There are no tanks!

Except, you know, when you’re geared enough to switch to Fury/Prot because it’s better when you have the stats to back it up compared to deep prot which is for beginning tanking at endgame.

Thank you for the suggestion, my next character will be!

If you think Fury is part of tanking, you need to go back to retail.

If you don’t recognize Fury/Prot for tanking you need to go back to retail, because you’re disregarding class potential.

Yeah its rough being a tank. You’re highly sought after sure, but people treat you like crap during runs.

People are so quick to call out any mistakes a tank makes while doing silly things like never kicking any spells ever and all dps going ham on anything but the skull target.

you don’t need tanks to do SM
you can do SM with 4 mages and 1 priest
hell you could probably also do it with 4 non-mages and a healer

but really though, if people stopped going crazy with dps before the tank even pulls then maybe there’d be more tanks
you have to be good to keep aggro off of guys like that, and most players, including most would-be tanks, aren’t good players

It’s highly improbable that any data is 100% accurate, so your claim immediately caused me to question the validity of the source.

2005 source data isn’t particularly relevant to Classic WoW.

There is also information such as:

“One of the necessary addons for the game is a threat tracker that shows threat that you are generating and listing you compared to all of the people in your party/raid. The one in vanilla that was used was called KLH Threat Meter. You would need to make sure that you stay below the threshold of threat that the main tank is outputting so that you don’t pull the boss.”

Which is almost completely irrelevant to anything. Vanilla addons do not work in Classic WoW, and afaik, the only threat-relevant addon that is current working well enough to be of any use is Threat Plates. If you know of others, I’d love to test them myself, please share.

That’s a stretch of the word, “even” in my opinion. You are correct, I didn’t read it. I was asking you some information about your source info, prior to doing so. I am starting to poke through it now.

For what it is worth, Magey’s WIKI, is testing based on current data, and has guidelines for contributing: https://github.com/magey/classic-warrior/wiki/Contributing

Obviously the more people contribute, the more data we will have, and the more accurate it can be.

I’m a tank on Old Blanchy. Add me for runs, I’m always down

No. A true MT tank does NOT go arms until he has the gear to REPLACE talent points from prot in order to be uncrittable and uncrushable. PERIOD.

I’m not talking dungeons. I am talking Raids.

All Dungeons can be tanked by pally, druid, shaman.

This is the correct answer.

Will do!

I rolled a Druid alt. I got to level 29 and I’ve mainly just done healing or dps in the couple dungeon runs I did. I decided since I got some gear with some extra stam I’d do some tanking. I tanked as a warrior from the end of vanilla thru most of BC.

Now I know why players don’t tank. I ran (as an overgeared) tank thru Deadmines, did a few stock runs sitting in SW while playing the AH, and did a gnomer run. Players are just too impatient.

Had a mage in stockade who thought he was the aoe king and gonna kite everything by himself.

Had a dps warrior (different one, but in two different dungeons) decide they would charge and stun a random mob before I could build up any appreciable threat and reduce my rage by stunning them (add in rogues deciding to stun things again reducing my rage).

It was an incredibly annoying series of dungeons. The only thing I can say I have praise for is every run I had a decent to good healer. I even had a couple priest healers who didn’t bubble so I could build rage.

Reroll to a tank.

The lie about taking longer to level up goes away when you start doing dungeons and everyone is begging you to tank for them.

Had a tank on Benediction who was such an absolute unit I had to ask HIM to slow down on pulls because I constantly teerering on the edge of oom.

I think about him often. He typed in ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME and just had big tank energy.

How is that a favor to me? Tank leveling sucks. There’s no way around it. Questing is difficult and you can only do green ones, and dungeon spamming sucks, IMO. Sounds like a favor to everyone else lol.

As a 60 tank who has decided to reroll because there are too many tanks and no one ever needs a tank, I disagree.

I use plater. It works pretty well but doesnt show losing aggro very well, only have or do not have aggro.

There is always a shortage of tanks while levelling, compared to raiding. There may be three or four tanks to a raid, max. Where as every dungeon group needs at least one tank.

I’m leveling as a dps, but if a group want me to tank I just put my shield and go. Did it in BFD and Deadmine, probably will do it in others if necessary

I tried to heal that kind of tank in a melee cleave group, I’ll never do it again. If I somehow find myself in another melee cleave group I’m going to leave.
