Maybe, but I would love to see as many elf races in game as are possible.
Only two more are really needed I think. High Elves, and Sanālayn. By simply adding customization to other races we would be well enough off.
If we were shackled to the idea of only one new AR per core race, then Wildhammer Dwarves could never be a thing. And that is something I just will not accept.
Iām all for Half Elf Options for High Elves. But as an Allied Race I mean not so much.
I think best way to do Playable High Elves is to Rebuild the High Elf Society with Veressa getting some development other than just staying there or just not taking any true leadership. Right now with the Silver Covenant Theyāre trying to recover their wounds from legion as well as Dalaran itself. Instead of just randomly dying or just get wiped out why not have Vereesa gather all the remaining surviving High Elves and become as one single Nation/Banner.
Its been retconned in Chronicles 1, where it states the runestones were made by DathāRemar Sunstriderās arcanists.
Does that also mean that High Elven Druids were also retconned too?
Possibly most likely. Since:
- The main contribution of them was given to mages in both the Encyclopedia and Chronicles
- The existence of the Caer Darrow stone was in WC2, and night elves were then introduced into existence in WC3 as a druidic elf race.
- The only time we have seen anything close to high elves being druids were the Botanica dungeonā¦but the quests show that was more of arcane magic than anything remotely druidic.
- The role of high elves being druids hasnt been addressed in any sort of lore after WC2
Many see half elves as a solution. I for one want the race to be called high elves, for them to have customization typical of high elves within the alliance, but also have half elf options as half elves are a thing and it is not unreasonable to believe that realistically many āhalf elvesā in the alliance just see themselves as high elves. The reason being is they are not truly half human half elf. They are like 7/8ths elf. That is the way I see it at least. Therefore to cover any future demand for half elves just go ahead and include them under high elves. All the known half elves in the lore already essentially align themselves with high elven society.
Aslong as I have choice to be a pure blood Quelādorei, Iām all good! And it says Iām a High Elf.
Maybe Arator could get a chance to be more of a character, even a racial leader of sorts.
I feel like half elves are just a half measure to giving us true high elves, similar to void elves. I feel that they would be better served adding high elf customization to void elves than half elves. I think the most preferable thing would be to get a high elf race on its own.
Just passing by to show my support to the idea of playable High Elves. The main reason for me to do so, is the ridiculous amount of salt from the āanti high elfā faction in the forums. Also, they keep saying the nonsense about how Void Elves were a valid compromise.
Greetings from the foxes, Vanillelves. Keep on elfinā!
Greetings from the Vanilla Elves, you gorgeous Foxies. Looking forward to seeing you guys playable in game at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
and hopefully with the sneks and not the robo-gnomes.
As someone who has both races in his top picks, I feel like Iām greeting myself
I think everyone on the pro side would agree that having High Elves would be the preferred best case scenario. I hardly think thatās up for much debate.
But I do think that Half Elves -that continue the legacy of the High Elves on the alliance- would be a far better compromise than Void Elves are, or even could become at this point.
I say this because adding HE customization to VEās would give us the aesthetic, but undoubtedly subservient to the Void Elf narrative. Thatās inescapable.
While Half Elves could be the future of High Elves and their narrative, their legacy, their next stage as a group. Like yes, Blizzard could waste another opportunity by making Half Elves a new organization/group with none of the HE background except the biology, which would be like the same mistake they did with Void Elves by not making them HEās on the first place.
But as it is, Half Elves have more potential than Void Elves just by nature of being a tabula rasa, and lacking the Void aspect that is just so extraneous to High Elves culturally. And thatās the thing, Half Elves have the potential of being far closer to High Elven fantasy through their possible history and culture and alliances than VE can ever be at this point.
But I say it again, the whole āVEās or Half Elves?ā conundrum is predicated on the supposition High Elves are off the table, cause again I think that if people on the pro side had a real say, weād all go for just regular High Elves. This whole throught excercise is about āOkay if e canāt have HEās then whatās the second best scenarioā And mind you, while I personally think Half Elves are such a scenario, I wouldnāt dislike if we got High Elves joining the Void Elves and bringing new skin and hair options.
I think Blizz will milk this for all itās worth. Playable High Elves, Half Elves, and Sanālayn will probably all exist at some point.
Maybe, since weāre the only ones looking forward into the future, I guess.
I only hope they come before the game is dead =/
Weāre living dark days, the expansion just begun and it feels like weāre already over. I mean so many people leaving, and complaining on twitter, wowhead, mmochampion, reddit, tradechat, forums and even the content creators who are sponsored by blizzard is talking about how the game are not in good shapeā¦
Itās really sad, the guild Iām playing lost more than half of their players I meet during Legion, just an year and half ago. Everytime I check my battletag friends thereās less and less players online.
Sorry for thowing this kind of reply here guys. But iām really concerned about the situation. I mean whatās going to happen? Blizz will try to fix the game, or theyāll leave ship to itās fate?
Itās really concerningā¦
I tried to explain on another thread that the High Elf problem had little to do with the models, and that Void Elves canāt de a valid compressor because they used to be Blood Elves instead of our original Elves, but I got ganked by a mob of High Elf haters.
As I see it, High Elves are a matter of loyalty to their friends and to the bonds that tie the Alliance together. Someone argued that their allegiance had always been a fair weather one since W2, and perhaps thatās the case. What they fail to realize though, is that the elves weāre asking for are precisely the ones who choose not to leave our side. The flighty ones have already gone to the Horse, and we never asked for them to come back.
The very notion that the pro High Elf people are trying to steal a race from the Horde is ridiculous.
Sorry for the rant.
