twink is not a demeaning term at all.
Why don’t you save everyone time by just editing your main post?
It’s mostly incoherent rambling.
The problem with your conclusion is it’s been used that way in wow since tbc? wrath? Minimum of 16 years.
You can’t claim something is offensive 15 years later when it’s meaning hasn’t changed within the game.
Destiny - September 9, 2014 (taken didn’t release until the end of 2015)
WoW Mop - 2012
Destiny 2 - end of 2017
WoW Legion - mid 2016
Now this is the only one that is could be argued for sake of similarities on release.
Destiny 2 scorn release - Sept 2018
WoW Bfa - August 2018
So which one were you insinuating was stealing ideas from the other?
Based on dates, destiny was taking ideas from wow.
And just because they are owned by the same company, doesn’t mean they are sharing ideas. Blizzard was merely the publisher.
I am still confused how the word “twink” and it’s usage in wow for 16+ years is related to wow and destiny sharing themes.
I chose to do my own thinking. I would advise not only thinking, but looking up some of this stuff as well so you aren’t making unfounded assumptions on topics.
Croissant. Taco. Recipe.
the devs probably didnt care because it has never been a derogatory or demeaning term. People in the gay community have been using that term since like the 70s. It’s what many identify as.
Incomprehensible.
Is it considered bad to make twinks now?
Only in BGs
People say alts nowadays.
I’m not editing anything because a few people tripped over a few words meant to spark discussion after reflecting on what was written.
I’m well aware the term has been reclaimed, its origins however are still burned into my mind. You can claim whatever you like, that’s not the point I’m making, and you’re trying to derail the train of thought here, I’m not here to repeat myself.
I’m well aware WoW had resources, that again was only to point that the mass audience research was shared and lacking volume. And again, that’s not somehow the problem, Im a big fan of Suramar.
Also Activison-Blizzard (separate from the developer) was the publisher after they bought their shares back from Vevendi so big difference there, not the point.
The thinking that you’re doing is in direct conflict like an abusive relationship. I’m not going to keep m&m trail feeding you to the point that I am making just to relive any kind of trauma either of us may have. That is not doing the thinking, you replied almost instantly without any reflection.
This is the exact bad faith arguments I was trying to avoid.
I am not sure your entire argument is based on good faith.
The discussion you are wanting to spark is non existent. That isnt a failure on everyone else. Its on you.
Like…you say you dont want to repeat yourself. But I am not sure most people even know what you point even is. Because its not concisely made.
Because you’re not willing to look at it from any other perspective other than a critical one.
I was hoping someone from the community would ask a good faith question like:
Do you think demography should be used in asset creation?
If so what information would be considered justifying evidence of the population?
Or have some other kind of meaningful discussion about some of the other misconceptions blizzard made in the past with their content.
Who knew that would be such a massive ask.
I’m just glad people read it, and liked the post, despite the comments.
For anyone who doesn’t want to engage, I don’t think demography should be used in asset creation. The art should come from the artists to make what they would like to make instead of some packet of market research being plopped on their desk and being ordered to make it.
“Skorn”
Dude, you could’ve at least spelled Scorn correctly.
So what perspective do you want me to look at it with?
What demography for what asset creation? Be specific.
I have no clue what you are referring to with this.
Then be concise and clear in what you want to talk about.
What demography do you feel is being used in asset creation? Specifically, what assets?
The art should come from the artist director.
I need you to be specific on what art assets you are referring to so I can ensure we are on the same page.
Suramar as a city has existed in the lore since WC3: TFT. Which was released in 2003. Destiny 2 Forsaken didn’t come out until what? 2018?
Suramar in the WotA novel trilogy is described as the crown jewel of the Night Elven Empire.
I highly doubt Blizzard looked at Bungie and copied their homework. Considering Legion came out in 2016.
Mists of Pandaria came out in 2012. The Taken first appeared in the Taken King Expansion. Which was 2015.
If anything mate, Bungie was copying Blizzard.
So you just hopped to an alt or what?
Either way this isn’t a discussion, this is an attack, and a rude one at that.
…what? No
How am I attacking you by asking you to be specific in your comments?
“I am not sure what you are talking about, can you please clarify?”
“WHOA. Dont attack me”
Oh I agree, but bringing that up wasn’t meant to criticize either developer.
Just to point that the work was coming from the same place.
Copying isn’t bad either if that’s what happened, I’m sure tons of people enjoyed the aesthetic who didn’t know where it came from.
How exactly did Blizzard copy Bungie when the stuff you accuse Blizzard of copying… came out before the stuff Bungie released?
Also I fail to see how the Zandalari and the Scorn are connected.
The Zandalari aren’t undead creatures born from a mans grief and the hatred a wish dragon has towards his sister.
Dude, really?
You cant see where this is going?
This is an argument that is bound to flare up into a flame war, id rather not continue discussing the topic with you.
If you came from another angle of genuine curiosity or confusion that needed clarifying i would have been more than happy the to entertain the discussion.
But,
every word of your post could be watered down to an insult.
I am genuinely curious and confused as to what art assets are being effected by what “demography”
I can see you are here in bad faith.
You accuse others of switching to an alt, while posting on a fresh alt that only exists for this thread.
You take any questions as a form of insults.
You are only looking for agreement. Anyone else you will dismiss. When you are unable to engage in a discussion unless a person agrees with you, that is not being here in good faith.
This thread is coming across as a thinly veiled “there shouldnt be gay people in my WoW”. I am hoping it is not. That is why I am asking for clarification.
I am not having an argument with you. I am not having a flame war with you.
I have merely asked for clarification. Your response has been to throw insults at me.
