Well this thread exploded while I was gone.

Glad to see us still going strong.

tbf, in the repost i would prioritize what the identity of the alliance high elves is besides just they prefer the human alliance to the orcish/troll horde

crack the nut the devs cant! good night and gl! :+1:

Yeah, look, there’s no denying the original post is showing its age. Unfortunately, the way the new forum was built means we’re no longer able to edit it (IIRC).

And I mean, building the forum around characters names when you can change those characters’ names is kind of a really silly oversight, but I digress.

At some point we will have to remake the thread (I heard the limit is 20k posts?) so hopefully we can sort of do some general housekeeping and make the post cover all of the bases more effectively in future.

That being said? Judging any thread of this size by the OP is problematic in itself, in that the discussion is obviously going to evolve over 15k posts. So I think any reasonable reader should come into this thread with that understanding to begin with.

After all, when was the last time you saw anyone respond directly to the OP?

There’s an OP?

Sorry guys, would of actually kept it the same and not of done the Appearance change if people didn’t start flirting with me In-game…

Yeah that actually happened a fair bit… Got to the point where it became uncomfortable… :joy:

Definitely would of updated it by now if I could.

How do you guys want the next one to go?

Who would you like to write it?

If we’d like to collaborate would those of you who aren’t in the Discord consider joining just till it’s completed?

High Elves are already on the Alliance. They wouldn’t be added to it; they never left it.

What do they usurp exactly? Please, do tell which themes, what lore, what flavor they steal from Blood Elves.

  • Blood Elves are isolationists within their faction. Their ties to the Horde are so weak and their opposition to the Alliance so minimal, they almost switched sides. Meanwhile, High Elves are cosmopolitan, living among and working alongside other Alliance races wherever they are.
  • Blood Elves are deeply tied to Quel’thalas - the destruction is where they got their name from. Most currently living High Elves chose the Alliance over Quel’thalas long ago.
  • Blood Elves had the whole journey of going down a dark path but eventually getting better (thanks, Velen). High Elves have none of that.
  • Blood Elf mages mostly specialize in fire. High Elf mages mostly specialize in frost and arcane Blood Elfs have Blood Knights. High Elfs have traditional religious paladins.
  • Magisters are perhaps the most powerful and iconic of Quel’thalas’ factions. One of the three major groups of High Elves in-game has completely abandoned arcane magic.
  • Blood Elves were all tainted by Fel, and some have now been purified and infused with the Light. High Elves have none of that.

And before you claim how important it is for the Blood Elves to be the “sole successors of the High Elven race”, that’s bs and you know it. High Elves never went extinct. You can’t claim something that’s not true is core to a race.

Blood Elves and High Elves have been walking different paths for two decades now. We have an Allied Race that was Blood Elves until 2 minutes into their introduction scenario, and the only difference they had until then is that they used Shadow.

Question: Do Blood Elves even keep lodges anymore?

guess ill do one more post before i go to bed

tbf, lydon and myself have never said high elves dont exist on the alliance. ik thats one of your main arguments for giving them AR status, but its also the weakest one if thats your main argument

the fact is they are an identity less relic of blood elves and your bullet points are just platitudes and opinions

blood elves have mages in all schools of magic, including void before its expulsion due to risk of corrupting the sunwell. and im sure the high elves have mages in many schools of magic as well

the silver covenant elves have only been seperated by 16 years. tbf some people say 24 years. i know a couple people here who will say 3000+ years
in that time theyve established nothing that would distinct them from blood elves

quel’thalas is definitely more invested in the horde then they ever were with their old alliance of lordaeron. liadrin and lorthemar are everywhere!

it was liadrin who recruited the nightbourne for the horde and is leading the charge in warfronts and assaults for cyin out loud

meanwhile i think vereesa is still in northrend dalaran standing around

theyre just not out there like the other races

the blood elves and quel’thalas are the future. they are a core race and part of the faction identity of the horde

who cares? we have a country

im sure we have some lodges away from the main cities to vacation to

Lodge definition : A lodge is a house or hut in the country or in the mountains where people stay on holiday

Bonafide hater… Nobody cares that you don’t like High Elves, and all of Lavinya’s points are FACTS!

Now go back to Orgrimmar like the savage you are and enjoy being out of place on your faction. Hell, even Nightborne are showing up more than Blood Elves, lol.

Because bumping a thread means something?

Someday I hope the tin foil hat theories will be exposed for what they are…just people who can’t understand that the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
It makes absolutely no sense for a company that makes a game with 2 factions to favor one over the other.

It’s almost like people don’t understand the difference between bias and favoritism.

Bumping the thread keeps the discussion going, rather than letting it die like many people seem to complain about.

“Why isn’t this thread dead?” Or “This thread still isn’t dead?” etc.

If you truly want the thread to die, you aren’t doing yourself any favours, because you are keeping it alive by making a post. Hence people will see and potentially reply back.

So yea Starla, it does mean something.

To the devs that read these, yes.

Yes, our opposition is clear for them to see. Just because it ends up bringing to the topic to the top doesn’t mean anything necessarily positive for your ‘fight’.

It means it’s more visible and there is more discussion and ideas because of that.

And you’re the only one(s) treating this as some kind of fight.

Do you know that I’m a Horde main, don’t you? I don’t need to “think the Horde side is greener”, I’m seeing it.

I’ve been playing Horde since Warlords of Draenor, when my former realm kinda died after the introduction of the fixed size for Mythic (Heroic in MOP) Raids to 20-man.

I was only able to play as Alliance between 2010-2015, and I’ve been playing as Horde since 2016.

There’s nothing appealing in Alliance side today, people that are still there are sacrificing about 25% of what WoW gameplay can offer just to be an Alliance player.

I know that many people are still on this Faction War kinda of thing, and are against anything cool that Alliance may possible get, because you know…

But Alliance is dying as we speak, and many players instead of becoming Horde are just stop playing altogether, and this is game is already in really bad state, I don’t think WoW can keep going at this pace for much longer.

So, instead of mocking Alliance players, Blizzard should’ve been trying to improve the Alliance situation, before it’s demise. If Blizzard do nothing, Alliance’s demise will be just another step for WoW’s downfall. Blizzard forgets that are many other companies out there who are doing their best to welcome former WoW players, and I’m not only speaking about other MMO’s here.

They’re not wrong. I have max level characters on both sides and the horde content is much more enjoyable. Do both Kultiran/Zandalari unlock quests and then get back to me. The alliance one has you flying all over the map, and even though it’s cute and funny, it’s not as epic and fun as the Zandalari one (which doesn’t require you to take a damn flight path everywhere).
