Good job Blizzard, they definitely needed to be buffed in their least strong talent tree.
AD makes Paladins the only viable option for Ulduar as far as most people are concerned.

Paladins just get that extra spice of forgiving a mistake with cheat death and lots of utility skills, but all tanks are viable in all content.
Don’t try to be so dramatic with wrath or try classic vanilla and then you’ll see what a “one tanking class” is.

There is absolutely no reason to have a warrior tank Algalon over a prot paladin, unless the gear disparity is huge.

The one guy who instantly responds “there’s no reason to have a warrior tank alaglon” is all the 95% of the player base.
You can’t raid anymore without paladins tanking. Sure, you can get by clearing, just much harder.
Arguing that fact is stupid.
Blizzard rewards paladins more than any other class but can’t even deal with the multitude of failures in balancing in getting people to play tanks.
Buff the other tanks, or you will continue to lose heavy amounts of player base…which you already have.

See I don’t really have problems with other parts of your post except this. Did you like, play any of Vanilla? At all?
Or how about TBC, where Kalgan pretty much stated that Ret was a solo/questing spec?

It’s not that it’s an issue being a prot warrior, it’s that people perceive paladins as the be-all and end all of raid tanks due to AD.

And I have a problem with your perception that because Prot/Holy are strong, Ret can be left in the gutter.
My point is that if ret pallies need a buff because you’re in the gutter, surely prot needs a nerf by that logic since they’re outshining 3 other tank specs so handily?
But I doubt you want to have that conversation.

I’m actually fine if they buff Warriors. The problem I have is everyone pinning the blame on us Ret paladins.
We didn’t ask to be a meme spec in Vanilla, that was Kalgans doing.
We didn’t ask to be designed as a leveling/solo/questing spec in TBC. Again, Kalgans words.
And we didn’t enjoy the rollercoaster of changes that ended in 3.3.5.
So stop putting it on us.
Vanilla was ONLY warrior tanks. Bears had some niche spots where they were solid.
TBC was ONLY Bear tanks. Paladins were there to tank trash, Warriors were in the same
spot they are now.
Wrath finds a way for all 4 tanks to be good at certain things. Paladins are just the best overall at not dying. The gap is closer than it’s ever been.
