i have no one on my ignore list and never have since i started playing back in vanilla. i’ve never flagged or reported other forum posters or players. can you guess why that might be?
What did I twist or take out of context? Your solution to the problem of being squelched was “just use discord”. Which leads to the next logical step of “Well just use discord for everything and you can’t be squelched for any reason.”
Blizzard has repeatedly stated specifically that the use of /trade for chat not related to trade is NOT a violation.
I use the term “nice, polite, civilized conversation” as a way to express that those players are not committing any violations and that the only thing of which they are guilty is using /trade in a manner permitted by Blizzard.
I’m not trying to say that everyone will always be polite. If you think that a player is committing an actual violation, then report them.
Yes, it is.
It is also possible to use /trade in a manner in which Blizzard has repeatedly said is NOT a violation.
This is the only part I find thats true,
but who says people can’t call their whole crew.
All my responses will continue to be rhymes,
but you can right click report if you think its a crime.
Nope. I have no intention abusing it. In fact I will gladly assist blizzard by using the tool they will be providing me, a concerned citizen of their servers and their living room.
Why would I do all of that when I can simply right click report the person/people being disruptive to communication, and continue utilizing the channel?
I alone would not be able to auto-mute a single person.
Nothing was twisted.
Advising leaving a channel as an option to avoid disruption is no different than advising someone to leave the channel to be disruptive in a non public one.
As some one who’s never been banned, suspended, muted, squelched, or had any kind of punitive measures taken against me, not really.
This whole system is based on the subjectivity of the people around you. If what someone said isn’t against the ToS, why should your offense taken from it, trump their right to say it?
here come the cognitive dissonance moments, where the rules say its okay but you get punished for it anyway. lol its like …well i’m going to call it CD disease (cognitive dissonance that is so out of control that it seems normal )
You are apparently arguing that even though you have no evidence that the right click report system requires a some huge number of reports to trigger a squelch, the absence of a direct statement that a low number of reports is required to trigger a squelch, it “must” be a huge number.
You ignore the fact that the absence of a direct statement that the number of reports required to trigger a squelch is huge could just as easily be evidence that the number of reports required to trigger a squelch is absurdly low.
But it possible that as few as 5 or 10 can squelch a player.
It takes a lot to keep these rhymes on kilt,
but its worth it to see all these ego’s tilt,
all you tryina’ do is get people banned,
when you can’t even rap back like a man.
You can try all you want to ignore what say,
But I can keep this diss track going nearly half the day.
I didn’t say it was a violation. It’s more like that parent who brings their half-dozen kids to the supermarket and has them all chattering and grabbing things. Not a violation, but certainly rude behavior that ignores the impact on others.
I know I post a lot, and have the profile hidden, but I repeatedly say that’s what I tend to report people for. Looking at many of the posts complaining about silences, they were not people who were having nice, polite, civilized conversations.
In fact, I don’t remember if it was Ythisens, but one of the CMs on GD responded once to say that they often went and looked when those threads came up claiming they were silenced when they didn’t say anything bad - and across the board, every one of them was clearly in violation, usually rather egregious. (The people who are innocent appealed and didn’t build up long silence durations because any squelch was lifted as soon as it was reviewed.)
But spamming and disrupting the channel ARE violations regardless of content.
Disruption / Harassment: Engage in any conduct intended to disrupt or diminish the game experience for other players, or disrupt operation of Blizzard’s Platform in any way, including:
Disrupting or assisting in the disruption of any computer used to support the Platform or any Game environment. ANY ATTEMPT BY YOU TO DISRUPT THE PLATFORM OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF ANY GAME MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS.
Harassment, “griefing,” abusive behavior or chat, conduct intended to unreasonably undermine or disrupt the Game experiences of others, deliberate inactivity or disconnecting, and/or any other activity which violates Blizzard’s Code of Conduct or In-Game Policies.
But it’s not just my taking offense at it. It’s multiple people taking offense at it to trigger a squelch. To actually get you punished, a GM will have to concur with the reports and rule that you violated the code of conduct.
No, it’s not. It might have been at one time but it would have been so easily abused Blizzard would have stepped in and raised the threshold anyways.
You’re implying the developers are stupid. Really quite rude actually.
… A parent brings their kids to the store… and they’re talking and grabbing things is disruptive to the other people in the store. Well that’s shockingly subjective. Kids will be kids, and adults talk when shopping too. It’s also not up to the other shoppers to punish the kids or the parent, it’s up to the store to do that, if they’ve done something they shouldn’t be doing. If you think they’ve done something, you should report them, but 20 of you shouldn’t be allowed to kick them out of the store or punish them for “disrupting” you.
And why should a mob of people have any more right to force someone to shut up based on their subjective opinion then one person? More people offended doesn’t make the reason they were offended any less subjective.
