Hm. My watch must be wrong.
I thought it was time for a tired old “but muh models” argument but it’s actually “there’s not enough of them” o’clock.
/yawn
These old arguments get boring to read. Can’t you guys come up with new ones? I mean every single argument you present can be refuted with lore, previous dev decisions, or just plan common sense.
It’s REALLY hard not to condescend to y’all as you seem to be unable to comprehend even the most basic principles being discussed on this thread. That you come in here at all with the same tired arguments expecting to sidetrack this thread is sad.
“There’s not enough of them.” - Refuted and, given the creation of Void Elves as a “crack squadron” formed from a one-time event, not a valid argument. We have orcs from an alternate dimension. The rules of “population” are out the window.
“Blood Elves are High Elves.” - No. Blood Elves WERE High Elves who now call themselves Blood Elves. The same as Void Elves were Blood Elves. High Elves are the blue eyed, fair skinned children of Quel’thalas that never let go of their original heritage. They stand beside the Alliance and they’re everywhere.
“But muh models, faction identity, etc” - How exactly does one particular race become the sole ringbearer for the faction identify of the Horde? What is the fear here? That a lot of Blood Elf players will bolt for Alliance if they have a fair skinned elf option on the other faction? Is the desire to play Horde really that fragile? Do you seriously think it’s going to destroy faction balance if High Elves are added to the game? If you do, then I have a bridge to sell you. The fact that most of you post on/play Blood Elves just screams “I only chose Horde because I wanted to play a fair skinned elf so don’t make me regret my decision by adding another fair skinned elf on the opposite faction cause that undermines the last ___ years of my life.” This is honestly THE hardest argument to NOT feel condescending towards y’all over. Seriously. Game pixles. That’s all they are. YOU are NOT an actual Blood Elf. No one is trying to “steal your identity.”
“You already have High Elves playable on the Alliance and they’re the most played Allied Race.” - No. We have Void Elves. Stop worrying that there are people who are playing Void Elves who would rather play High Elves or are critical of Void Elves. I played a human and gnome and I was insanely critical of the models for years. In a game with limited customization, there’s likely genuine complaints about most models in the game. The fact that people are playing Velfs AND critical of them proves that even though they’re the most played AR, it’s hardly a slam dunk success considering a percentage of the people playing them would rather play an actual High Elf.
Just stop. Stop making up lore (“maybe not more than 100” or “everyone hates the High Elves”). Stop freaking out about your models (obviously they’d make them different from Blood Elves aesthetically). Stop worrying about the numbers of them out there (one recruitment scenario in Dalaran or Outland or a portal through time and we’ll be hip deep in High Elves even if we didn’t just rally all the ones we see in Azeroth proper).
The game will not break if High Elves are added. Your game experience will be no different than it was the day before High Elves were added. Maybe go find a race you’d like added to the game and start your own megathread instead of coming in here and trying to sideline this thread with your very … VERY … tiring and unoriginal counterpoints.
