There's people like this

Ohhhhhhh! Your core issue isn’t right click report, your issue is Blizzard’s rules. Got it.

And any adult should no that correlation =/= causation.
Unfortunately that doesn’t always hold true.
There were nothing in those videos that said they were kicked from the game for being reported. All that was in those videos was that they were kicked from the game. That could have been a hiccup in the servers, it could have been them deliberately disconnecting themselves.

hmm wouldnt the solution for that be to just ignore the person, so that we dont end up with people banning each other like some frenzied fish feeding.

How often do you get told why a person from the other team DCed? Let alone if they were DCed for being reported? I would imagine it never happens.

How often do people get dc’ed after being reported? I’ve seen people being squelched but not dc’ed so I can only assume that there is no connection without further proof.

Did you not read my post. I clearly said that ignoring that person still made it unable to post any group finding because people would argue with them, clogging the chat channel. You can’t ignore everyone.

What is wrong with some of you guys. What would happen if you accidentally read a conspiracy? I’ve seen that like 5 times today so far… that people want “right click + tell mom” so they don’t have to see conspiracy theories in barrens chat. Like how does that effect you? Where did that concern even come from. What is there even to report.

My original point was idk how you can defend a system where random people can put your account standing at risk without proper review? Why isn’t ignore and the detailed report feature good enough for you? It’s like you just want to be able to abuse it under the guise that everyone against it in Classic wants to be trolls without facing consequences.

yes that is a problem. do they do this on the LFG channel or only trade or in general? maybe blizz could fine tune the script so if person x is ignored x amount of times, they aren’t squelched everywhere, just on the channel they were effecting. that stops them from posting in THAT channel and eventually the convo would resume to… where’s mankrik’s wife? does that sound like a feasible solution?

I don’t know. I haven’t logged into WoW in … since … let’s just go with September. Long enough to make it to 111.

But like I said, I agree, there is no proof that the game is kicking people for being reported X number of times. It’s entirely plausible that said person randomly DCed.

That being said, watching a video and listening to an entire team on discord talking about reporting someone to try to make them DC, then the person on the other team DCs, that it doesn’t look suspect. If you watched one of those videos and didn’t go “Well, that’s a bit odd if not coincidental.” I would question your sanity.

Again, I’m not saying said person DCed because they were reported, just that the optics of it are a bit odd.

Seriously, are we a bunch of 13 year old girls or something? What mature adult does any of this?

Because everyone over the age of 18 always acts like a mature adult right?

I’ve been around people who think 1 thing can cause a completely unrelated thing a lot. I’ve had to debunk things like that. In cases like that, it is my assumption that someone is asking for the reports so that, as soon as they are sufficiently reported, they can yank their wow connection and say it was the squelch just to bring on views. Is this what happened? I have no way of knowing but I doubt what they are trying to lead me to believe because we’re always told to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

All that would do is send them to another channel to spam, lengthening the time they can spam and cause arguments/etc.

No, but people aren’t going to report you because you posted that you’re looking for a group after your BFF told everyone that you cheated on your bf and that you’re a terrible person

I think it’s understandable. For the silence to be applied, it probably has to do something funky to your account. I imagine, changing permissions. Which, could require the account to “refresh”(relog) to update for(or apply) the changes.

Maybe not everyone, but if the twitter mob is anything to go by. If your former friend decided, to go around telling people you’re a racist, etc. Just because they were mad, guarantee the next time someone saw your name in trade chat, 50 people would report you without proof just because they heard a rumor about it once and don’t care if it’s true.

What’s odd is that if this so rampant of a problem that the only way for to have any proof of it happening is to have some idiots go out of their way to abuse the system and record it happening. Why does it not seem to exist outside of a controlled forced environment?

that’s not your concern. all that’s your concern is what he’s doing in the channel you are trying to use.

People barely remember the names of the last people they grouped with and you want them to remember some name from gossip who knows how long down the line?

I’d be surprised if even 1 person in trade chat actually recognized me after the rumor being told. Most people tend to just ignore that.

Yeah, stupid people have never recorded themselves doing something against the rules/illegal and posted it on the internet before…
