Reflecting prisms - Orgrimmar - Saurok invasion.
That sounds like something similar to the Vulpera Foxtober event, which is something Iāve thought about doing. Thus the whole āSauroktoberā name.
Iām a little bit hesitant on doing that at present for a couple of reasons. Free time being one of them, and also I donāt know if Iād have the number of people needed to do that type of event or much interest in it. Believe me, Iād love to have Orgrimmar filled with Saurok (especially the real playable kind, of course), but I donāt know how well such an event would go. Not to mention hiccups like wanting to give out reflecting prisms and not being able to for people either not on your realm or a connected realm to yours.
Itās an idea I keep in mind though. Maybe someday if playable Saurok interest ever gets higher in levels, I could see about doing such a thing. Weāll see, as planning and running such an event would take quite a bit of time and resources.
I definitely want to do in-game Saurok events sometime, but itāll be awhile before I have a better picture of when the time is right.
Playable Saurok for the Horde please!
Today marks the 10th anniversary of Mists of Pandariaās release! The expansion Saurok made their debut in!
Wowhead has an article on the anniversary in general here:
MoP remains as my favorite expansion, and not just because of Saurok. It brought playable Pandarens, one of my most wanted races at the time, along with the Monk class, which was a very welcomed addition in my opinion. That coupled with a really cool sense of exploration and storylines really made it my favorite expansion.
And of course, with it brought us the first real Lizardmen race with the Saurok (we had dragon based races previously). At the time, I thought they would be relegated to mook quest jobbers and had little chance of ever becoming playable. Once I began to really look at them during BfA and seeing what they were capable ofā¦well, fast forward to today, and that kinda tells you my current views.
It has been awhile since I last heard rumors of a return to Pandaria in-game, possibly as part of a future expansion. I donāt know how much weight said rumors have, nor would Iād be able to guess what it would consist of, but it could be interesting if true. Maybe itād be just certain areas used again, like at the end of BfA. Regardless, if we ever did return to Pandaria, itās very possibly see Saurok sightings.
And on a similar note, with the Exploring Azeroth: Northrend book set to release soon, Iām hoping we could see Pandaria as the next subject of an Exploring Azeroth book. There is a lot of potential with exploration and we could get some updates on several of the Saurok tribes, including whether the Pandaren finally made diplomatic contact with them as Lorewalker Cho mentioned them attempting without giving up. Definitely a lot of potential to add to Saurok research if such a book gets released, in which Iāll preorder it ASAP.
Anyway, I really enjoyed MoP. Hopefully, weāll see something like it again in the future. Maybe even with Saurok. Preferably on the Horde side of that character creation screen, of course!
Playable Saurok for the Horde please!
Something Iāve been meaning to post in both my megathreads is that there is work being done in letting guilds become cross faction:
Itās a pretty exciting feature. Especially since I was considering getting my own guild just for my characters. Being able to have both Horde and Alliance characters in it is very helpful. Not to mention those who only play one faction can play with others on the other faction with cross faction grouping also being worked on.
Small story time: when I first got into WoW, I played with some people, in which one of them refused to make a Horde character. I think they didnāt like the playable races and the Horde in general. Funnily enough, they thought she would play Horde when Blood Elves came out, but it never interested her. So we mostly played Alliance when we were playing together, which was a shame since I much preferred Horde.
I get the whole War part of Warcraft is a big aspect of the franchise in general, but as someone who only ever PvEād, it was an annoyance to not be able to group with others on the other faction. Moreso since I came from Everquest, which allowed you to group with anyone regardless of race and alighment on almost every server. I see a lot of benefits coming from cross faction grouping and guilds, especially since the game has evolved in many ways since it came out.
And if weāre ever lucky enough to get playable Horde Saurok, at least theyāll be able to play with any friends made on the Alliance since cross grouping and guilds may have been implemented by then. Maybe even have them host a guild BBQ party in-game or something!
Playable Saurok for the Horde please!
Some big news launched today Iāll be posting in both my megathreads!
First off, Dragonflight will officially launch on November 28th:
Also as I was hoping, Dracthyr Evokers will be available to be made some time during the Prepatch, which has no current release date at the time of this post:
Iāll of course be covering Dracthyr stuff here when available since some aspects could be applied to Saurok should we be lucky enough to see them playable someday. I still havenāt seen anything on Dracthyr jokes or flirts, but I assume that is still coming. Iāll go more into detail on Dracthyr coverage in a future post.
And while I donāt expect much Saurok related stuff in Dragonflight, Iāll be keep an eye out for anything of Saurok interest to report back here. In the meantime, Iām just happy to be getting out of Shadowlands soon.
Playable Saurok for the Horde please!
For those who play TTRPGās like D&D, I came across a blog that had an entry that gives instructions on how to use dice to generate a random Lizardfolk tribe name, scale color, preferred melee and ranged weapons, and overall size. You can see the website here:
I figured there could be some Saurok idea inspiration here, but itās also a neat concept for creating a Lizardfolk tribe in general.
Playable Saurok for the Horde please!
Just gonna save that site for laterā¦
Happy Sauroktober everyone!
Iām hoping to find some stuff to do to celebrate the occasion throughout the month. Someday when Iām more able to, I may look into doing some in-game events. But for now, the usual posts of supporting playable Horde Saurok will have to do.
Iām also hoping to be able to sit down and finally revamping the main post of this megathread. Some sections are in need of an update, as well as trying to make the text a bit less dry to read, which is what I did with my Stonemaul Ogre megathread.
There are a lot of events in general going on this month for people, so whatever your plans are, I hope yāall have a fun, happy, and safe October!
Playable Saurok for the Horde please!
A new month means a new round of in-game race request suggestions! After all, we could use some more reptiles on that character creation screen!
At the beginning of each month, I usually send in-game feedback for each of the races I want to see and refer to their megathreads on here for more information. I figure it can only help to gain some interest in our requests of what weād like to see, though no guarantees itāll lead to that ever becoming a reality.
If youāre interested in doing something similar, I made a guide in the following post that explains how to do it in steps:
Still dream of seeing Saurok on the Horde side of that character creation screen someday!
Came across a neat Saurok art piece on Deviant Art, showing off a head of a Saurok in a pose. It was created by Shooshie-Foo and was uploaded to the website on August 13th, 2013.
āSaurokā by Shooshie-Foo on Deviant Art
Aside from the usual customization idea inspiration, this image makes me think that the hump you see on Saurok NPCās necks likely wouldnāt be there for player character models. They would look a lot better in armor without it, and it could be explained that natural born Saurok couldāve evolved over time to lose it.
As usual, Iāll continue to share artwork I find of Saurok and other Lizardmen races in general for playable Saurok idea inspiration!
Happy Sauroktober!
Dracthyr flirts and jokes, both in Dracthyr and Visage forms, have finally been revealed in a Wowhead article. Lines are listed in the following article, but Iāll also link the Youtube videos for them:
The good news is that I donāt need to make any removals of the jokes or flirts I made for Saurok in the main post of this megathread. In fact, the cold blooded comment in one of the Drachtyr lines gives me some inspiration to think of more to add in the future.
Hearing Dracthyr voices as mostly just deep and grumble like voices lets me think that Saurok voices would be much different, where they could have the usual raspy type of voice with possible emphasis on āsssā syllables. Itās a good thing, since there are many ways Saurok can be unique compared to Dracthyr.
Iāll continue to look more at Dracthyr as we come to and arrive at their release on live servers to see what could be implemented on playable Saurok. Iām excited to be able to create my Dracthyr when available as well!
Happy Sauroktober!
Itās odd. The Dracthyr voices just donāt sound like I expectedā¦ But I also canāt explain what I expected.
I do think Saurok stand to wellā¦ Stand out comparatively.
When I think of dragons in the context of WoW, their voices in dragon form sound kinda fitting to me. I didnāt really have much expectations either, aside from a possible deep type of voice.
Of course! As Iāve said before, I view it as a Night Elf and Blood Elf situation, where there are a lot of differences between the two to justify them as different playable races. Dragon fantasy is much different from Lizardmen fantasy, and I still feel like Saurok have much to add to go alongside Dracthyr.
Though I still hope Blizzard would keep an open mind and that Saurok would still be up for consideration for a promotion to playable race status. Of course, we do have multiple flavors of elf, dwarf, and so on, so that makes me feel a bit better.
Sometime after Dracthyr are released on live retail servers, Iāll be doing a comparison post between the two to try and show off the differences. Not to complain, of course, but just to show how different Dragons are to Lizardmen. Lizardmen fantasy is a favorite of mine, so I just want to show off how awesome they can be is all.
Happy Sauroktober!
Another trip to DeviantArt has yielded another art piece I wanted to share. This one is of an army of Lizardmen, which I think are not related to any specific franchise or media. It was created by the user named Hokunin and was uploaded to the website on May 13th, 2013.
āLizardsā by Hokunin on DeviantArt
A reason I wanted to share it, aside from it being awesome in general, is that it is close to how I would imagine a Saurok army marching into battle looking like. Theyāre armed, theyāre ferocious, teeth ready to bite stuff, and theyāre looking for a good battle!
Also note the one Lizardman with the skull helmet on. Another good idea of skull armor which I think would fit Saurok culture in general.
With luck, we may be able to be part of a Saurok army sometime, with members of the Horde alongside us. It would be quite the dream come true!
Happy Sauroktober!
This! This is a good way to say it. Night Elf and Blood Elf. Similar but very different.
That would be neat.
I agree. This is very good and gives them a bit of uniqueness to the rest of the Horde with wearing skulls. (Pretends to ignore the Laughing Skull Tribe.)
I canāt wait to have a Saurok character. I hope it happens someday!
With a new class coming, one of the biggest questions on peopleās minds is what happens with Legion content. MrGM has made a video that goes over Evokers in Legion.
Please note this is from the Dragonflight beta, so some things can be subject to change and I assume this could apply to new classes in the future, both regular and hero classes:
Itās about what I imagined, since I wasnāt expecing a class hall, questlines, artifact weapons, and so on. It is interesting to note this, since I imagine we will see more new classes in the future. A bit of a bummer new classes will miss out on some stuff, but understandable given how much work that wouldāve taken. A worry of mine was that Legion drastically lowered the chances of any new classes in the future, and at least we seem to have a solution, albeit not perfect of course.
Speaking of new classes, I donāt know if Saurok would bring any if they become playable. Most classes Saurok mobs can be can be covered by another class, though I am an advocate for Necromancers as a class (either a full class or as a skin for Warlocks.), which is a possibility for Saurok in my opinion. I guess a lot would depend on what would be done with playable Saurok in general.
Happy Sauroktober!
Came across this cool video that is a collection of reptile pets having their habitats decorated with Halloween stuff:
Itās pretty cool to see what people have come up with. Iām still hoping that Saurok will be able to celebrate Hallowās End in-game someday!
Also, there seems to be mention of a prepatch PTR build that is said to be a release candidate according to Wowhead:
It sounds like the Dragonflight prepatch may potentially be coming to live Retail servers soon. When an official announcement has been made, Iāll be sure to cover it here!
Happy Sauroktober!
I came across this video that goes into detail on reptile scales, skins, and other features and how theyāre utilized in nature:
Aside from the usual scale customization option inspiration, there are a few things of note to consider with Saurok. Camouflage is one, which is a potential racial of some kind Iāve mentioned before. Being able to stick to the wall is another interesting idea, though I donāt know how well thatād work in the context of WoWās current game engine.
If anything, itās still an interesting and informative video on reptile features in general. Iām sure there could be some neat things you could apply to Saurok in here.
Happy Sauroktober!
Omg I thought I was the only weirdo who wanted Saurok as playable. A thread I didnāt even know I needed
Weāve been going at it for a little over 3 years and still going strong!
And there is nothing weird about wanting Saurok playable. Lizardmen are an awesome and popular fantasy race, and Saurok have a lot of potential if they were fleshed out more. Itās a reason I made this megathread back during BfA.
Iām always happy to see another Saurok fan come here and share in the dream of seeing them on the Horde side of that character creation screen! Welcome to the megathread!
Happy Sauroktober!
