thing but it was in Morrowind. She was five and I let her play about one hour weekly. She mainly ran around the forests and explored. She’s 16 now and occasionally plays Skyrim. :grinning:

Yep and it had things in it like Dwarf mages and First Aid being a primary profession. :slightly_smiling_face:

If you didn’t keep up with first aid you were screwed.

I still have my manual. It’s on one of my bookshelves. I’m still unsure if I’ll play classic.

I have never played as a dwarf before, or selected engineering. What is the point of either of those two things? Like is engineering basically like blacksmithing ? I think the tutorials should explain in elaborate detail and compare and contrast the professions.

Just quest. Does it really matter if it’s “main story” or “side quest”? Some are just funny, some boring, some just show you where things are. Just do the quests you see and stop worrying about what is “main” and what is “side”. When you started did you know any of that?

Vendor them if you can’t use them. Go to a fansite and look up what it’s for. That’s what all of us had to do when we first started playing. Why is it so different today than 14 years ago? If anything, with a friend or relative that know’s what’s what, it should be easier.

Frankly, it is us…“veteran” players…the brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, friends, sig o’s, etc…that make things hard on newbies.

Just let them explore. Just let them play. Just let them figure things out. Stop letting them get on your accounts (that’s against the TOS anyway) and just let them be.

The game is absolutely NOT confusing. It just takes some time to learn what things are and what they do and where to go and what is and isn’t important. Let them have the experience…the thing that made us love the game…the exploration and the screwing up and all of it.

Where’s the fun in that?

Besides, that’s what Google is for…

Yes it is confusing! And everybody can’t play WoW then stop playing wow to go on the internet, window their game, just to look it up. We can’t assumr everyone can afford a smartphone to look it up either. Also… you can post twice in a row? Lol jealous !!!

So, your brother has unmanaged ADD and that’s Blizzard’s fault?

No, this game is not hard to understand. Your brother has been probably been playing COD and Fortnite forever and is used to games that don’t have much to them.

WoW is not a complicated game.

Wow that’s a trollish remark. You should be banned from this discussion!

First thing that popped into my head when I read this. He’s not even trying to hide it.

I’m sure there are player guides out there that do. But a base guide from the gaming company is supposed to be a brief overview to get you started, not get into such details. Everyone will like different things when it comes to classes, talents and professions.

Why? We all did back in the day. And I still do with different games. It’s an MMORPG not a children’s board game.

His brother is 7 years old. Don’t start insulting people with poor assumptions.

You should stop threatening people. Point out their comment was insulting and why, but if you keep up those sorts of statements, you’ll see them backfire on you. I know a few people who did similar and ended up with vacations. Just fair warning.

As I now can’t tell my brother how so many people were eager to provide insight into helping him. I would have liked to physically show him how great people are, instead im trolled and he disrespected all because I asked. Yet blizzard won’t allow me to moderate my own post because it would hurt your feelings if you can’t hurt mine? How disappointing this experience on something owned by Blizzard was.

Yeah totally the architect. Same MO as last time. He probably got another forum vacation on thearchitect so he’s back on another of his alts.

Why is everyone following me around on all of my posts trolling me. and calling me somebody else… just what? Why…, what does that make you?
