They are ruining marksmanship because of M+ players

Sorry I’ve posted it so many times I’ve lost track of where Ive explained it in full but basically yes.

Keep every other change.
Just have a dumb pet with either basic skills and a damage debuff so it’s only good for soloing or even a no damage taunt bot if you want to remove DPS tuning, no matter how small, all together.

If people don’t want a pet they could just never summon it and it would be identical to removing pets for them. For those of us that do want pets the option exists without affecting any of the changes now or in the future.

This.

Go make a new Hunter. Do Exile’s Reach. When you hit level 10, don’t immediately choose a spec, look at your (and your pet’s) spell book and action bars.

I would like those to remain as-is when I click Marksmanship. That’s it. I have no need for my pet to learn any new abilities. I am suggesting there be a dps loss in order to have this pet.

It would be optimal to continue petless. Even if we had the family and spec abilities, we will already be able to apply Mortal Wounds with Aimed Shot, apply a 50% snare with Concussive Shot, Wing Clip, or Tar Trap, and use Intimidation, Roar of Sacrifice, Harrier’s Cry, and Master’s Call whether we have a pet or not. We will do more damage without the pet. There are no other pet functions MM has ever had access to that matter in a group context.

I don’t understand why people would oppose this choice.

Tauren rogue is in line with the “fantasy”, but having a pet while playing mm isn’t possible because some famous m+ streamers say they have to remove it from the spec because they don’t like it/haven’t used it for a while. And the opinion of majority, those who like having a pet or need it in their gameplay doesn’t matter.
“Oh we listen to players”… Lmao

Some people make it out like its impossible to play the game without a pet tank that is for sure.

Sure if you remove taunt for pets on MM.

Pet taunt is so OP the whole spec gets balanced around having a pet to tank in solo content. MM needs to be designed as a spec that plays differently to BM with its own gameplay loop

clearly not, it seems we just want BM and BM-again

Weren’t you the one saying no one need or use pet for world content or delves?

Now you are saying pet is so OP :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

You dont need to use a pet in delves but because MM is balanced around having a pet the base kit isnt as great as other classes.

I am finding it really difficult to understand what you are confused about lmao

so, we clearly need the pet back ASAP

I’m glad you finalized realized that, character development. :+1:t5:

yea if you want a BM hunter with aimshot sure but blizzard decided to rework it into its own spec and playstyle.

Think again Sparky. That is exactly what I do with my pet when I am playing the game.

No? the pet isn’t the main source of damage for MM, but it is to BM

It was already its own spec and playstyle

if the only reason you use pets is for heroism, then L2BuyDrums. Simple fix and you can play a less hard class, maybe be a DK that just has to slam his whacker on the keyboard to play.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha…

Wait. You posted this, as a hunter?

… but MM still has a pet in the rework, and has gotten essentially zero sustainability and survivability improvements for the “OPness” that is taunt.

This got me thinking about upcoming tuning. With PTR higher item level MM doing the same damage or less than live, and losing the occasional safety offered by the pet to tank, at least until it dies and requires ressummoning in combat, will MM get more defensives or mobility? It is already pretty great on the mobility front if not spammed with snares and slows, and defensives are not bad, but with no meaningful pet defensives or damage could be tuned to compensate the pet tanking loss. There is already room for MM buffs on PTR as it does 1 million less dps in burst compared to many specs and has a larger gap in performance for sustained damage compared to many specs.

All signs point to no. The new aimed shot makes you just as prone to turreting as the live variant and the removal of Barrage makes MM less mobile, not more.

Schroedingers pet - both “totally useless, dies instantly, doesnt hold threat and provides nothing of value” but also “totally OP to the point the entire spec is balanced around it specifically” and it exists in both states until you argue with someone at which point it becomes whichever is the opposite to the person you’re arguing with, lol.

Also this is absolute nonsense - as long as DKs can solo raid bosses there is nothing op about a hunter’s pet.

You don’t need the pet.

You’re balanced around having a pet.

Pick one. It can’t simultaneously be both.

Depends on procs, but there are enough sources of Streamline to counter the AiS cast time increase.

This is just straight up incorrect.

MM needs to stand still for Aimed Shot, and only Aimed Shot. Barrage being removed does not increase the % of time you are casting Aimed Shot, because Aimed Shot has charges, and the charges mechanic hasn’t changed other than a few talents offering some AiS CDR.

Barrage did nearly no damage, so players didn’t talent into it, so no loss there unless it would have alternatively be buffed to be useful.

In pvp you can have Aimed Shot castable while moving during Cheetah like Steady Shot always is. Super useful during Cheetah, does nothing while it is unavailable in PVE.

Aimed shot being 1.4second or less cast time during a “correct” rotation feels fine. The skill expression in MMs dps now has several rotation requirements, and finding opportunities to stop for about a second to get an Aimed Shot cast off is also skill expression.

Doing the new rotation nearly perfectly and doing lots less damage than live has me concerned. Tuning needs attention.
