Couldnāt find an image with a lizard with a Mario cap on, but a Mario hoodie works.
Mario is one of my favorite game series, so I figured I would make a special post of sorts for today. I donāt really have any plans, myself. Maybe Iāll play a Mario game if I can, but Iāve been a bit busy.
But if anyone has any particular plans, I hope yāall have a fun, happy, and safe day of Mario related activities!
So awhile ago, Blizzard announced that the 8 hour maintenance announced for today, which was actually less than 8 hours, was to work on infrastructure as opposed to the next patch:
So unfortunately, from my understanding, no pirate shenanigans patch today from the sound of it. Which makes some sense, given the Hearthstone event and that there might be some esports stuff coming up. However, if I recall correctly, weāre still in the next patchās release date window, so who knows when itāll go live or what it will be.
Whenever stuff about it gets officially announced, Iāll be sure to help report on what it is and if Saurok are involved in someway, for better or worse. Iām guessing any pirates involved are currently at a tavern or something:
Came across a video showing voice lines for Skink units in the Lizardmen army for Total War: Warhammer 3 for different situations in the game. They speak in their own language, so you likely wonāt be able to make out anything they say in here:
The voices are a bit higher than what I would expect for a Lizardman race, but I wanted to share this to show off some of the hissing being incorporated in their speech. Itās something I could see being applied to Saurok voices and works as a good form of inspiration in general. I assume it would be more prevalent in a Saurok voice if they were to ever be angry, which is something you wouldnāt want to ever have in front of you.
I also want that Skink plushie shown in the video. Honestly, I could go for a Saurok plushie as well. A shame there isnāt really any Saurok merchandise in general for WoW, as Iād instantly buy them up ASAP. Maybe somedayā¦
Anyway, Iāll continue to look for other examples of Lizardmen race voice lines to share for playable Horde Saurok idea inspiration!
The next patch date has been announced for March 19th:
Looks like weāll finally be able to find out what that pirate patch will be, as all we know currently is that it is a limited time event.
Not expecting much in the way of Saurok, but Iāll keep an eye on it and report on whatever the event actually is. Itāll be interesting to see how things are, given how secretive Blizzard has been about it. Until then, Iāll be brushing up on my sea shanties and learning how to not fight like a dairy farmer!
Well the details of the pirate event have been revealed: Itās a 40 man battle royale in a mode that is separate from Retail and Classic WoW that gives rewards for both:
Apparently you make a new character for this mode and fight in Arathi Highlands. By playing the mode, you earn some rep with a pirate faction to raise renown, up to 40 I think, to earn some rewards. Some of which have been revealed:
And if you want to know how to access this mode, this tells you how:
Iām assuming the playable races consist of only races that are playable in Retail WoW. So Iād be surprised if anything Saurok related comes from it.
Iām planning to wait and see videos of the mode before I consider giving it a try and giving an actual opinion on this, although to be honest, I was expecting something in Retail WoW that offered PvE activities, so to see a PvP only oriented mode is a bit disappointing to me as a PvE player. Iāll have to see the event in action to give a better opinion on it, however.
I do really like pirate stuff and that alleged 750 tenders would be helpful for Trading Post stuff. On the other hand, Iām not really fond of PvP in MMOās at all, though this being its own separate thing from regular PvP does help quite a bitā¦well, until a meta inevitably forms.
The event is an interesting idea, but it remains to be seen how well it actually does. And I assume itāll be a day or so before it is fully functional, given that this didnāt have any PTR testing beforehand. So weāll see how it does after it goes live for a bit.
In celebration of the recent Plunderstorm mode, Iāve been trying to find Lizardmen pirate art pieces to share. One I found on DeviantArt is of a Lizardman who happens to have hair helping to fend off a kracken. This was created by CindyAvelino and was uploaded to the website on August 13th, 2021.
Got a neat video on my Youtube Recommendations showing off someoneās Warhammer Lizardmen/Seraphon army that was made and painted, complete with a neat temple diorama:
It has been awhile since Iāve found a Lizardmen/Seraphon army showcase video, and I like to show these off since it helps a lot with the playable Saurok idea inspiration. Iāll be continuing to keep an eye out for more showcases to share in the future!
And someday, I hope to be able to build my own Lizardmen/Seraphon army!
So my b-day is coming up in the near future and because I honestly donāt have any special plans for it, I thought Iād go ahead and make a post celebrating it here and in a few race request megathreads I frequent.
And speaking of birthdays, even IRL lizards get to celebrate their birthdays, as shown in these videos:
I know that if we ever play playable Horde Saurok, Iāll be celebrating my Saurok charactersā birthdays here along with others who make their Saurok characters too. Speaking of, Iām sure you can guess what will be my yearly birthday wish as usual!
Seeing as Saurok Monks would both be likely, given they reside on the continent where Monks are a fairly popular career choice, and also be very popular, since a lot of people would want to recreate their Iksar Monks from Everquest 1 and 2, I looked for some Lizardmen Monk related art pieces on DeviantArt and came across a Lizardfolk Monk from D&D!
This art piece of a Lizardfolk Monk comes from ArtisanAlex, who uploaded it to DeviantArt on July 8th, 2008.
This really looks Saurok-like. It really helps to imagine what Saurok Monks could look like. Not to mention that having teeth and claws likely would help boost their attack powers quite a bit. I could definitely see Saurok Monks being a really popular choice.
As usual, Iāll continue to look for art pieces of Lizardmen races in general to share for playable Horde Saurok idea inspiration!
Aprilās Trading Post items have officially been revealed:
And the monthly reward is this neat duck battle pet:
While nothing Saurok specific this month, the turtle mount looks like something that Saurok would equip Pandarian turtles with:
Which would make a bit of sense, given theyāve done that with mushan beasts and at least one tribe has tamed turtles. I donāt see turtles as a racial mount for Saurok, but Iām sure they would look neat on this mount.
Moving on, I am amused with the shark hat. I imagine a Saurok underwater going towards someone who just finds the shark amusing, only for the Saurok to jump up and do a surprise RAWR afterwards. Might be a good way to sneak up on unsuspecting enemies.
I also noticed the jade clever had some flavor text about the Mogu:
āFor 3,000 years the Mogu empire ruled Pandaria. This relic is a testament to their cruelty.ā
I could see Saurok wielding that from raids on Mogu treasure vaults and such. Then again, they might want to wield their own crafted weapons, given the disdain they would have towards the Mogu.
Anyway, that is about all of Saurok interest I saw. Iāll report on each monthās Trading Post items as theyāre revealed just in case there is anything Saurok related.
Oh they do love eggs. The Slitherscale Tribe in the Jade Forest gathered cloud serpent eggs to snack on, for example. Iām sure many other Saurok tribes would like eggs in general as well.
Also thinking about your Saurok cooking eggs made me think of Chef Lenny the Lizard cooking eggs:
I originally thought to do a post I usually do each year around this time, but I think Iāve decided to go in a different direction starting this year. Honestly, I was running out of material and it was difficult to keep making something up each year.
So hope yāall have some fun today and enjoy the fun jokes you usually find on different web sites!
Nothing wrong with that at all. We all have our own preferences, which makes for a great and interesting MMO community.
I personally would like to see Jinyu and Ankoan playable someday, and a Jinyu/Hozen combination would be a really neat throwback to MoP while being a pretty great combo of new playable races.
If youāre interested in playable Jinyu, the Jinyu/Ankoan megathread would love to have your support:
There is no Hozen megathread currently that I am aware of.
MoP has a lot of great NPC races that would make for awesome playable races. Hopefully weāll see that happen someday!
