If I am correct, /trade is linked between the major cities. That may be the only channel that is linked between those major cities.
Secondly,
Why should they have to do it elsewhere when Blizzard has specifically stated that it is NOT a violation to use /trade for things other than chat related to trade?
If we do not know what the number is, how can it be misinformation to point out that it could be a low number that would be extremely easy to abuse?
If, as you say, “Blizzard already knows a low number can be abused”, how is it misinformation to point out that a low number can be extremely easy to abuse?
1 Because this is a social game and we are allowed to talk to whoever we want were ever we want for idle conversation.
2 Wrong, we the humans will abuse the heck outa anything. We converse, we fight, we argue, we work together, and we cooperate. And giving us a tool we can use to stone our neighbors in the street because we don’t like what they say or do saying we wont use it maliciously is no reason to have it. We already have abused it, and We will again. Because we are humans and we WILL use anything you put in our hands however we please regardless if the person in question is trash talking or not.
I already see people going for rank 14 getting banned by the runner up and losing his place in the lead.
I already see scarab lords losing their mounts because x amount of people wanna deny that guy.
I already see people getting G kicked then banned because they got into an argument with their gm.
I already see it being abused in classic, because they will. How do you expect a competitive social environment where you can just vote remove the other guy? lol
Player created channels cannot reach random people, can they?
Harry, Johnny, Billy and Bobby are all in different major cities. They begin a nice, polite, civilized conversation in /trade. Several other people see this conversation and join the conversation, then a few more people join the conversation and some more after that. Eventually, there are more than 2 or three dozen people in that conversation, people that found common ground with each other, possibly added each other to their friends lists, etc.
If they had used a player created channel, they would never have reached those other people. They would never have found common ground with those people or added them to their friends lists.
You’re right. Why do we do this social interaction thing at all? Let’s all just stay home and turn off the internet and never go outside and talk to anyone ever again…
public? as in a social community where people interact with each other? i will be the first to admit that after a 100 times of seeing blessed blade of the windseeker spam, i could do without it, but doesnt mean i want those people to not be able to say it. haha . there’s a difference between i’d prefer not to see it and i demand not to see it.
Agreed wholeheartedly, but it looks like quite a few people on these forums don’t care about the ignore function in this game and would rather have others be silenced.
My friend and I routinely go to Ruth’s Chris and stand on either side of the reservation podium and freestyle rap at each other. I know of no such rule against it. People wanna be all upset that the maitre’d cannot seat them? They best step off before they get served. If they have an issue with my tasty raps, well, that’s on them. It’s like. just their opinion, man.
Hehe you’re so clever. Silly people… why would anyone feel the need to have more freedoms. Prison is freedom, because I don’t need to do anything hehe. If someone wants to make a joke… that’s abuse of freedom. I am filled to the brim with courage and endure these silly people. But I never offend anyone, because I have nothing to say that could be offensive so I am in the right tehee. Poor me… victimized by the outlandish things people people want to type on keyboard… I can’t wait for an outlet in classic to ban them so I can make more people good like me. Tee #&$^ing hee.
There is at least one poster that has a pet peeve against people using /trade for things other than chat related to trade, even though Blizzard has repeatedly stated that doing so is NOT a violation. That same poster that has all but admitted that he plans to report anyone that has the audacity to use /trade in a manner he does not like in order to try to squelch them and have them removed from /trade.
That same poster has proven that he has no problems violating the rules if he feels it benefits him to do so. He received a forum vacation and went right out and created a new account to circumvent that forum vacation, even though that is against the forum COC.
I would be surprised if he was the only that thought the rules did not apply to them, and that their opinion trumps Blizzard’s statements and policies.
There is at least one poster who is not a fan of my tasty freestyle raps, but would rather internet lawyer and get upset when his audience stops taking his absurd bait.
If Ruth’ Chris permits that freestyle rapping, in much the same way that Blizzard has repeatedly specifically stated they permit the use of /trade for things other than chat related to trade, the those customers that choose to get upset have no real leg upon which to stand.
Seeing as detractors of the system routinely tell people they can just leave the channel if they do not like whats in it, you can surely see how that is hypocritical as anything.
To borrow a line for any courtroom drama: Assumes facts not in evidence.
Your entire premise is based on an assumption for which you know absolutely nothing behind the scenes. You’ve latched on to the Asmon-whoever incident and a video you think is real and thus you’ve convened a grand jury and issued an indictment against Blizzard already.
