I mean, no one would care about right-click-reporting if all it did is report people. The fact that it auto-squelches people is what makes most people concerned. And mind you, it will be abused.
Say you are really good friends with this person, but for whatever reason, the two of you have a falling out. Then they go start spreading false rumors about you, and next time you post something in trade chat, 15 people report you for those rumors, even though they don’t even know you. Now you’ve been squelched for something you never did.
Is that going to happen all the time? No. But I’d rather let every troll keep running their mouth then 1 innocent person get punished for something they didn’t do.
If the classic community is anything like the vanilla community, trolls will just be momentary amusement at worst, and ignored by everyone at best.

Most people are concerned? Where did you get that statistic from? I could just as easily post that most people are perfectly happy with the warm feeling and orderly conduct provided by the current system.

I’m not worried about me not being able to say anything that will get me reported. I want there to be a living breathing community that is able to talk about what they want. I want to see a chat I have no interest in being a part of, because people should be able to express themselves in a video game however they like outside of real life threats.
I’m more sympathetic towards someone that wants to spout trash in Barrens Chat than I do about someone who only wants the power to ban people because they feel powerless irl. There is an ignore feature already I don’t understand why we need to script an entire community and remove the sense of freedom so that some people can shelter themselves. People have the power to ignore, power to leave chat channels, power to make a detailed report, power to join a guild of like minded snowflakes. Idk why you need the power to remove the voice of other players over your own feelings. It has nothing to do with wanting to be toxic and face no consequences. It has everything to do with having a community that is able to express themselves and give a server a personality that’s not always going to be a reflection of your own.
And to the other people saying I’m trying to be a hero and a martyr for making a thread just because another thread got deleted needs to get their heads checked. I already told you I didn’t know that thread got deleted and me making this only had a correlation in terms of the type of people I saw responding in that thread.
For someone who’s calling me a conspiracy theorist, you’re sure coming up with wild and out of place assumptions about me when I already stated why I did this.

No. I’m saying that most of the people whom are concerned about this feature are concerned about it for the fact that it automatically punishes people without any kind of investigation into the matter.
If it didn’t auto punish, the only people concerned about it are the people who wanted to be jerks more often.

I mean to be fair, it doesn’t even have to be edited. They could just be randomly DCing. But you can’t tell me when you have an entire team on discord saying they should just report someone to try to make them DC and then a person from the other team suddenly DCs, that it doesn’t look suspect AF.

I’ve been around before the “squelch” and I remember a time where people would troll chat channels so much that, even if you did ignore them, you would still not be able to play the game because people were busy arguing with them so much that no one could realistically seeing anyone post anything looking for groups without being strictly limited to guild chat.
