I’m glad this hasn’t been my experience yet. On my warlock, needing RFC for the quests, I looked at the LookingForGroup channel and soon was in a group that had only needed a dps to go, had a druid tank already. On my warrior, I was running through the zone when I saw a group looking for a dps for SFK and got invited, with a warrior tank already in group.
Of course, one thing I don’t do is sit in a city and spam Trade with “LFG” - and I refuse to join a group that spams Trade (my own personal boycott, useless I know).

So I was told that shamans can effectively tank a lowbie dungeon up to the 40s range, where they can then typically OT with another shaman or just take some extra damage to relieve the MT. I have this shaman but I haven’t tried (nor will ((yet))) to tank on her. Made a warrior and druid for tanking lol
They really need to make Druids and Paladins viable tanks in classic. Retail already has a low amount of tanks when there’s 6 classes that can be tanks. Think how bad when a few weeks go back and you only have 1 viable class that can tank raids.
I really don’t care if that triggers the “No change” crowd, they can **** off for all I care and this is coming from someone who thinks classic > retail.
They already are viable tanks for dungeons, which is where tanks are needed the most.

Yea not in pugs nor after lvl 50 when you need dcds and mass aoe threat.
After lvl 40 you start to need actual tanks.
Everyone says this and in every video/stream I watch it is not true. I am inclined to believe this is the better way to tank in Classic, but I want to actually see someone do it before switching. It seems like the discussion always goes:
Arms-Tank: Arms is the better tanking spec because it generates more threat.
Prot-Tank: But you don’t have aggro.
Arms-Tank: Aggro doesn’t matter in Classic.
Prot-Tank: wtf?!

That’s until you start raiding where tank spots are near impossible to get.

I stopped playing my tank for a few days. It starts to become work and work is not fun. This is why people dont play them. Give tanks a better AOE taunt to make the gameplay less awful and you would see more. Instead they nerfed the AOE… nerf mages stacking AOE… not war taunt.
Nobody is rolling prot spec for leveling dungeons, grandpa. This isn’t 2004.
The best form of damage mitigation is mobs being dead faster.

I play a tank on westfall alliance, I am having a hard time getting invites lol. Cant get a good to do SM runs.
Im afraid I don’t understand what you mean. If I implied that threat and rage are in any way the same, then I apologize, as that was not at all what I meant. The point I was making is that incoming damage = rage = more outgoing damage = more threat.
The amount of ret paladins playing and the lack of them queueing to tank is very curious
I still help out, tank for randoms… but be prepared to heard cats, and spend time explaining

Well that’s probably because A) Paladins aren’t that great at tanking in classic, and B) because there is no queueing up

They’re fine enough, and you know what I meant

Seems to be a lot of confusion what the year is.
Need a tank, don’t need a tank, all tank specs work, and don’t work, seems we don’t even need the hunters pet.
Not knowing the year, seems perfect, we are out of time, no time to mark, or cc, just keep moving… keystone it and call it what it is.
The real joke… I am playing classic to see the world before catacysm again. These dungeons haven’t changed, and not of any actual interest, considering there seems to be no way to actually enjoy running one. Actually, most of you just want to run through one. If you want to play it like it’s 2019, I’ll just opt out. I’ve got 15 retail toons that can run it like 2019.

People will hate me for this. This is why wolk was so much better. More classes could tank, death knights where added to fix lack of tanks also. Then dungeon finder was a way to help with this.
We really need LFD.
People are needlessly impatient in retail also, they will even risk a wipe to do big pulls for max DPS. AoE is the problem in both versions of the game, it is often used irresponsibly and likely the main reason why no one wants to tank for a pug group.

More tanks isn’t going to solve anything, you will see more tanks willing to pug once players stop being selfish and impatient.
