The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I wasn’t talking about Allied races, i was talking about HE, that in the future could be an Allied races or a main race, who knows? By the other hand, i read in the forum a lot of people who loves allied races, i see in game a lot of allied races (specially in low level dungeons), among my guildmates there are several of them who have allied races and those one that they haven’t they don’t get upset for seeing to their guildmates playing with those races.

Well, to his credit, he’s almost spent a year without mentioning High Elves by name on camera.

Generalized “were looking at feedback” has been enough to placate you guys for almost an entire year.

How long can we play the “we’re listening on one hand” and “in my other closed hand there is empty air” game?

I can’t wait for Mechagnomes and that renewed forum fury over Alliance allied races from the masses, as if we don’t know they’re coming.

Void Elves were already announced by that point.

Which means that dev was aware of the size of the request for High Elves.

Also, you still don’t seem to have any real understanding of what Ion said. “No plans in the near term.”

You also seem to be stuck in a single point in time and are ignoring everything he has said during 2019.

Void elves were playable at that point, actually.

Good old cherry picking!

It’s the same point everyone is stuck because there hasn’t been official hard, tangible words on or about High Elves from any other source since.

Alex’s comments at Blizzcon, if they could even be called that, would be the most recent time they were even alluded to, and even he didn’t say their name.

Also, please, latch onto nebulous things like “near-term”. Sounds like a rebranded Blizzard Soon™ to me. Maybe we should update the meme.

The only people stuck at that moment are you and anti-alliance trolls.

I love how you are like, “Let’s really expand one half of his comment from last year’s blizzcon. I’m going to read his mind.” And you stick your head in the sand for anything written after that point.

Anything written after that point? What exactly have they said regarding High Elves, specifically, since then?

Or am I supposed to suspend disbelief and follow the notion that all the nebulous comments regarding general player feedback were totally only talking about this thread and only about High Elves?

Well, there’s Afrasiabi’s “Don’t give up hope”.

…which was in response to a question about “High Elf-like” customizations to Void Elves, something I’ve seen multiple people here shoot down as something they do not want.

Haha. Do you believe anything you are saying right now?

Of course I do.
Alex’s comments were so short and general it’s comical to actually go transcribe it word for word and call it High Elf support or addressing them at all.

Then again, this is the group scouring BFA for portal mages and calling it meaningful.

More cherry picking. You only choose the data you like that agrees with your bias.

I don’t think you are really looking into the context of that answer.

While the question was about customization for void elves, his answer was directed to the high elf threads.

It was something like: “Don’t give up hope. Be civil, keep discussing, we are hearing.”

I know the context of that entire interview. Alex’s comments lasted all of 6 seconds and High Elves were not among his words, even if he was alluding to the desire for High Elf looks.

No dev is ever going to stomp on a player’s passion. That’s just bad PR. That doesn’t mean, however they’re going to turn around and deliver on everything players want, either. They let it flitter about in a nebulous cloud, as they have been.

So, I guess the discussion he mentioned must have been about Pathfinder, right?

Yeah, “Don’t give up hope” doesn’t apply to people that want customization options for Void Elves.

He says they have to specifically say High elves, ignoring that there is no way to do that without confirming High Elves as an Allied Race.

“We aren’t announcing any Allied Races at the moment, but we are listening to your feedback about High Elves!” = Announcement.

Me too. I love what we saw at Blizzcon. I’m rolling one as soon as they’re available.

Also why do you care that we want High Elves? At what point does it become clear to you that no argument that you can muster will dissuade us from asking Blizzard to add High Elves?

If the addition of High Elves makes you think that your character is less special, that’s something you did to yourself. High Elves becoming playable in no way invalidates your enjoyment and appreciation of Blood Elves, nor does it reduce the fun you’ve had in the past. It does not reduce the fun you will have in the future, unless you let it.

I don’t know if anyone recalls, but a few times on the old forums people actually tallied the number of people in various High Elf threads that were pro and against. (I did it once; unfortunately I can’t recall the names of the others)

Pretty much every thread, pro High Elf players outnumbered anti High Elf players.

I’d actually like to go through and do something like that again. Maybe not on this topic, but on the other, smaller ones.
