They really ban players for swearing

Yeah that never happened

are you sure it was that word that got you banned? because goofie seems like a harmless word

If you caught a ban then not your 1st rodeo huh OP?

Then to top off your ban you come and put a forum vacation cherry on it!

Fantastic!

I would love to see Vrak or Orlyia tell the OP what they really did.

Because it’s against the TOS :dracthyr_shrug:

i would love for a mod to post what i did i said goofie.

I don’t know why you think the forum mods are AI. They are very much real people, people who have been with Blizzard for almost as long as WoW has existed. Vrak, Orlyia, etc. are not AI.

So far, they do not use actual Artificial Intelligence for anything here. The forums don’t even usually use template/form letters like the GMs do.

AI seems to be the latest trend to throw around as though it was an insult…beware what you speak of though. Eventually they just might actually have AI tools and not depend on player reports or forum mod review.

Just the latest Blue on the whole “AI” theory.

Let me be very clear, because it seems that folks are fixated on AI and believe it is in more places then it is. The responses you have received have been from actual real life people, we do not use AI to reply to tickets.

It does look like there was some confusion because of your used of “warband”, as they did relate that to the Warband’s warbank. The trouble also is, we’re not seeing any clear sign of compromise. You have an Authenticator on the account and it doesn’t appear it was removed at any point.

I see you have a couple of other tickets open, and one specifically in the compromise queue, so hopefully we can take a closer look at it.

If you want to know, then you’ll want to go post in the Customer Support Forum.

Click the EDIT pencil under your first post. That should open the edit window where you can find a drop down with the forum names. Use that drop down to MOVE your own thread to Customer Support.

When they are in, I am sure someone will be happy to give you some guidance as to what you might have said. I know they don’t put it in the emails anymore so your assumption about what caused your penalty is likely incorrect.

Forum mods are pretty amazing at their jobs. I am always disappointed when I have to rely on the ticket system over talking to them.

They do put it into the appeal!

It is how you know if you wanna push it towards having a gm look at it as they provide a transcript of the reported line of text.

Have you ever read the original rules for WoW regarding language? Here are some of the basics from 2004.

When engaging in Chat in World of Warcraft, or otherwise utilizing World of Warcraft, you may not:

  • (i) Transmit or post sexually explicit images or other content or language which in the sole discretion of Blizzard Entertainment is deemed to be offensive; nor shall you transmit any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content or language, nor may you use a misspelling or an alternative spelling to circumvent the content and language restrictions listed above;
  • (v) Communicate or post any user’s personal information in or on the World of Warcraft, or websites or forums related to World of Warcraft;
  • (vii) Harass, threaten, stalk, embarrass or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort to another user of World of Warcraft or other person or entity; or

Original User Manual from 2004 https://bnetcmsus-a.akamaihd.net/cms/template_resource/LO0VQ46XB1281555957773363.pdf - which has the EULA at the end. It points to the requirements for accepting Terms of Use with the website for it. I selected the first archived Wayback Machine TOU for WoW from 2004. I have copied out the relevant sections for you. Yes, it included hateful names and speech as well as profanity, masked profanity, spam, etc.

they could ban you for the simplest thing cause the social contact says everyone has to be a goody to shoes and help each other and respect people’s identity

We would get into a argument over the written law and the spirit of it. Moderation has changed I think we can both agree with the obvious example of them not banning lgbt guilds for instance.

I find the current way the rules work annoying but that isn’t the same was wanting to quit or start a armed rebellion. I just want to grumble.

The social contract is half suggestion, which is not enforceable rules. What can be enforced is the EULA and Code of Conduct.

Right click and report the text if it breaks the rules. They are not going to tell you the outcome of the reports though. From the forums, we can certainly see people come here crying about language penalties so we know they do take action.

The same rules apply to ALL Blizzard games and platforms, like the forums. Profanity, or masked profanity is not allowed here either.

You’ve got to report that. They’ll get actions taken against them if it is reported, but the GM won’t tell you when someone else is actioned.

Let’s see… it is an 18 and over game.

Some adults like in a bar like to cuss but community guidelines want WOW treated as if you are playing WOW in a church.
I think WOW needs to pull up their britches because if I ran the company no side would get ahold of community standards. Last few years WOW was carried by the cat ladies. Where are the dog fans at? Oh no someone cussed at me… my entire life if shattered for eternity!

nah that social contact is enforced i don’t bother chatting in game anymore. either in discord or you get ignored.

Blizzard does not enforce a suggestions section.

Only the CoC section of it. Which the CoC has been part of the game forever.
