They Wanted to Kick Him Because He Didn't Talk, Then His Mom Messaged Me

The thing is I have multiple toons I play on the 30 min debug means nothing to me I can just run a m+ key on a toon for Nate’s of playing that leveling toon or whatever

This is faulty perspective once again if you remove perspective and look at the situation objectively in third person. Complaints about vote to kick abuse have existed for 16 years as long as the system itself has existed. Brushing off human experience of others is once again a human psyche issue not a numbers issue.

I remember I got kicked once on my disc priest for doing damage.

as a disc priest. Who’s main way of healing is by doing damage.

A person can be smart. People are often stupid.

This. People just click it mindlessly the same way they accept cookies when it pops up on a new website.

I was in a TW dungeon over the weekend, and there were literally 3 people trying to kick each other and writing insults back and forth through the vote kick system. No one was actually kicked, but the healer was so annoyed they dropped, because the guy that started it all was also the only person that kept dying because he couldn’t stay out of bad stuff.

So yeah, people are seriously immature in vote kick, and it’s even sadder that the tank in the OP, who is 14, was probably more mature than the adults that had them kicked.

We are not far apart in age, and I only have an extra 8 months on you. While I feel for this kid, and had a similar rule for both of my kids, the issue is not a Blizz issue. It is a parental one. The best thing they could do for the kid is find a very family friendly and oriented guild, ensure it’s a safe place for them, and then keep them within the confines of the guild. While it may not be fair to the kid, they are still just a kid. So when they turn 18, and move out, they can do as they please. But for now, responsible parenting should win out over a video game loaded with some pretty nasty people.

I won’t dispute individual intentions with the VtK system, my point however was since its not something reportable or actionable there would not be data to use to show what amount are abusive and which are valid.

Which also pulls on individual ethics and such too. “what’s justified to one might not be to the other”

Oh there is never a shortage of reasons why these ideologies don’t work.

Objectively, per how VtK works, then there is no kick that is considered abuse. So again, a faulty premise. This is per objective and provable wording. You cannot prove what was and what wasn’t an abusive kick because there are no metrics involved in the system to differentiate.

Do you want objectivity or do you want anecdotes?

Data is based off of information. It’s not a political or moral issue. It’s numbers.

If those lived experiences are verified as accurate then they can be used as information. Going blindly off unreviewed information will cause your data to be faulty.
So again, objectivity or anecdotes?

And without doing the leg work of verification those numbers do not matter to the whole.
“jimmy got kicked and this happened” with nothing to corroborate the occurrence is worthless information when talking numbers.

I hope you know that your post will mostly be met with the responses of “working as intended”, “you’re not getting the whole story”, “people are liars”, and other such troll nonsense. Mostly by the same 12 people. lol

I had a lot more freedom as a kid, but I get it.

Anyway, vote kick went through. Nothing to be done, this isn’t going to be a common occurrence for the kid. It also seems possible the kid hammed it up because they want to talk in-game, so I don’t think it’s right to take “kid cried” as a reason to uproot player agency.

theres absolutely parents who are like that. just because yours werent doesnt mean no parents are.

This is the only problem, and there isn’t anything you can do to fix it really.
We have let our son play but me and my husband always play with him and his chat is turned off, and if someone asks him a question that needs answered we just answer for him.

Parents do what they think is best and I agree with them 100% with cutting out the communication. But vote kicks happen, and that’s fine. It’s a learning moment as well. We don’t have to be liked by everyone to have fun.

In the future, one of the things you can do is say publicly for everyone to read/hear, is no.

No valid reason to kick the tank. Then continue to do whatever it was you were doing.

If that makes you uncomfortable, you can ask publicly for everyone to read/hear:

“Why do you want to kick the (whatever role/name of toon)?”

It’s also really great when you’re on a hunter or rogue and can deflect aggro to the troublemakers but that’s another story.

Well, we’re not cowards that alt hop.

Yet another great reason why being kicked giving you a deserter debuff is stupid.
