I came here to update my comment with something similar since I went to Zangarmarsh for Sporreger rep and saw Ogres sporting the same marking. So it isnā€™t necromancy related or even just Exiles Reach Ogre related. Appears quite a few Ogres have it.

Assuming this symbol isnā€™t referring to a WoD or Legion Remix, Iā€™m not really sure what to expect if this was some Ogre themed event.

I donā€™t really see it being something weā€™d get playable Horde Ogres out of. And if there was some Ogre themed event, it could just be something where we fight an enemy Ogre clan or clans being stinky about something.

The only other thing I could think of is some weird gimmick of turning into an Ogre with vehicle type commands in some sort of mini-game thing like with Plunderstorm or so. This of course would be disappointing to see Ogres turned into some weird event ride thing as opposed to being designed as a full playable race. Itā€™d really feel bad to me and also feel very depressing to see.

But as most speculation is, itā€™s possible it could just be WoD or Legion Remix. Iā€™d lean towards WoD a bit more since it has world bosses and maybe a chance to see some cut content. Not to mention tying it into a Lightbound storyline in Retail, and even leaning to the whole Botani threat on Azeroth becoming a problem along with maybe the Saberon on Azeroth getting a storyline too (and becoming a playable race hopefully too). And as I said, it could be a chance to see Ogre themed rewards out of it too.

Best to keep an open mind about it and keep an eye out for official announcements to report back on. And as I said, with a new Remix of any sort, there is a chance of getting new character slots, which are always a good thing.

Well, we got female models when some NPC races became playable and some candidates for being a playable race getting a female model after many years (Kelfin as an example. So it is possible we could always see female models of those races eventually!

I really want to make Baduu in the game. :dracthyr_heart:

Ogre females should have happened in WoD.

Satyr females should have happened in Legion.

Taunka females could happen in TLT. :dracthyr_love_animated:

I saw on Icyveins someone mentioned it was a similar symbol to an Arena in WoD so most likely a WoD remix. I wasnā€™t around for WoD though I think I wouldā€™ve stuck around after Cata if WoD was released instead of MoP and Pandas. Rage quit because first we got BEā€™s before Ogres and than Pandas, Goblins got a pass because they were in the RTS with Ogres.

Iā€™m just going to accept the WoD remix suggestion and move on. Iā€™ve been disappointed by Blizz since 2007 for no Ogres so might as well not add to the disappointment with more hopes that they can squash.

I didnā€™t even think of more character slots. I could go for more even though Iā€™m only sitting around 50 right now. About 10+ are just name reservations till we get Ogres or druids/paladins for all races. 3 are Alliance I leveled a little but stopped because I just canā€™t play Alliance so saving names. I even have one for an Earthen Paladin but not sure if Iā€™ll even pick up the Xpac.

EDIT: Someone posted this in another post. Thereā€™s the rune mark at 2:25.

My most wanted race for the Horde. Over the years Iā€™ve started to want Murlocs as neutral but made as a fun race for all. Would love to have some abilities like HotS and that Murloc WQ in Nazjatar. Army of Murlocs, puffer fish, shark from below, etc. Just something to bring the fun back.

I made a thread for them here for this race if you want to take a look. :dracthyr_yay_animated:

Iā€™m honestly torn on the idea of a WoD Remix. On one hand the leveling was fantastic and had epic moments, but on the flipside the end game and all the grinding with the reps were terrible.

With how Midnight is this clash of the Light and Void, I do wonder if the Lightbound could feature, and thus wonder if the rune symbolizes an event focused on Magā€™har - Lightbound War to help refresh people on the Lightbound.

Magā€™har Paladins maybe? Been waiting a long time to get some Horde races I like to be Paladins. Maybe Paladins for all since weā€™ll need the light to fight the void? I have quite a few Pally names already reserved for when that goes down.

I could easily see Paladins becoming available to every race in Midnight.

The 2025 Road Map was updated and the rune symbol was removed and replaced with a house and Warcraft symbol. The question is, does that mean Blizzard is planning on skipping the ā€œAwakened/Fatedā€ season and release Midnight in the Winter of 2025?

And on the subject of Player Housing, I wonder if it just be a spot in Orgrimmar/Stormwind or if would have different options to choose from.

Just saw this now on WoWhead while looking to see if there were anymore guest relation quests or crates to find and was going to update.

Guessing Blizz saw this thread and said ā€œLets not give them any more hope.ā€ and changed it so as to not string us along for another year, lol. I guess I should be glad they changed it so soon as to not let my hopes and dreams get any bigger for playable Horde Ogres.

 slow claps for Blizz

I think its more they saw the confusion on it and decided to just make it clearer. Like how they updated the Road Map to make it clear that 11.2 would have a new zone.

On the subject of playable Ogres, I had a crazy idea for their Alliance counterpart. We know Furbolg is a popular choice, I lowkey wonder Broken with all seeding, and Iā€™ve seen people want High Elves. But what if while the Horde gets Ogres, the Alliance gets Hobgoblins?

I know its a crazy idea, but it could be a strength to strength competition, in a sense.

Ogres for the Horde, Broken/Krokul for the Alliance. Two races coming from Outland for the both sides. :dracthyr_yay_animated:

Ogres for the Horde, Mogu for the Alliance. Two races having a history about an old empire with a rich history about it and leading by an ā€œstrongā€ emperor with a race being the ancestors of the Orcs and the other one being from the same creators wanting to serve the titans again for the both sides. :dracthyr_yay_animated:

So the new edited road map is here:

And the change comparison of that symbol is this:

Both the above images taken from here:

Iā€™m going to guess this could be a deep dive on the housing system coming up as opposed to a mention of garrisons leading to WoD remix. It could still be a thing, of course, but Iā€™m not really sure how best to interpret it if this is related to housing.

Weā€™ll just keep an eye out for official announcements as they happen I guess.

WoD is another of my least favorite expansions. The only real thing Iā€™d get out of a WoD Remix is potentially more character slots and Ogre and Saberon themed rewards. Maybe with it being a lead-in to a Lightbound story and finally dealing with the Botani on Kalimdorā€¦and maybe playable Saberon if weā€™re lucky.

Itā€™s a bit more interesting to me than Legion Remix, especially since Evokers would be a bit S.O.L. on having an order hall or several quests requiring an order hall. I feel like that would really need to be looked at before a Legion Remix could happen.

I could see Paladins opening up, whether it involves the Lightbound or not, during Midnight, but a lot does depend on the storyline.

The Lightbound could make an appearance, though if I recall correctly, a lot of the storyline involves uniting Elf tribes of some sort, so I donā€™t know how that would be a factor in whether the Lightbound are antagonists, the more likely option in my own personal opinion, or as allies that may or may not turn on us.

There are a lot of possibilities. Iā€™m also wondering if the Harronir/Haranir could be an Allied Race in it, since housing will be taking a lot of resources. Granted, Iā€™d hope for playable Horde Sanā€™layn, but maybe that would end up as a Customization Race in that case instead. Who knows?

Itā€™ll be a bit before we learn more about Midnight, and weā€™ll be sure to report official info as it gets announced.

I feel like Hobgoblins are more tied to the Horde since theyā€™re fairly attached to Goblins. It wouldnā€™t really feel right to see them as an Alliance race.

With Horde Ogres, I feel like the Alliance needs an iconic race that has been missing for quite some time in the playable race department that has as much meaning to the Alliance as Ogres do to the Horde.

Just how I personally feel is all.

True and another factor to why I recognize my idea as crazy. It just sorta popped in my head and I figured Iā€™d share.

I think only one Alliance race fits that criteria and since High Elves are a customization option for both Blood and Void Elves, I donā€™t see that happening.

Patch 11.1 will hit the PTR by the end of the year, so if there is any kind of Ogre involvement weā€™ll find out by then.

I feel that Legion Remix was lowkey confirmed, since when Ion was asked about Legion Remix he said the following:
ā€œAnythingā€™s possible. There some fel-green tinge at the right of the roadmap. [ā€¦] Who knows what that could mean?ā€

So I guess I was sort of right when I said if it was housing theyā€™d just be straightforward about it since they already announced it. Oh well, at least we didnā€™t think it was playable ogres, just maybe an ogre-related event. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Back to wishful thinking, we had a thought about the Arathi Empire (in contrast to the Hallowfall Expedition). Theyā€™re almost certainly going to be villains when we run into them, probably on Avaloren. The implication is that theyā€™re highly xenophobic, at least outside of humans and high elves.

We also know that the ogres managed to spread wildly across Azeroth after the Second War, settling as far off as Kalimdor and miscellaneous places like Ogrezonia. What if a bunch of them ended up in Avaloren, but became enslaved by the Arathi Empire? That would put them in a perfect position to become a playable race.

Helping the Ogres rise up and break the chains would be cool quest chain and also be a call back to when they first joined the Horde. At the very least the Arathi Empire can also provide a more variety of enemies over the Gronn.

So as I mentioned early in the thread, the Heartlands novella established that Hammerfall was the new home/capital of the AU Magā€™har. However with how it currently isnā€™t shown in-game, I got to wondering if we could end up other playable races in that state, where they have a established capital in lore, but the in-game location hasnā€™t been updated to reflect it.

For example, take the Stonemaul Ogres. Stonemaul Village is currently ruins, but I canā€™t help but wonder if we could get a book or novella that establishes that the village has been reclaimed, but in-game it remains a ruin. In that instance, I could see playable Ogres starting off in either Brackenwall Village or Orgrimmar, with the explanation that while the clan is rebuilding/upgrading the village, Stonemaul adventurers have chosen to venture forth and bring honor to the name Stonemaul.

Now I do feel that we will end up with another world revamp at some point, so I do think at some point we will get that Hammerfall Au Magā€™har capital in-game. Furthermore should playable Ogres, go this route then I can see Stonemaul Village getting properly rebuild/upgraded in that world revamp.

I always thought if Horde got Ogres Alliance would get Vrykul. I didnā€™t have this idea when I first started playing WoW, since I was 100% Horde and could care less what the Alliance got since I never played them, but it evolved over the years and saw it mentioned multiple times and thought it would work.

As far as Hobgoblins Iā€™ve only ever seen them with Goblins and since Goblins are Horde in the RTS games, I thought they shouldā€™ve been neutral personally, I canā€™t see them being Alliance. In the books Goblins are more neutral than Horde from what I remember but Alliance doesnā€™t trust them. I wouldnā€™t mind if Alliance got them but I have a feeling the majority of Alliance players would not be happy.

EDIT: Just saw this post after posting, lol.

I feel a world revamp is needed. Iā€™ve mentioned this many times over the years. They should stop expanding the world and bring it back home to what we already have. Iā€™ve said it before that they should add cave systems and floating land masses or some kind of aerial thing to expand the old zones both up and down and make each zone feel more alive again.

Iā€™m tired of the zone quests since Iā€™ve done most zones at least 25-50+ times. They should update the zone art, the quests and the rewards so we can all experience something new and help bring players back to the old zones to play through all the changes. And I wouldnā€™t mind the Trolls getting an updated city since theirs is so very basic and I feel Volā€™jin wouldā€™ve upgraded it long ago before the stupid death.
