The Unofficial Saurok Playable Race Discussion Megathread! šŸŠ

This lizard is off to spread the word across the land that it is a new month and that everyone should be submitting in-game suggestions for playable Saurok and other races we want to see playable. And you too can help this lizardā€™s mission to get playable Horde Saurok and make them and many players happy! Iā€™ll tell you how!

With the beginning of each month, I make in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads on these forums. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly I feel is reasonable and not that intrusive or annoying.

If youā€™re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:

The lack of playable Horde Saurok drives me crazy, so hopefully wheel be able to steer into a better direction! :motorcycle: :lizard:

Its that time again where I scream at Blizzard for the things I want! Whoo!

While we just now got into April, weā€™re getting closer to June. And you know what that means? Iā€™ll tell you!

June 2nd will be our megathreadā€™s 5 year anniversary! Huzzah! :fireworks:

5 years is a little bit of a milestone. Honestly, it still feels like weā€™re still in the middle of BfA when I first started this megathread. Good timesā€¦

Anyway, I once again donā€™t really have any particular plans to celebrate other than the usual post. Iā€™m still in the process of job hunting and working on getting more skills and stuff to put on my resume, so I donā€™t think I can plan any in-game event or so, not that I think a lot of people would be interested in one. Such is the life of RL obligations, sadlyā€¦

But if anyone has any ideas, Iā€™m open to suggestions! And of course Iā€™ll still be trying my best to maintain both my megathreads as well. Likely for years to comeā€¦for better or worse.

5 years and still strong. Hopefully it doesnā€™t take 5+ years to see playable Horde Saurok some day! :muscle: :lizard:

I came across a neat art piece of a Lizardfolk Monk, and this time it is on X (formerly Twitter)!

It was uploaded by the user named ā€œLaser ā€˜Lizardā€™ LLUISā€ on Nov. 18th, 2020.

Just another example of how neat Saurok Monks could look. As I said before, I can see them being a popular combo from people wanting to recreate their Iksar Monk characters from Everquest 1 and 2, and the combo makes a lot of sense given Saurok are from Pandaria. The scale colors would also look great as a customization option too!

Iā€™ll continue to keep an eye out for art pieces of various Lizardmen races to share for more playable Horde Saurok idea inspiration! :lizard:

Looks like our Saurok Ambassador finally made his way to the Dragon Isles. Hopefully heā€™ll be able to establish good relations and not be confused with the Tarasek.

I need to go around the Dragon Isles and look for locales to take some Saurok screenshots sometime. Actually Iā€™m a bit behind in doing Saurok screenshots in general. I should start working on that for some variety in here. :camera:

On another note, I saw this neat trailer for a game called ā€œAmber Isle.ā€ It looks like Animal Crossing but with dinosaurs in it. You can even design your own character:

It looks really neat. Maybe I can make a Saurokosaurus in there for my character. :sauropod:

And lastly, I was recently helping my mother, who I refer to as Momzak, shop in Walmart and I saw this small robotic chameleon figurine from the Sonic the Hedgehog games called a ā€œNewtron.ā€ It looks really neat:

I of course had to have it, since it is fitting for my brand. Makes me wonder if Saurok engineers would make chameleon spy robotsā€¦

I actually thought about looking for various Lizardmen figures and such and having a shelf dedicated to it for fun. Iā€™ve seen others do something similar, such as a shelf for droids and also a shelf for Godzilla figures and other similar monsters. Itā€™s a fun idea for collecting and such.

I also will need to work on where to keep my Lizardmen/Seraphon army whenever I can get around to building one. Maybe an epic diorama or something for display would be best.

Anyway, Iā€™ll see if I can do some more Saurok specific stuff for in here. :lizard:

Cataclysm Classicā€™s pre-patch is coming on April 30th, with the whole thing being released on May 20th:

Obviously, Cataclysm was before Saurok were a thing, but I wanted to note this because there is a decent chance that MoP Classic could be a thing.

Not that I expect anything new to pop up with Saurok in MoP Classic, of course. I canā€™t remember much that was removed during the expansion other than the legendary cloak questline. If there was anything else, I am unaware of it.

But on the bright side, Saurok would get part of the spotlight again in MoP Classic. There were instances during it where Saurok werenā€™t all in feral RAWR Iā€™MA EAT YOUR FACE moods, so it could be helpful in some ways.

Maybe there could be some Saurok related pre-order bonuses in a bundleā€¦which I REALLY hope would be applied to Retail as well, of course. Maybe a Saurok related mount, something they either built or a beast they use, or mini-pet, like a Saurok child. Iā€™d totally have them hang out with my Ogre child mini pet.

Anyway, assuming MoP does get announced in the future, Iā€™ll be sure to cover announcements over it. I donā€™t know if Iā€™ll go through MoP Classic, however. To be honest, Retail has been taking up a lot of my time, so I havenā€™t really been able to do much in other versions of WoW. And Iā€™ve covered MoP Saurok stuff throughout the years of this megathread, so Iā€™d be surprised if I found anything new in it. But weā€™ll see if/when MoP Classic becomes a thing.

Of course, it would be a great time to introduce playable Horde Saurok in Retail to celebrate MoP Classic!..ok, itā€™d take a Christmas miracle or two to see that happen, but let a Darkspear Troll dream! :lizard:

Some big news was announced yesterday. WoW Remix: MoP is being developed, which is a timed self contained version of MoP with accelerated leveling and all sorts of rewards which can be taken back to WoW Retail:

This seems to be a separate mode similar to Plunderstorm, which is its own thing. However, it sounds as if you access it from Retail WoW by making a character that is designated for this mode. Eventually, that character (or characters if youā€™ll be able to make more than one) will eventually be able to be played on WoW Retail servers.

There is a lot of confusion about this in general, since originally, there were comments about extra character slots being added:

Which was then edited to remove any mention of more character slots:

Iā€™m hoping weā€™ll be able to get more character slots, seeing as I donā€™t really have many spare slots (I think I have just 1 spare slot currently) and I donā€™t want to delete any of my characters. Plus any characters I make for this mode I would want to keep, and I also could use more character slots in general for potential new races and classes in the future. Iā€™ll have to report on what all is done when we get clarification.

Anyway, rewards from this event have been slowly datamined, since PTR testing is coming up for it. I havenā€™t seen anything Saurok related, though I did notice a couple of mushan mounts were part of the rewards:

It makes me think mushan mounts as a Saurok racial mount could still be a possibility with these models being edited. It could still give some prestige with the current mushan mounts in Retail.

That is about all Iā€™ve seen so far of Saurok interest, though it as this mode is still being developed and stuff is still being datamined, we could see more rewards in the future. I will be particularly excited if we happen to see Saurok children appear, even if they would be like the Ogre children models that are battle pets.

I donā€™t know what all might get changed in this version of MoP, as itā€™s suppose to be mostly the same as what MoP originally went through. Iā€™m not sure if there will be more lore tidbits and such added in a similar way that Season of Discovery did, but it could be worth a look.

As such, Iā€™ll be reporting on more news as this mode is shown off more and Iā€™ll see about playing it to see if there is anything of Saurok interest to report back. Since this is its own mode and mostly what MoP was and is currently, I donā€™t expect much new to report back, but you never know.

It is interesting to see MoP get quite a bit of love in several ways. This also is a pretty great way to get Saurok in part of the spotlight again. Iā€™m also assuming that MoP Classic may still get announced in the future, which will also help with that. So maybe we could see some more Saurok stuff in the future if weā€™re lucky!

As for my initial thoughts on the Remix mode in generalā€¦Iā€™m very mixed. Iā€™ll need to see what itā€™ll end up being, but there is a part of me that isnā€™t particularly keen on separate timed modes with FOMO attached, as well as demanding that I invest a lot of time to get the rewards and such. Something like Plunderstorm is different enough to be understandable, but I think for this remix mode, I wouldā€™ve rather have events in Retail WoW instead that anyone could join in and do and could potentially be evergreen content. I think Iā€™ll need to play this mode myself to have a better opinion, so Iā€™ll hold off judgement for now.

Anyway, Iā€™ll continue to report on more news on Remix as we get them. Definitely some potential for new Saurok search! But like I said, MoP seems to be getting a lot of attention and love, which is a good thing. If only we could get playable Horde Saurok in Retail WoW to celebrate Remix and the eventual MoP Classic! :lizard:

I hope I can get one of those Mushan. I donā€™t think I have any of that kind of mount yetā€¦ and I do want that to be my Saurokā€™s mount if/when they are added to the roster.

Speaking of mushan mounts, the Son of Galleon mount will still drop from Galleon, but itā€™ll also be available to purchase with bronze, a currency in MoP Remix:

ā€œOn the other hand, Rare drops that are available in Dragonflight today, such as the Son of Galleon or the Astral Cloud Serpent, will drop in Remix and can be purchased by Remix characters using the Bronze currency.ā€

Iā€™m sure a lot of people will be happy to do that as opposed to trying 4,000+ times like I did to get it.

Of course, MoP Remix is still in development, so anything is subject to change. Seeing as MoP is THE expansion for Saurok related stuff, Iā€™ll report stuff of interest as I see it. :lizard:

A sample of vendor items in MoP Remix was shown on Wowhead, including some RNG toy drops from mobs on Retail:

One of the items here is the Salyin Battle Banner, which summons a Salyin Saurok to run ahead of you and roar at enemies, causing them to draw aggro (only works in MoP area), shown here:

Itā€™s not too hard of an item to get on Retail, but itā€™s still great to see the option to get items this way.

There is also this toy that can take on the appearance of your target:

Which if I recall how it works, could be useful for taking screenshots of things like your character as a Saurok without glyph of disguise. A comment on there says it doesnā€™t break on combat like Glyph of Disguise, so I might want to test that. Also took a few kills to get on Retail, but wasnā€™t too bad of a camp.

Iā€™m also eyeing that Pterrodax mount on that vendor:

Might end up using that for this character. It would also look good on some Saurok characters, should they ever become playable.

It also looks like youā€™ll start in MoP Remix with flying, dragonflying, and 36 slot bags:

Iā€™ll continue to keep an eye out for more MoP Remix news and anything of Saurok interest to report back here! :lizard:

Wowhead has a couple of articles listing all current mount and toy rewards from MoP Remix you can purchase with bronze. Please note that any of this is subject to change in some fashion, given that MoP Remix is still under development and that there may be other rewards you can earn that arenā€™t purchasable with bronze.

The first article involves mounts, which lists both the mounts exclusive to the mode and the rare mounts that drop off various mobs in Retail:

Nothing really new Saurok related I saw. Son of Galleon is still listed, which is great for those wanting it and there are the other two mushan mounts that are MoP Remix exclusive.

The second article lists all the toys you can get, most of which drop off rares in Retail:

Aside from the Salyin Banner toy, I did notice a flute item:

Which drops off this Saurok mob:

I donā€™t think I talked about this mob. I guess some Saurok do like music and small animals, since the flute causes nearby critter mobs to follow you. Bit of a cute image to think of.

Iā€™m surprised there hasnā€™t been any battle pet rewards shown so far. Then again, as I said, MoP Remix is still under development, so maybe thatā€™ll be announced later. I will say that if I see anything involving a Saurok child model, I will be pretty excited. Maybe we can loot a Saurok egg to get them or something, but weā€™ll see if such a thing occurs. Iā€™ll definitely pull a Mandalorian if that ever happens.

Iā€™ll continue to keep an eye on MoP Remix news to report on and share anything Saurok related, old and new. :lizard:

I was able to find a link on Wowhead that lists those Saurok maces:

The links to each mace is below, though oddly enough, they all say it is the green one despite only one being green:

Assuming these are earnable in MoP Remix, I may have to add them to my ā€œto getā€ list. Gotta get any Saurok related items I can! :moneybag::lizard:

Looked a bit more into MoP Remix and wanted to report some more general stuff, which is all subject to change given it is going on on the PTR if it isnā€™t there already.

From my understanding in MoP Remix, you begin on the Timeless Isle and are brought to MoPā€™s timeline via Bronze Dragons. I donā€™t really know why theyā€™re doing this storyline-wise. I assume there is a reason other than ā€œADVENTURE! WEEEE!ā€, though I donā€™t really expect a deep reason for that. Makes me wonder if there is a study on the MoP timeline for some reason, which would be interesting given the focus on MoP in general lately.

Anyway, youā€™ll be locked to MoP zones during this mode if I understand correctly. Just about everything should be exactly the same storyline-wise unless stuff gets added similar to Season of Discovery. However, leveling speed is increased and I think characters are more powerful than normal, so it might be a bit crazy-go-nuts at least at first. Hopefully multi mob-tapping will be a thing when this launches.

As I said before, I donā€™t really expect much new with Saurok stuff, but itā€™s definitely worth looking to keep an eye out. I still feel like the focus on MoP for several things has been interesting. Not that I think it is leading to anything, of course, but itā€™s still fun to see my favorite expansion get a lot of love.

On another note, Wowhead finally made an article about the removal of the ā€œmore character slots will be addedā€ mention on the announcement, though they speculate it is unlikely to happen now with nothing concrete about it:

Iā€™m still hoping more character slots will be added. I ended up having to reroll a character to be able to play this mode, and while it works for me, there are others who may have to delete a character they donā€™t want to in order to play this mode. Not to mention that we could see similar modes in the future, and itā€™ll be another issue as we get more new playable races and possibly classes in the future. So hopefully Blizzard changes their mind and will add some more character slots per account to help those at or near the character cap and wanting to play the mode.

If anything changes, Iā€™ll be sure to report on that. Iā€™ve been right at the character cap and hope that weā€™ll be able to get more character slots in the future. Itā€™s something that, and speaking for myself here, Iā€™d be willing to pay to get more slots for my account.

Maybe if I get enough character slots, Iā€™d make my own personal Horde Saurok army! If they become playable of course. :lizard:

Iā€™m also wondering about the concept. What are the Bronze (and Infinite) flights looking into exactly? Are they trying to fix something? Are they applying the new idea that brought the two sides together that some things could be changed rather than having to stick so rigidly to the one true timeline? Are they trying to re-establish the true timeline?

Can we have Saurok?

As much as Iā€™d like to think there is a legitimate reason for the Bronze Dragonflight to take Horde and Alliance members back to MoP of time, I canā€™t help but feel like at best, weā€™ll see Chromi, Soridormi, and others in beach gear while sitting on lawn chairs telling us to go have fun because reasons and not to worry about that pesky impending doom the Jailer mentioned.

If I were to make a guess, maybe with all the titan related stuff weā€™ll be dealing with in the future, maybe weā€™re learning more about the enemy Mogu clans and their artifacts that can only be observed during this timeline. And wishful thinking makes me hope they would want to learn more about the Saurok, as they could be key for winning wars against any new Mogu uprisings, which is a possibility when the titans are involved. I still think a Horde Saurok/Alliance Rajani Mogu pairing would work really well for such a storyline, in my own personal opinion of course.

As I said, I donā€™t really expect much story to come out of it, but darned if it doesnā€™t give me some sort of hope of our playable Horde Saurok feedback with the focus on MoP for quite awhile. Iā€™m sure that would take a Christmas miracle or two, however.

Iā€™ll keep an eye out for more things to report as MoP remix gets tested and stuff officially gets announced. :lizard:

There has been a lot of TWW news gradually being announced since yesterday. I picked out a few things of interest to discuss for this post, though Iā€™ll be keeping an eye on more upcoming news to post of anything of interest.

First off, Dracthyr will be getting more class options in the future:

I thought I would mention this because I donā€™t see this having any effect on playable Saurok chances. Dragons are dragons and lizards are lizards.

Plus if we can have multiple flavors of elves and even a new Dwarf race as a leading expansion announcement, I see no reason why we couldnā€™t get Saurok, Sethrak, Drakonids, Tortollans, and any other reptilian races alongside Dracthyr. Moreso when theyā€™re all particularly unique.

Speaking of, next is some news on the Earthen, including their racials:

What I wanted to mention about them is the racial where they donā€™t eat food other than gems:

It got me wondering if Saurok could get a racial where they get a bonus eating meat related food. Of course that would require putting every food item in the game in a meat and not meat category and would stockpiling meat to maximize gainsā€¦which as a Saurok, you should be doing anyway, but still, itā€™s a fun thought.

Also makes me wonder if Earthen Mages will summon gems to munch on instead of food they canā€™t consumeā€¦you think maybe Saurok Mages would summon meat? Maybe stuff like meat buns or giant turkey legs. Seems like something they would have as a big priority.

Lastly, I wanted to mention in the Wowcast yesterday, they specifically mentioned that the new expansion area is close to Pandaria. Which, as you may know, Saurok have been traveling off of, so it makes me wonder still if we could see any Saurok in the new expansion area. Likely not, but still something to consider.

Seems like weā€™ve had a lot of Pandaria stuff lately, and in thinking about itā€¦

-Exploring Azeroth: MoP came out awhile ago.

-MoP Remix was recently announced.

-TWWā€™s continent we quest on is very close to Pandaria.

-Titan related stuff sounds like an upcoming theme, where Mogu were created by titans and could play a role in the future, possibly as antagonists.

-Saurok would likely have artifacts and knowledge of Titan stuff from vault raiding and would have tactics to be able to take down enemy Mogu and possibly enemy Titans fairly easilyā€¦

Ok, sure, this is all wishful thinking. But it seems interesting that stuff is aligning kinda nicely in the background for Pandaria related stuff. And if there are enemy Titans and Mogu who want to dominate the world (of Warcraft!), it could be written to have Saurok give a helping handā€¦just saying!

Iā€™ll be keeping an eye on more TWW news of interest to report back here, which is still gradually coming out!

MoP Remix will be releasing 1 week after 10.2.7! However, we have no release date on whenever that patch will be released at the time of this post. Wowhead article is below:

Iā€™ll be sure to report on release dates of both when they are officially announced!

I think stuff in MoP Remix is still getting slowly revealed, datamined, and such, so Iā€™ll keep an eye for any other official announcements about anything Saurok related in that regard.

Any potential new Saurok stuff to report on is always an exciting time! :lizard:

I came across a neat art piece on DeviantArt involving Argonians from the Elder Scrolls series in a battle scene fighting against some Dark Elves (aka Dunmer I think) since they had enslaved them before. It was created by VictoriaDAEDRA and was uploaded to the website on June 8th, 2015.

ā€œRevenge of Argoniansā€ by VictoriaDAEDRA on DeviantArt

As Iā€™ve mentioned before, something similar between Argonians and Saurok (and also Iksar from Everquest) is that they were both enslaved by other beings before eventually gaining their freedom from an uprising.

I wanted to share this art piece as it is a pretty good inspiration for imagining how Saurok could have looked when they decided they had enough of the evil Mogu empire and decided to break off from themā€¦and also break the faces of evil Mogu, of course. I imagine there was a lot more teeth and RAWRing involved in such a rebellion. Although if I recall correctly, Saurok opted to utilize hit and run tactics for the most part. Messing with Lizardmen of any kind is not a smart idea in general!

Iā€™ll continue to keep an eye out for neat art pieces to share for playable Horde Saurok idea inspiration! :lizard:
