The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

Why not?
It would be cool to see them again.

They can barely develop Umbric, meanwhile Alleria and Locus Walker waste away

But adding several characters and giving each some text showing their perspective on the void, on their condition and other matters (like being in the Alliance, wanting to return to Silvermoon or whatever) makes the race more interesting and varied as whole.

And having old known faces in the race help us connect with it.

They donā€™t mean as big shot npcā€™s.

Would be nice to see them in Telogrus Rift with a line of chat to eachother.

Agreed mostly but idk about that one NPC because she is just a stand-in for Christie Golden who is a loremaster.

Iā€™d probably just rather see an original Monk NPC.

Iā€™d also update their event in Silvermoon. Now, they would be preaching for more elves to leave the city and seek shelter in Alliance lands. Then the magisters would summon a priest to take care of them, but it would be Ennas and Lyria who would incapacitate them, then teleport into the Void.

Itā€™s just a class trainer. She wouldnā€™t even be a void elf, just some text on ā€œHelping our friend achieve balance.ā€ It would explain why velves can be monks, and the character does not need to have any big role beyond that.

Doesnt exist for any of the ARs, which is sad. Look at the LFD for example. All I have is the Captainā€¦and thatā€™s it.

Which is also good, but hasnt happened. Letā€™s be realistic.

They arent known faces. It is like saying having some random named quest mob for DIs show upā€¦very few people are going to recognize the character.

It would be nice to see a quarter of the bs in Telogrus to be actually seen in the game.

You are wrong. Lightforged alone have Captain Fareeya, Tā€™paartos, Archmage Yā€™mera, Grand Vindicator Sorvos, Baraat the Long Shot, Grand Lector Enaara and Blademaster Telaamon (RIP, you wonā€™t be forgotten). Plus secondary cast in Lothraxion and Vigilant Quoram.

I donā€™t know why only Quoram and Fareeya are present in the Vindicaar post-Legion, but lightforged have a nice balanced cast that only needs to appear more. Yā€™mera, Enaara and Tā€™partos are all interesting characters on their own right.

Which is why it should happen.

They mean something for us, or we wouldnā€™t be citing them.
Pulling small characters and giving them new roles is the way characters grow and become important over time.

Characters like Nazgrim, Amber Kearnan or Admiral Taylor started small and became great over time. A pity Blizzard killed all of themā€¦ (But Nazgrim is backā€¦ Horde bias!)

And I still miss the other SI-7 agents from MoP. There were also a lot of interesting characters in the Horde party from that expansion.

Never seen again

The five champions who were stuck on Argus and dont appear on the Vindicaar. The one time one appears is to die.

Mister Zero Lore Relevance. Also Mister Zero Dialogue.

Yea you guys would instantly remember them because you guys utilize the lore of queldorei.

What about someone not as engaged in here, the majority?

I clearly remember the DI spy from Loch Modan. Doesnt mean others do.

Nazgrim was the most interesting of the three. And even thenā€¦hes not really interesting as a Death Knight.

Existing means he can appear any time. The lightforged are better because he exists.

I donā€™t understand why you think NOT having characters is better than having them.

One died, but it was a memorable death.

Does not matter. He can appear any time.

Others would wander through Telogrus, see these guys, check their gossip text and learn about them. Some would check Wowpedia and see these guys have a history. Thatā€™s all that matters.

Taylor and Amber were wasted, but were good characters with fans. Nazgrim is still ā€œaliveā€, he can do whatever Blizzard decides at any moment. Existing is the first step for a character to be used meaningfully.

I canā€™t understand why taking some characters that already exist and using them in new ways could do any harm. Any story is enhanced by the little details.

Are you making an argument that they shouldnā€™t add any more races?

Ever evah? Foevah eva?

He might as well not exist, because he comes off as a one time character. He doesnt even reappear on the Vindicaar for new LFD.

Because having a backlog of characters that arent shown for racial flavor is terrible.

Ehhhhhhhh.

They didnt even explain him in game, nor gave him dialogue on the Vindicaar.

Which I have nothing against.

I agree.

Auric waves hi.

No Iā€™m making an argument that ARs are utter garbage.

Oh! what if they ended up as part of Umbricā€™s group? TWIST

At this point Warcraft is always going to have volume issues.

Theyā€™ve got limited resources and have a story to tell, so I donā€™t expect to see much of the Allied Races.

Would be nice if theyā€™d make playable the race they use constantly though.

Some of then are underdeveloped, lack in customization options or are unappealing? Yes, but that can be fixed.
Is the Allied Race system itself bad? No, itā€™s not perfect, but it can be upgraded by removing the exalted reputation requirement.

More options = better.

Not always. If most options are underdeveloped (Void Elves), they come off horribly.

We are discussing him, arenā€™t we? You just cited him, so he must mean something.

Itā€™s better for Auric to exist than not.

Thereā€™s no shortage of characters that started small and grew over time. Keeshan and Kelsey come to mind. Heck, Spymaster Sebastian Shaw was used for almost nothing until Legion started giving him attention.

Thereā€™s no problem in the lightforged cast existing. The mistake is to forget to use it.
Thereā€™s a huge problem with the void elves not having a proper cast.

Then why bash suggestions to make them better?

If you are saying they shouldnā€™t exist, I agree, but they do, so I want them to be better at least.
