I mean, I’ll freely admit that this topic is a bit of a lore peeve of mine. After years of being told “I just hate Sylvanas” and “I don’t like her enough” by supposed Sylvanas fans to end up being so damned close to the mark so many times with her … sigh. I know its petty, and childish … but god damned. Years of being told I’m SUPER wrong … just to have my expectations with her met over and over and over again.
I mean, jeezus, Blizz actually writes in an in game book in like 7.3.5 or whatever exactly what she is going to do … and people still were like “It can’t be Sylvanas who’s the laughing shepherd! REEE!!!”.
I didn’t even use the word “villian” in my argument, but Sylvanas is not what this sylvanas-fanboy want to see in her.
Antis have only convinced me they don’t like Sylvanas because she’s smart and pretty. It’s starting to sound more like projection than actual character analysis.
And it seems petty.

And the demonization of her critics through a strawman argument again, when combined with your constant projecting of “headcannon” (what you seem to operate off of almost exclusively) just suggests that the reason you are giving her such a free pass is “because she’s smart and pretty”. You’re constant need to turn this into a sexism thing, when every critic on here is telling you exactly their problems with her (and it has nothing to do with gender) … tells me you are one of those fans who likes the concept of Windrunner far more than the character actually written. Which is why even now you are desperate to have a genocidal mass murderer proven right. And forgiven by HER own “Sylvanas”, Anduin.

All I can say about this topic.
I cannot wait till Zoval “Sylvie’s” Sylvie. When its revealed that for years she’s been marching to the beat of his drum. Turning herself into Arthas based off a convenient lie, to get her to move in convenient ways for someone else. And that her means certainly do not justify the ends of anyone by Zoval himself. For him to discard her, like she did her Forsaken (twice). Simply a tool that has lost its value. And that she’s the embodiment of that Classic Greek trope “the steps you choose to take to avoid your fate are the very ones that condemn you to it”. Truly making her the victim of the very type of manipulative tactics she’s employed against others for decades.
Then, when her entire philosophy she’s been operating off of has been shattered into oblivion … maybe, just maybe, she can find her way to a redemptive path of some sorts.
No. It’s partially the manner in which you argue against Sylvanas… and also because as a even professing Sylvanasplainer, I honestly am not sure that I do either.

I argue what Sylvanas is. A pragmatic egoist, a great general, a war hero and war criminal, a form of victim who herself became what her abuser did to her.

She is egocentric, by all means, she sees it as UNJUST what happened to her (assuming she was really sentenced to the Maw), rather she destroys the whole universe, lets THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS OF SOULS suffer in the Maw for all eternity (the place she wanted to leave, we remember, no?), in order not to have to suffer in it anymore. I don’t know how one can be more egocentric and selfish.
