This game feels way too chaotic for beginners

Just when you thought WoW couldn’t be more basic, forward, and dumbed down.

This is why WoW is in the streamlined horrible shape it’s in today, this is why classes are dull, this is why we don’t have pvp vendors, this is the reasoning behind a lot of things.

When I was new in TBC I still had my epic lvl 40 robe equipped at lvl 70

The second they dumb this game down to be easily figured out by a 7 year old is the day I throw this computer into a fire.

7 year olds can BARELY use their brain. How many things do you even remember when you were 7? The game should never be designed around that.

Icy veins is a site designed to help existing elite players master a new spec fast. Until recently that was the only help on the site. A brand new player with 3 spells could look on that site and see a rotation with 12 spells or procs, none of which they had, and a list of critical max level gear that was a must have for your spec.

So you’re opposed to there being a way for new players to learn how to play, because you taught yourself everything you know and geared up to BiS the second day you ever played. And never had help from anyone!

What an amazingly bootstrappy person you are!

Yep. There should never be a new player to the game. New players are stupid. Who needs new subscribers? Why, there’s plenty of existing raiders for your guild to poach!

Yes, very much so. This game is already dumbed down to a point where a young child could figure it out. It doesn’t need to be dumbed down any further.

They should increase your sub cost to make up for the players who have quit because of your attitude.

then you’re not trying very hard, because WoWhead, for all it’s faults, is great for helping to figure out where to go and what to do. use the comments sections.

and run an ad blocker

oh are you serious right now? who the heck cares if a 7 year old can’t figure out an MMO.

Well if your starting at level 1 it shouldn’t be hard to figure out. Any quest you see is worth doing and you have like 1 or 2 buttons to push. Yea someone who never played the game will be completely lost on a level 120.

?
There isn’t a sotryline quest.
The sotryline is per zone and when you finish all chapters(aka the quests) then you are done with it and can move to another zone.

I’m fairly certain WoW had millions and millions more players when it wasn’t this dumbed down. Perhaps dumbing it down this far had something to do with the millions who left and never showed back up? lol

Sure, looking down on players and trashing them as 7 year olds is a time-proven retention strategy.

The game needs new players. The elitist attitude of too much of the playerbase guarantees that most will leave before even leveling up.

because it doesn’t cater to a SEVEN year old?

I’ve heard some ridiculous things on this forum, but this might top the list

What are you, 7 years old?

How does the game “cater” to 7 year olds? You have your elite content, but that’s never good enough for you.

I don’t look down on players and I didn’t bring up anything about some 7 year old.

Yeah, and dumbing it down even more doesn’t seem to work.

Elitist attitude of not wanting the game dumbed down even more?

Are you serious? lol

Hmmm 7 year old brother is ahead by two grades and has read the hobbit and understands it. He played the original Warcraft tides of darkness and beat all campaign missions and designed some sweet scenarios himself. Soooo come again?

I never said that. The OP is implying it should. He’s complaining that the game is too difficult for newbies, and because his seven year old kid brother is having trouble doing extremely basic stuff in it.

It’s a ridiculous argument and this is probably just a giant troll.

It’s actually difficult for adults as well. Oh but I’m now a troll because I created a post you don’t agree with?

Difficult to stay subbed, yeah. Difficult to play, nope.

That’s because this isn’t FFXIV and prior to BfA there weren’t really “main quests” and “side quests”. Zones tell their own localized stories most of the time and either all of it is slightly relevant to a potential larger story or basically none of it is.

BfA changes that up a bit by directly funneling you into the zone’s dungeon with a “main” story, leaving you with a bunch of generic unimportant quests to filter through afterward. But That’s pretty intuitive. Dungeon quest finished? Grats, you’re done with the relevant story outside of the War Campaign.

That’s probably fair. I feel like by the time you start getting the various currencies, you’re well out of the “tutorial” stage of the game. So if there isn’t one, perhaps they should have a tutorial pop-up for currencies at some point. Maybe they need to incorporate a quest that gives you some early on to explain it, and add a tooltip explaining where to go to use any currency you may acquire regardless of the status of that quest.

As I said, this isn’t FFXIV. There isn’t a main campaign to follow for the vast majority of the game. Honestly this is the statement that makes me keen to take the side of those calling OP a troll / architect alt.

So it’s all about you and your need to trash players who had nothing to do with the devs’ obsession with simplifying the game for the purpose of making future development cheaper?

The game has not been “dumbed down” to cater to anyone. Everyone is worse off. Get down off your pedestal and stop blaming other players for what the devs decided to do, which has hurt every player.
