The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I thought so at first too, but they have grown on me quite a bit.

It depends on the server. I got some hate for being a Blood Elf back on my first server, but we definitely put WRA on the map.

How

Do you find Umbric that sexy, or do you encounter the Void Elf IE trio non-stop on the Blood Elf you main?

They’re fine. It’s cool that Alleria got her own group and good that they recruited from Blood Elves.

But Vereesa is still worth being a faction leader. Auric Sunchaser is still kicking around too.

Also if they’re not going to give us playable Quel’dorei it’d be nice if they stopped dropping Quel’dorei skins into Heroes of the Storm too.

Look at these stats. Blood Elves are as much the face of the Horde as Humans are the face of the Alliance.

To be honest, I think the Void Elves provide something the Alliance has sorely been missing. I’d argue they provide something the GAME has been missing. Umbric has been growing on me and I see a lot of Kael’thas in him, so really, the Void Elves are more like the OG Blood Elves than the Blood Elves are.

They bring a reasonable level of grey to the Alliance’s stark white morality. They do horrible things for good reasons, but they’re still horrible things.

I’d like to see the Void Elves continue to grow and develop, but I would like to see High Elves added as a playable race and provide a foundation to help Void Elves grow and develop as well.

Aesthetically they could stand to add a few different options to Void Elves so everyone isn’t rocking the same hair/colors to create some Diversity among players, fair tones or not. Make some look more traditional, make some more mutant esque, such as a third eye, more tentacles, etc.

Lorewise they should add/elaborate on the transformation process for any new Void Elves that come after Umbrics group. Make this new content for, tie it into new customization options.

Neither. I just find the void theme to be something new and refreshing, especially for the Alliance.

Blood Elves should not be the face of the Horde. This is just an argument for High Elves, whether or not you realize it.

It’s Orcs vs Humans, remember? High Elves would reduce the overall Blood Elf population in the Horde, thus allowing non-Alliance derived Horde races to shine once again.

I can agree with this.

I really love Void Elves actually.

Salathiel wouldn’t change to a Quel’dorei if they were added. He’s a Void Elf through and through.

I was just picking on Shadows for grasping at straws for void elves and against high elves.

I think that Quel’dorei are pretty important to balance out Void Elves. Also I’m just Nyshant’s main.

I just use him because he’s a way less sympathetic character. It’s easy to write as an oblivious arrogant jerk with that avatar.

Gonna level him more when I’m not suffering from so much WoW burnout… and not getting crushed by school.

Blood Elves being the most played Horde race never appeared to have any effect on their treatment in-game. They remain misfits within the Horde, and likely will never, ever be their “face”. Unless the plot calls for Lor’Themar to become Warchief under the evil influence of the Light or something like that.

I understand completely. Vex and most of my characters would become High Elves, depending upon class selection, of course, but I might end up with one Void Elf. The issue is as a RP’er I’m very much so a stick-to-one-character kind of person, so most of my alts would be for gameplay reasons. Still, I have an easier time imagining a Void Elf as an, ‘appears as needed,’ character rather than one that would be present for average every-day stuff.

Sin’dorei have NOTHING to do with the Horde faction identity.

Want proof?

Go to my Garrison.

What. Sin’dorei. Would. Live. In. That. Hovel.

I’m glad they offered me some Sin’Dorei guards so we could all be MISERABLE together.

I like subtlety rogues so my rogue is staying Void Elf.
I like the idea that my Monk Brewmaster just sucks at being chill and so the Sha made him a shadow monk… so he’ll stay that way too.

And Sal is a discipline priest… I think discipline priests are some of your idea Void Elves if you’re trying to RP because theoretically maybe they’re not totally crazy.

I’ve tried to RP a Void Elf. It wasn’t bad. I just went full Vulcan. “I have mastered my emotions, and this enables me to Master the Whispers and the Void. I rely on logic now to guide my every action and decision.” It was a surprisingly popular character in the guild I was in. Other Void Elves had just been kind of… edgy.

I agree the Void Elves are like the old school Blood Elves, while team red has developed into something new. Compared to Blood and Void Elves though, High Elves just seem bland. Void Elves are the new kids on the block with all the cool toys. High Elves are just Blood Elves lite and don’t bring anything new to the table.

Some people like bland, and that should be respected. A lot of people think it’s weird to play a human in a game where you can be so many different things, or something like a human.

That said, High Elves have a potential which could be explored to make them nature-oriented, and this would certainly balance out the Thalassian race quite nicely. Blood Elves being predominantly about the Light, and also magic. Void Elves being predominantly about the Void, and also magic. High Elves being predominantly about Nature/Elements, and also magic.

I view my VE Rogue like Psylocke from the X-men.
