Least on the forum, swearing is the only thing mods seem to actually deal with.
Letting obvious troll threads fester for hours, but the oh so terrible “swear” words? Removed within minutes regardless of context or nuance.

Sure thing,
I was on my way to work - roughly 6:30-6:45 in the morning. On my major interstate I saw a white/silver pickup swerving across 3 lanes back and forth.
I called the cops and told them I think that this person is drunk and is on the interstate. I told them I could get a plate and I heard them repeat the same thing I told the operator phonetically to their dispatch channel
This right here is why my analogy works. This situation is up for interpretation
Neither are really true statements. The mods are not around 24/7 and they mostly depend on reports from all the Blizzard forums. They don’t just sit there watching. It results in very inconsistent moderation, for certain. It is not really intentional that one is left up and the other dealt with though.
That doesnt quite answer my question.
Because you arent giving me any evidence that the person in question was pulled over specifically for what you saw. If they were pulled over, it would be because of future driving issues. If the person straightened up, they wouldnt get pulled over at all.
It would be like if you reported a person in game, and all it did was tell a GM to start looking at live chat to see if they messed up again.
way to troll.
Would depend on context. If the words were directed in a derogatory way at another player, then perhaps. If they are just exclamations of frustration in general, then probably not.
No, it does.
I could not follow the guy to make sure because he suddenly sped up to over 100 and I wasn’t going to do that. However, I did hear the dispatch guide them toward the exits I was passing (because I was relaying it). one could only assume they took action to at least investigate the report.
The same thing applies to the game when you report someone. However, there’s an automated bot that lets you know when your report did something. We don’t have that irl
Ahrimyn is correct though that if you see someone that appears to be impaired or having a medical emergency - resulting in very dangerous driving, you can call 911 and give the information. The police will need location, vehicle description, and plate if you can get it. They will dispatch an officer to observe the driver, and may even pull them over based on the report - then do a sobriety check. Depends on the local/state laws for that department as to what procedures they follow.
Yes, millions play, but only a few thousand use the forums. They just don’t have the staff for 24/7 moderation. It is frustrating, for sure. I have complained about some of the horrible threads that stay up overnight too. I don’t see Microsoft allocating more budget and staffing though.
Worse, I fear eventually they WILL start using AI, or just close the forums totally.
For now though, we have the forums and a small staff who do moderation in addition to their other jobs.
Wow what a horrible way to live. You poor thing.
You are missing the point I am trying to make that points out the huge difference.
If I report someone in game, they see the exact infraction I saw.
If I call the cops on someone, they merely show up in the area and see if the person messes up again
I didnt say anyone was incorrect to give that information to the authorities.
Yes.
If they see them mess up again
They will not get pulled over because a random person called in. They have to see the infraction. Which means the infraction that got reported (called in) is not the same.
False. Watch any cop show. They pull vehicles over based on verbal reports all the time. They match the plate and pull them over to investigate.
So your argument
Is that based on watching a tv show.
That the cops will pull over anyone based on a random person calling in and giving a license plate and a story? Nothing else. Just “I saw license plate BLAHBLAH serving”. A cop shows up, sees no infraction himself. Pulls over the car.
Could you imagine if that is all it took. lol.
Ah yes, TV. Where everything including the entertainment is actually real
That is not always true…
They can take citizen reports of suspicious or dangerous behavior as justification to pull over someone, investigate an area, stop and talk to a person. Again, depends on the local laws.
Its your prerogative to stop at surface level. However, you can easily follow up with finding arrest records off of information from the TV shows.
Good luck giving a ticket with no evidence but a random person phone call.
That would be the easiest thing to get dropped in any state.
good thing i roll with a dash cam haha
Except blizzard has logs of everything. You know… evidence.
Yes thats my point.
