The models are the reason, models take a lot of effort and work to do, especially animations. People complain about allied races being recolors but i’m fine with that, i think that the “recolor allied races” are distinguishable from their core races just fine, High Elves are no different even considering that the eye color are the only difference that they have in the in-game model from the Blood Elves.
If people argue that they are similar to Blood Elves anyway, this is where other modifications should come if they plan to make them playable, Blizzard have a amazing art team, they could do a amazing job, just take Alleria model as a example, different hair styles and tattoos can do wonders.
High Elves have been requested for the Alliance since Vanilla. If the request hasn’t died in almost 15 years, I don’t see it dying anytime soon. These threads will die once High Elves are added as an Allied Race, or WoW shuts down with never having added them.
Even then I wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t fan-sites for decades/centuries going on about how WoW wasted the opportunity to make High Elves playable. Heck, as a topic it might even go in history books for game design or marketing. I remember all kinds of examples in those books back in College.
I’ve expressed the opinion before, and I remain convinced High Elves were intended until a very last minute decision was reached to make Void Elves instead. Someone at Blizzard failed to predict the Alliance playerbase’ reaction to Void Elves over High Elves.
I completely believe they felt convinced that Void Elves would’ve been superior in the eyes of the players.
Oh well. Just means they have something to add to the Alliance, hopefully early into the next expansion.
This isn’t news. Star’s modus operandi has always been to laugh with tears and cast likes on anti-high elf trolls and then to turn around and concern troll pro-high elf trolls.
I know some people have been trolling this topic for a long time but it is never ok to stoop to their level. EVER.
And adding nothing to the conversation except the occasional personal quarrel and antagonizing off topic response doesn’t exactly shine your “group” in the best light either.
If you want to participate in a conversation I suggest you actually do so.
You people need to face the facts. At some point playable high elves for the alliance will happen. From all appearances it is just ion keeping them from happening. lower tier devs have come out in support. story directors have come out in support.
The anti thread (best way i could say it) was unnactive for 6 days, it was so good to see that crap of a thread slowly dying because of how pointless their crusade is, a wasted opportunity.
Unfortunately someone revived it and the level of discussion there is worse than it ever was, Horde mains posting on Alliance alts, that guy spamming about blue eyes for blood elves on his alt (funny cause he made a thread about leaving days ago) and more circular discussions and outdated arguments.
They cannot bump that thread without us tho…
