The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I would say it does step on blood elf toes and leaves everyone a little bit disappointed. Blood elves did lose their unique models and it was a slap in the face to high elf fans who wanted to play an alliance race that has been represented in game by Alliance NPCs since 2004. I mean, if high elves were implemented, there would be the occasional high elf to RP mastering the void like Aleria but most would see the void elves as a race kind of silly. Blizzard should just do the right thing and give players high elves in some form so they can at least set foot in Stormwind while RPing.

The fact that the lead devs main horde, Alex said Sylvanas is their favorite so they can’t kill her off yet, they work on horde content first… the list goes on and on.

I have to admit I do feel similarly.

If we had received High Elves, Void Elf customization could’ve been added to them easily enough, similar to Night Elves and the Night Warrior customization. All you’d have to do is make that customization option unavailable to High Elf Paladins.

It’s a pity they didn’t go that route, but we might get High Elves down the line with interesting themes and stories to deviate them away from Blood Elves. Druids and Shamans seem to be the more popular ideas.

So it’s just assumption.

It’s a game that has to appeal to everyone. I could as a Horde player say I feel they favor Alliance in areas I feel cheated. It’s opinion and assumption. Not fact.

This is stupid

Most amusing part about this thought is how, with the Void Elves Blizzard provided, anybody can go log into an RP server and see the exact opposite: The vast majority of Void Elf RP profiles are labeled “Quel’dorei,” as the players do their best to forget they’re running around on a character whose race was created explicitly to insult and troll everything they love about Warcraft.

I doubt Void Elves were created with any intention of insulting or trolling anyone. I whole-heartedly believe the Developers who pushed for Void Elves instead of High Elves believed that they would be welcomed by players as something new and unique, and that those who wanted High Elves would consider Void Elves to be better than what they’d been asking for.

Now if only there was a single decent male hairstyle that didn’t look like it came from a boy-band, preferably a long one without tentacles, and I’d be pretty happy personally. Until then, running that Stromgarde Warfront and praying for the Hood drop.

So all the main devs maining horde is an opinion now? Alrighty then lol

No. The opinion is thinking they side with everything Horde in the game because you feel and others that they only main Horde. They have to create a game that’s for everyone. It does things for the company, like give them a pay cheque.

If only it felt like that  This expansion hasn’t been to great so far

I can agree with that. It’s not fun for either side unfortunately. :frowning:

Just comparing Boralus and Dazar’alor, you can see that Dazar’alor make use of almost all the area, there’s a crafting quarter, a proper bank area, throne room, tortollan and etheral area and an warfront area. Everything are spread around the city making it feel more cohesive and organic city.

Meanwhile, Boralus have everything packed in one corner, without a proper area, and most npc’s dont even had a room. The Castle “throne room” are inacessible, we cant see Jaina and Katherine unless when we’ve some quest line who make them appear outside.

This is just one example, there’s the whole Racial imbalance as well, the questing results across the world.

Although I bet you’ll probably ignore all this.

Anyway, I’m not going to play semantics here, I’m just giving more insights.

Really, I think we already are seeing blood elves separate themselves from high elves with the new gold eye options. Maybe we could see a destruction of Quel’thalas or Exile from Silvermoon as the last vestiges of High elven culture are stripped away.

Yeah, you’re right on we should try not assume the worst when evaluate other’s intention, but my biggest question is in fact why Umbric? I mean if they want to do new and unique, just pour VE from Silver covenant and boom problem solved and everyone happy.

I hope it is just a accidental missing target, or otherwise the unthinkable reason would make me teeth chattering.

I wouldnt say Dazar’alor is great. Besides its grandeur environment…its kind of sucky.

Not everything is together, so going from the portals to check my mission tables is one of the most tedious things that gets on your nerves after a while. Its worse without flying. I jump to my near death more times than I count, to where I want to start cornering the marker on goblin gliders.

I find Boralus much better in terms of its convenience to Alliance players, though the color scheme can be…dull. But hey…atleast everything that Alliance needs is in a rested XP zone.

The environment of Dazar’alor is great, but I have to agree its layout is atrocious.

The Gonk/Pa’ku boon you choose while questing helps, but it’s not enough.

At the very least, Occuleth should open some portals between Great Seal and the port, and between Great Seal and the crafting area.

why not half elves?

I don’t see much of a reason for Quel’Thalas or Silvermoon to be touched for High Elf development. High Elves don’t have much reason to have anything to do with either, and the Blood Elves are the rightful people of Quel’Thalas. Right now, we have independent lodges as well as Dalaran as places where we see a lot of High Elves, and that seems like a good place for them.

I can only speculate, but on some level I can only imagine that someone at Blizzard seriously thought players asking for High Elves wanted, “Blue-Eyed Blood Elves,” since that is exactly what we got.

I think the reality is, Blizzard has plans for the High Elves, and will add them later in one form or another. It seems strange not to have had High Elves become Void Elves otherwise.

void elf holy priests don’t actually exist in canon. There is no finding the balance. They can’t remove a class spec for a certain race because of lore reasons.

quite simply this isn’t true for beings infused with the void. In reality being in contact with the light should at the very least cause great pain to void elves and at most outright kill them. They wouldn’t be able to harness it.

Just look at what happens to turalyon and alleria. They can’t touch. When they did in the 3 part audio mini series before 7.3 they both felt great pain before being repelled from each other. AT that point alleria was only being trained in the void and not actually infused with it.
