They are ruining marksmanship because of M+ players

So they should just recycle warlock abilities to use for hunters?? How does that play into the class fantasy. Eat your pet to gain its powers lol Do you even play the class?

Why not?

  1. It does the job neatly by proving a simple and pratical solution
  2. Fix the issue with utility given to hunter, so people dont need to summon and unsummon
  3. Keep the two options available(pet/no-pet) for those who want

Seems like everything is covered and everyone wins

I said to get inspiration from it, not literally copy it, like, lol, do i need to explain to you?

Lone wolf could simple be Heart of the best or some name like that → you dismiss the pet, but keep part of its essence increasing damage you deal by 5% and allowing to use its main ability

Simple

I mean you didn’t say that like at all… maybe poorly implied but yeah.
Maybe that could of been an option but blizzard clearly went with the option that hinges less on tuning 2 seperate playstyles

There was no need for tunning, its better to have one option underperforming that go with the toilet and have no option at all, game is filled with underperforming and dead talents, its what make this a RPG and not a moba.

It still requires tuning to make sure one option is clearly better performace wise than the other

Which the 5% increase damage of lone wolf already did, so, no more tuning was necessary

Having a pet reduces damage by 5%. pets only do 1.5% to 2% of your damage so having a pet out reducing damage by 5% will ALWAYS be worse for damage.

Balance issues completely negated in all content.

No they are not. Shamans and mages are preferred over hunters. Hunters don’t need to do lust. Hunters are only preferred if their item level is high enough to provide the dps a mythic group wants, IF they will take hunters at all with the bias against hunters that existed since vanilla. Elemental shamans do more dps now anyways. Taking away our pets just for a utility that is better provided by a shaman is silly.

Besides. Our pets are more important to us than your mythics, but thanks for admitting that is M+ that is the reason you want to remove them in the first place. Other than wanting to make people unhappy by taking the pets they had for up to 20 years.

So increase the damage pets do to balance it. Why do we have to give up damage just to appease pet haters anyways? They won’t consider allowing the option for us to keep them, after all.

are you just ignoring hunter’s mark?

because MM isn’t intended to have pets lol why do you think the spec has 0 pet talents?

It has been a pet class for 20 years. The abilities were on the pets, not the talent tree

If that were so, then why did all specs have pets for years?

Gee, could it be because the focus was on making the hunter the main actor, and the pet being little more that hunting companion to fetch, distracts, etc? Could it be because all specs got the basic tools of the class and talents were meant to improve certain aspects of selected tools?

Gee, I know hunters have a bit of a bad rap when it comes to thinking and the like, but sometimes I see ones that prove they deserve that classic nickname for the class.

why did all specs have mana for years? should we go back to mana?

You mean the pet an irrelevant part of the spec?

Tank’s should have Lust (Hero) and Healer’s should have Battle Rez. All DPS should have their specific utility or just be able to do crazy amounts of damage within their primary cooldown windows.

Unfortunately, this is not how it is currently designed. If Mage’s and Shaman were the only one’s with Lust, then the current Hunter would not get a spot in competative content because of the lack of meaningful utility and DPS. Not to mention the near useless raid cooldown Hunter’s Mark has become. If Hunter’s Mark had an Execute element added it would be needed.

They recently adjusted Frost Trap to break after a damage threshold was met. If this threshold was on of the highest for a hold utility it might become useful in some battles. If Tar Trap had a stronger slow over a greater area it would be useful. If Binding Shot stun occured at cast rather than after a five yard walk, or acted more to interrupt casters, it would be useful.

Irrelevant to those that think anyone that uses a pet, at all, is bad. I always saw MM pets more like that hunting dog, the spotting bird, etc.

One thing the anti-pet crowd needs to get through their thick skulls, irrelevant to you does not mean irrelevant to all, or are you too stubborn to look beyond how you see things when others are pointing out how they see things?

The pet was relevant to me, and others, in solo/world content. We still went pet less, barring the need for lust, in group content. We either like or are indifferent to the changes for group content. If you ask us where we think the pet should be relevant/irrelevant, some of us would likely tell you keep the pet potentially relevant in solo content, where it serves as our party, and irrelevant in group content, where it more often then not gets in the way unless one is good at controlling it.

We had mana far less time then we have had pets, and a lot of that was likely because Blizzard, in the early days of WoW, had issues thinking of different resources that made sense for classes. Hunters got focus either in Wrath or Cata, been too long so can’t remember for sure. But still, if MM was “never intended to have pets” why didthey reverse course the last 2 times they tried to take them away? why were we able to hve pets, for solo content, for all these years? Sorry, but the “intended” argument falls flat to anyone that can stop and think for a bit. At most, you will get that MM was not intended to be reliant on pets for damage and, with the changes, utility.

You have zero clue how mythic raiding or raiding in general works . you 100% take a hunter into a serious raid. Do you know what raid buffs are? Hunter’s always have a spec well tuned for raid. If you actually did any group content you might know that lol
You make up a tiny percent of the population and your not losing pets 2 specs are still designed around them if its that important to you play one of those. But you wont because there would be nothing to complain about. Funny how people who do no group content in an mmo think game should be designed around them

Lone wolf currently buffs the hunter by 5% it doesn’t nerf the pets dmg you just lose that dmg from not having one out. Pet dmg scales just like anything in the game and requires “tuning” or do you think pets have been doing the same dmg for 20 years? Every patch requires tuning. You don’t even know how the class works or the game for that matter lol

think we had mana for 5 years and think MM had pets for 8 years or so? I forget when lone wolf was added. if years as X is a good metric than thankfully all the RSV people can shup up with midnight since it’ll be melee longer than not :stuck_out_tongue:

what if MM had a mechanic that used some sort of avian companion for spotting? that could be cool.

We had mana like I said, till wrath or Cata, and have had pets for 20. Here is another part you over look, unlike Mana, which we had to use cause it was the only option, just cause we had pets did nto mean we had to use them. Anyone that says MM has not used pets since Lone Wolf’s introduction is speaking just for themselves and making the mistake of “iif I do it, everyone does it”.

but we are lsoing the

But I suppose that such is lost on fools who cherry pick. Let me put it his way, on live we can have any pet outside of exotic ones (those are and will likely be forever BM only) we could have that hunting dog, a spotting bird, a guardian bear, whatever we want or have a need for at the moment.

All that aside, since I am looking at it more for world/solo content. for those of us that could buy in to the new way theyare going, and keeping in mind that Blizzard MAY reintroduce pets as an option for MM, could we not get an MM talent called “Decoy” or something, after all, hunters without pets alongside, and even some that due, do use decoys to attract and distract what they are hunting . The decoy could serve as our taunt bot and it would be a talent as it would be something not always needed.

Well, they keep going back to harp on “Lust can be baseline” because every time we bring up the OTHER REASONS why it’s being done, they go silent.

They are removing pets because they are being LAZY and its HARDER TO BALANCE. Yes, they can even make a 4th spec (I still lol that people here think it’s like flicking a switch). But they aren’t going to do it because it’s not worth the effort. Once you are in charge and can reverse that call, all you can do is give feedback. This is no longer feedback. This is a non flexible hate cycle that you think this is wrong and that you will take no compromises.
