Blizzard has factually differentiated the High Elves from their Sin’dorei cousins for the entire life of WoW. They have a unique and untapped look in the tattooed ranger aesthetic. They have a unique culture of survival separate from the Blood Elves, which itself doesn’t actually evoke or reference human culture despite the claim here otherwise. The simple task of giving the model a unique idle rig akin to the Nightborne change would effectively give the model more differences than the Void Elves currently have.
Aye. They can either have their own town in the eastern kingdoms somewhere or an elven district can be made for stormwind.
Either way The centerpoint should be the headquarters for the silver covenant consisting of a proper military base with sleeping quarters, training yards, and such. Personally I would place it around a central courtyard with a statue of vereesa in the middle.
I would be open to seeing the space above the Mage District re-purposed for a High Elven district to be honest. That said, I don’t think I’d support a statue of Vereesa, but as an interesting twist, I’d be fine if the Night Elves/Highborne established a Moonwell with a High Elven design to it as a symbol of the two races having found mutual understanding and respect for one another.
It’d also be nice for Night Elven refugees to have a spot in Stormwind they could gather in and have a more sympathetic/empathetic population to support them. The High Elves know all too well what it is like to lose one’s home and most of their race.
In wowhead it says Azsuna (Court of Farondis Emissary), i think it changes to the most recent Legion Emissary, to make the Legion allied race repping easier.
I thought the portal held by the SC Mages/Argent Mages is the one to Legion Dalaran? I am assuming the only Northrend Portal we have is the WrA one at Legion Dalaran itself?
Anyone on PTR can check out?
That is interesting and also confusing. Nightborne Portal Mages in Stormwind? Or Highmountain ones? Hrmn…
OH that would be super neat if true!!
The HM one would feel the weirdest, IDK, you could have Drogbar holding it? But for Suramar I guess you just would have Moonguard Mages holding the one to Meredil
and I agree. Dalaran was never stated to officially leave the alliance So I don’t think they actually ever did. Even in cata they aided alliance forces in gilneas and hillsbrad against the forsaken.
The reason why they have been shown as neutral is because the alliance offers more freedom to its’ member states than the horde does. All alliance member nations are independent and can make their own laws. Dalaran chose to let the horde into it on certain occasions but can expel them at any time.
Also it is interesting if indeed prince farondis and his people lean more towards the alliance. Perhaps we could reverse the curse during 8.2 wink. Have them included into the few surviving highborne that joined the night elves in cata?
So it seems unlike what some were speculating, Blizzard continues to show the High Elves and Silver Covenant among the Alliance - nice.
Although part of me cautions to get further excited since Arathi in PTR had a High Elf mage boss who later turned to Human.
Hopefully these NPCs stay once the build goes Live.
The boss was actually supposed to be a Blood Elf the Alliance fought, and was changed to that.
Or maybe the NPCs are the same but the portals change according to the emissary, so those Nightborne and Ghost Highborne could remain.
Ah, that makes more sense
That would make more sense to be honest. Nightborne and the Court of Farondis were really the only cultures in the Broken Isles with a strong Mage population/thematic. I suppose the Vykrul could’ve had one, but really, they’re more about warriors and hunters and the likes.
Personally I really like the idea of reversing the curse on the azsuna highborne and bring them into the alliance. It would even out the broken isles between the factions as currently the horde outnumber the alliance 2 to 1 with the zones they control.
I don’t really think it’s teasing, I think we just have supporters inside of the company who are in charge of artwork / aesthetics that disagree with the lead developer’s stance on High Elves.
They are on our side, he is not. I’m sure they want to lightly support us as much as possible without clashing with the lore writing team and what not.
IMO I’m not the kind of person to see a new HE NPC and go “HE AR CONFIRMED!!!” I just like to see new HE NPC’s because it shows that they are still a thing
As far as a story element it would certainly be interesting. I’m not sure it could add more to Night Elves than a larger mage population though. That said, the Night Elves could benefit from any kind of gain right now, especially one in population, and a population that can build the Night Elves a new city pretty fast at that.
I did not understand your post. I just linked the most lorewise prominent class to each listed faction.
It was Azshara that cursed them, so if we beat her on the next patch could the curse be disappear?
Indeed, reading that response as a “what” moment lol.
TBH I’d love if the Night Elves somewhat settled on Aszuna or Val’sharah -civilian wise at least- while they solidify their presence on Darkshore. It would be so great to see the NE reunite with those two groups.
