The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I want my queldorei with half-elf customization :hugs:

I was really happy to see more void elves being used and that weā€™ll see more as the expansion continues! Much more relevant and interesting!

Yes! Both of these would be so much fun to play.

Well, I just finished the campaign and, if you are talking about the Nazmir attack, that ā€œarmyā€ is just a small force, and the void elves are less than half of the dark iron/void elf division.

I do get the impression of lots of void elves in the faction assaults, but in the campaign itself they always appear as small groups.

Maybe there should be a quest that allows Void elves to get rid of their void magic and allow them to be once again turn into high elves ?

what I like to believe is that these are the same void elves over and over. Umbric is always there so it isnā€™t unreasonable his followers are not going around to all the assaults and campaign missions as well.

Also all of those void elves in the last campaign mission are now dead.

doesnā€™t that defeat the purpose of what they are? There is not reason to try and combine high elves and void elves. All it will do is piss off the people that already like void elves for what they are. The people that want high elves will not be happy even if they change void elves. We want high elves not some half baked measure.

Good point xD

While the campaign says thatā€™s a suicide mission, and itā€™s no doubt most of those soldiers are going to die, you can bet on some of them escaping by running to the swamps, hiding or, in the case of void elves, opening portals, onde the purpose of the mission is achieved (stall the Horde).

It would be another of their compromises. Problem with doing something like splitting the difference is it runs the risk of making no one happy while pissing people off just as much.

Void Elves are a great case in point. The people who would screech about High Elves being added are screeching for all they are worth right now. With the added point that Void Elves come out of nowhere.

The people who wanted High Elves are disappointed with the half measure that is void Elves, and are still plugging along asking for them. On top of plenty of them arenā€™t happy about Void Elves.

They didnā€™t fix anything and just agitated both sides. I know they wanted to get Alleria in the story more, which is great I loved her since WC 2 as a wee lad, but yea. Here we are.

The devs are pulling Void Elves out of nowhere to represent them in BfA, itā€™s not accurate to lore, but itā€™s quite expected that they would try to push and show their new products and such.

Yes, the void is dangerous, but Umbric always preaches about using caution when handling it. In the war campaign, he talks about how it can be used for good and how the Horde would use it irresponsibly if they ever gained mastery of it. After summoning the void dinosaur he discusses how it isnā€™t particularly efficient but used for shock value. He also dismissed the ritual binding the void to the dinosaur, stating that it needed to be done before the entity became too powerful and one should always exercise caution when utilizing forces of this nature. Right now it seems the void elves are on top of their game.

Of course, the the void elves are just based on the use an incredibly destructive force for good trope. That limits them to doing no or little harm through the use of the void similar to demon hunters and death knights.

TBH Iā€™ve found interesting that the Lighforged gossip text overall makes them seem more dangerous than Void Elves and I do believe we are seeing an interesting role reversal in terms of Void/Light with these two. VEā€™s are shown as very mindful and aware of the danger of the powers they wield, while lightforged seem quite zealous to the point is a wee bit uncomfortable.

So IDK, I feel the LF are far more likely to do something questionable with their powers than the VE, who I think will actually further cement their loyalty in 8.2.

Wyrmbane makes it very clear that not a single one survived in the aftermath of the quest.

I just came to say this. I completed the raid on alliance and wrymbane confirms all soldiers in nazmir were killed.

Iā€™m feeling really bad for that. First, I wasnā€™t able to talk Grong out of the stupid idea of letting himself being turned into a mindless weapon. And now, once more I had to sit idly while an entire regiment is sent to their certain doom. So much for feeling heroic as a player.

I find it a little contrived, but if itā€™s canon itā€™s canon.

I was already morning Telaamon. He was my favorite lightforged draenei in Argus, it was a surprise to see him die so soon.

This gets really sad if you imagine all the Night Elves there likely lost their families and the Void Elves there just canā€™t take the whispers anymore.

Nice touches. I can see all those night elves wishing for vengeance. Same with those worgen.

That regiment deserves a name. So that we can add it to our battlecries.
