Fielding the questions in the Q&A just means they’d have a monthly community revolt. Their safest option would be to say, “No news.”
That doesn’t mean that what you’re saying is impossible. But I don’t think it’s likely currently.
One issue is just a matter of resources. They’re working on Goblin/Worgen remodels, two allied races still haven’t been released yet. (Though they did promise more at Blizzcon, didn’t they?)
Presuming they thought Void Elves might be some kind of compromise on High Elves it would mean resources to do this and planning would be pretty far off.

I wouldn’t hope for them to be added during, Battle for Azeroth’s, lifetime. Despite High Elves having one of the longest-running and well written conflicts with the Horde, there seems to be concern about the High Elves too closely resembling Blood Elves would ruin the experience of a faction conflict expansion, as the developers seem to desire more distinction between the factions during such an expansion.
It’s a shame, but what can you do?
I’ll be waiting to see how BFA ends as well. With so much speculation about the factions being removed or different races going neutral so the Horde and Alliance technically owns a continent each, etc… If Blood Elves ended up being playable in the Alliance, I imagine the Developers would be even less inclined to add High Elves than they already are.
I don’t see a third faction or complete ownership of continents happening…
Third faction splits the playerbase too much and creates tons more work every expansion. Which would mean less content for Alliance or Horde…
Making each continent belong to one faction or the other reduces the chance for World PvP which has always been a goal.

I wouldn’t expect a Third Faction either. At this point either the Factions are dropped entirely, or they are maintained, but BFA does seem to have had the direction of one continent per faction, and ending the faction conflict by each faction basically glaring at one another from across the ocean, entering a Cold War state.
How? World PvP would happen in high-end zones. Only Ganking happens on the main continents these days.
What Fliktarg is saying is that there is always going to be a high amount of players who want to be EdgeLords.
You like Kingdom Hearts but think villains are awesome?
Blood Elves are your faction.

Yeah… World PVP…
Ganking is World PvP. As much as I loved duking it out with fairly similar forces in Hillsbrad during Vanilla the people who are after a competitive battle just que for battlegrounds now.
So what experience does that leave? Jumping a dude when he gets off of his flight or why he’s battling ten people.
But there has been a market for that since the beginning of MMO’s…
Keep in mind as well that they are instancing zones now, so they can basically revisit Azeroth’s zones and then you just have to speak to Chrom….bronzedragonlady… to go back.
Now that is in place they can essentially re-use old WoW zones and make them end game areas.
I am not sure if the night elves will ever give up on Darkshore and Hyjal. Whereas humans will never give up their claim to Lordaeron.

No. by the definition of pvp it isn’t pvp. Player versus player. versus meaning against each other. Ganking is a 1 sided affair. One side is not agaist the other because they dont have the chance to take action against them

You seem to be conflating the word “versus” into some kind of sportsmanship.
Player Versus Player.
Player Against Player.
Any action you take in opposition to another player is player versus player.
This is a strange semantical argument.

The way I see it versus is against each other. Not just against. Both sides have to be against in a versus.
You know, I wouldn’t mind seeing a racial for High Elves that would help… incentive players to be more diverse in their race selections.
Loyalty: Increase damage and healing and reduce damage taken by 1% for each unique race the player is partied with. Allies in the party gain 50% of this benefit.
If you’re in a group of just High Elves? +1% for the player, 0.5% for everyone else.
If you’re in a group with 4 High Elves and something else? +2%, +1%.
If you’re in a group where everyone is a difference race? +5%, +2.5%.
It’d be a kind of interesting incentive for raiding guilds as well. A party-wide buff, but with conditions to meet. Sort of underlines the dependency the High Elves have on the Alliance, while also highlighting the strength of the Alliance’s unity at the same time.

I imagined an active racial for High Elves being something like this:
Meditation - Through rigorous meditation techniques, you maintain your focus and take x% less damage for y number of seconds. You also recover x amount of y resource each second.
Basically I wanted to play off their techniques to fight off their addiction and also to sort of mirror Arcane Torrent, but instead of dispelling (consuming) buffs and recovering a resource in one burst. It’s a personal resilience buff that recovers a resource over time. I was thinking of it like “patience is rewarded” vs “instant gratification”.

Pretty sure that link i posted that i found over on wowpedia had decent racials that worked nicely for High Elves (also had good San’layn ones too).

Yeah. But having high ideals doesn’t change a definition.
My first PvP experience was terrible. Ultima Online, I was super young, a bunch of higher level dudes were camping out in a cave you needed to level.
Basically locked me out of the game. Not fun, but PvP even if it’s wretched.
That’s what world PvP is about. Who has more people?
I hit Dazar’Alor with a bunch of people the other day to get the kills for the weekly quest. It was a slaughter, we just wrecked the whole town.
Before that during an assault a week ago or something, a horde raid camped out at one of the towns in Stormsong Valley. Killed everybody who landed there and basically corpse camped them.
Ideally a counter raid would have been formed to deal with both situations. But it didn’t happen. World PvP sucks. People want to win. The team with more people present wins.
You had more standing battles back in Vanilla at Hillsbrad Foothills, but you had just as many routs.
Blizzard has done what they can. Run assaults. Put the assault quests right next to each other and hope it organically creates engaging World PvP. But at the end of the day the people who don’t have enough people just drop warmode.
It’s on us to make World PvP fun and that kind of necessitates the need for some gracious losers and we just don’t have those on the game.
Anyways. That’s enough off topic.

Well we now know that Kul Tirans took almost as long to make as a core race, and much longer than all of the rest of the Allied Races put together (as Ion mentioned).
If you reverse that logic, it tells you it really didn’t take them that long to make each of the other Allied Races. And as such, High Elves could be added without too much effort.

I am not talking about by ideals. I am talking about the exact unchangeable definition of the phrase pvp. words have meaning. Just because something has become the norm in a pvp mode of a game does not change the meaning of the phrase pvp.
Yeah. I covered that in the first sentence though.
Despite the idealism of what “PvP” should mean, it’s player versus player even if you’re away from keyboard.
You could be making a sandwich in another room and if someone is killing your character it still qualifies.
There is another term, “Player Killing” but that one really only applies when you are acting against the rules. If someone attacks their teammates (When they are allowed too) that’s player killing.
But if you go to a battleground and afk and someone from the other team finds you and kills you it’s still pvp.

by the exact definition of the phrase it isn’t. Words have meanings. dont construe them to fit your purposes.
This is an off topic discussion, so I’m not going to continue it here…
But once again… You’re conflating what PvP means with what you’d like it to mean.
If we’re looking at the definition of the word, versus doesn’t mean what you want it to mean. It does not connotate sportsmanship.
If we’re looking at the definition of the term…
Then Content is either PvP or PvE.
Engaging, unfairly, against other players is still PvP.
In both the literal definition and in the mentality behind the term you’re incorrect.
The term is specifying who is the target. PvE (Player versus Environment) or PvP (Player versus another Player.)

I will stop this conversation as I agree this isn’t the place for it but on that note I will end that no it isn’t pvp and that blizzard needs to find a way for the current way of doing things in war mode is actually punishing for those players. They shouldn’t be encouraged to camp neutral flight points or world quests.
If anything they should be punished in some way for camping neutral flight point at least because as it says that is the territory of a neutral faction not part of the war. Why is the war being fought on their land?
But anyways back on topic.
