I was on Mateus but some RL buddies came back to the game, and they were on Aether (Gilgamesh) so I rerolled.
I miss my Elezen Dragoon, but I have his appearance saved and perhaps one day we shall meet again.
I rolled a Highlander Pugilist. Been having fun punching things.
The game is currently on sale, so I bought it, and a Fantasia. So now I’m a Hrothgar Monk. I modeled him after my cat. He’s adorable. My buddies are both Mi’qote, so we are #catgang now.
I almost never play female characters but I made a freakin cute gothgril Xaela and I’m not ruling it out as a possibility one day… Also bunny boys look super cool. But for the time being I’m happy with my CatChad.

Yeah the game is seriously on sale. I’ve had it on trial for YEARS and I go to buy it… 60% off. It was pretty much the same spend around $17 AUD cheaper than a 2-month block of WoW time for the deluxe/collector/whatever version :0

When I heard the news about ActiBlizz being sued for basically being a frat house I immediately thought about one moment in the last FFXIV fanfest where one of the developers (I think it was one of the writers) commented she couldn’t always work as much as she wanted because Square Enix keeps track of how long employees are on the clock and HR insists they go home and not overwork themselves.
I don’t want to sing SE’s praises excessively because it’s a corporation (and a game developer at that) and has some dark skeletons in the closet like any other, but… Y’see how easy it is to not be grotesquely evil and still make a profit?

I’m not RPing a whole bunch yet because I love the story and wanna finish before Endwalker. (And as many of the class stories as I can. I’ve only done PUG and LNC to 30 but they were both SOOO good.) But if you wanna add me my name is Gareth Eld.

My characters has undergone many an iteration. I feel he will stay a bunny boi though as that fills what I was going for without the annoying parts of Miqos (Damn tail making cool capes look garbo).
I have been a mighty Hrothgar, a suave highlander gentleman warrior, and mostly a kitty boy. Those days are now numbered though.

Something else to keep in mind is that Square Enix isn’t an American company. Their culture is very different over there, and the biggest scandals usually are from overwork from what I’ve heard. The stereotype of Japanese people literally working themselves to death seem to be grounded in some facts. I don’t think I’ve seen much as far as sexual harassment out that way, mostly because it’d be grounds for immediate dismissal. They’re pretty determined to protect their reputations.
Japan is actually really, really, really bad about sexual harassment and similar issues.

Its not the sort of thing I would spend my spare time researching. Things are bleak enough as is within the US, and these days the ever increasing mountain of human’s rights violations, cruelty, abuse, etc… pouring in from all over the world. Well. It’s a nightmare to keep up with and not the healthiest thing mentally/emotionally either.
But, thanks for at least correcting my false impression that things aren’t so bad elsewhere. I probably shouldn’t have expected better.
People often think of Japan as this wacky, wonderful techno-utopia because of stuff we see on TV, in anime, games, etc. But it’s actually a pretty conservative country that still holds on to a lot of old prejudices and views, especially because of American occupation a la MacArthur.
