Not sure about how that applies to your reply that M+ players don’t care about the pets at all. Of course we don’t. We don’t use it. My whole point is that Pets will make things harder to balance in the long run. That’s all.
You can keep saying that. You keep denying it and then confirming it.
Yes, they are currently catering to M+ crowd. You can complain about that. No problem. Complain away. Just don’t be surprised that it doesn’t change. And hasn’t for years.
No Blood lush should be an exclusive to Shamans again. Shaman is the one that that has had one of its main abilities just given to other classes hunters and Mages. IMO Blood lush should be removed from mages/hunters and just kept with in shamans.
But my point which was made pretty point blank is that some people WILL care. And then we’ll be back to square one. After which you brought up the whole M+ crowd not complaining about pets???
I’ve seen “MM pets don’t do enough damage and Lone Wolf sucks” maybe a dozen or so times in total in the 10+ years since Lone Wolf has been around in one form or another. Overwhelmingly, the people who want to play MM with a pet do not care in the slightest whether or not pet damage is competitive. Developer intent to be petless is a valid reason to tune pets to be weaker across the board than going it alone.
Well yes, most of those people are right here right now.
Of course there will be people that will care. The fact that ON MULTIPLE THREADs there are people who keep going on about using the pet for tanking is literally proof that if you remove that agency then those very people WILL complain.
BTW, the fact that the Spec is under tuned and needs a radical rework adds some weight to the arguement that maybe if the Pet had been removed earlier, it wouldn’t actually need this rework now.
And saying “no it’s fine” is not a valid rebuttal. If it was fine and everybody was happy with it like you say, then this rework would never have got off the ground.
Barrage had no interaction with any other abilities, it wasn’t filling the role of Multi-Shot because it wasn’t making Rapid Fire or Aim Shot hit multiple targets. If for some reason, you only needed a tiny bit of damage to finish off many targets in front of you, then yeah, barrage would be fine for just that. If you wanted to aggro a ton of things that were in front of you, barrage would probably do that great. The current talent tree just didn’t offer enough points to take a barrage for those two the situational uses. If enough targets existed, you were better off spending your time using Multi-Shot and then Aim Shot or Rapid Fire, or Binding Shot/Salvo/Volley.
Its a second focus-efficient filler aoe on the move, that’s all. In areas like the Stonevault hallways it was pretty fun to do some damage, pull mobs onto the tank via MD, and then slide right into the standard AoE rotation.
I hear you. I wish its damage and rotational interactions made using it optimal. It had some cool factor. I liked the animations, but the damage for the time spent casting just wasn’t worth it.
I think your assumption is as wrong as it could be, OP. MM barely benefits from having a pet outside of utility being tied to it and has been like that for years. Honestly this makes sense, but I do agree that hunters should have a pet.
Really, Ranger should have been it’s own class and hunter’s and rangers could have been two different ranged specs. But that will never happen now, they folded way too many class fantasies into hunter at this point. Sure did elf-ify the hell out of it, damn shame my Dwarf hunter doesnt have a MM option, gotta be tied to the least dwarven things I ever seen. Elf Warden and Undead Elf ranger… Pathetic.
Do you only do m+/Raiding content? because that is the case only for those, because it have a lot of utility, outside the pet main skills for questing, delves, PVP, RP, anything else
You’re wrong. It really doesn’t. At one point when they could tank and cc that was true, but thats long since gone. Questing content can almost be auto-attacked through, delves one shot the pet, pvp the pet is a weak point for MM, and RP is RP. Maybe the only reason I think it should still be a choice, for peoples rp flavor but that doesn’t make this a bad move for MM mechanically.
MM has been pushed away from pets in all content for a long time, the pet for MM is mostly window dressing outside of the utility that requires one. They been trying to push MM down this road for a while now, assuming this is because of M+ players is dumb. Pvpers tended to drop the pet too, and raiders as well. You don’t have to like it, but thats the clear intention. Don’t blame a specific player base for this.
