Just move the bars around till it looks similar to how it was…How is this so difficult?
I know how you feel being 55 and started playing online games during the dark ages of dial up.
Click the grids option and it even gives you little squares to line stuff up. Kinda like brownies in a pan.
a good ui is intuitive, easy to figure out, user friendly, and mallable. this ui is rigid, requires a learning curve to figure out right, and user unfriendly,. The fact you need several hours to figure out how to even set it up should be telling.
screw grids…SHeesh!
I will get used to it and make it work…maybe even come to like it but still…the old trusty UI was working fine
(with minimal mods)…so again, if it aint broke…y fix it!
the game won’t let me move ANY of the bars.
I can’t believe that Blizz went and made a UI that didn’t satisfy every single players needs. Honestly, would it have been so hard to have every single player tell them how they want the UI and then miraculously create one that made every single player happy? It’s a scandal honestly. This change feels so personal like they just didn’t want me having the UI settings I wanted. Looking to file a lawsuit.
Yep, been playing since day 50. it’s been a ride life took me in a different direction for a few years but now I like this pre patch. Is there gonna be bugs lol always. A little patience and perseverance and it turns out pretty good. instant gratification makes it boring fast. needing to work for a bit at something makes you learn it a bit better.
Meh, occasionally i still look top left for health other than that its not a super big deal for me
Now Im no game designer, but I have a theory on why this is. So the old UI was basically something that had been in the game since launch. There has been very little iteration to it. Now when they began to unravel the spaghetti code and make changes to the game menu and other options, they came to the conclusion that changing that part of the game, would make it not possible to revert. Or there was no way to make those changes to live and have both exist at the same time.
Now I get that you are frustrated at the changes. But hear me out. There is always going to be growing pains changing something that has largely been the same for 18 years. While I understand your desire to go back to what you are comfortable with, I would give it a little more than 30mins of trial and error.
I have been tinkering with it on a few of my specs, and coming up with layouts that work for how I play. I encounter a hiccup or 2, but I am figuring it out and actually enjoying the customization of it. Adjusting it how I want it. Having a couple different layouts for different classes or specs.
We have a few weeks with it, before the expansion launches. I was under no misconceptions that I would log in, right after the pre-patch and not have an almost overwhelming amount of things to tinker with before I could actually play. And with all the downtime and maintenance, I expected as such.
I am just saying, take your time with the process. Explore the UI and all the options. Figure out what you can do with it. Im pretty sure, at the end of the day, it will be a welcome and much needed change.
Choose the classic option and then from there you can start editing. Maybe that will make it easier.
i have it selected. still can’t move it.
30 minutes to address something that was working just fine the day before and even after tinkering will not be the same.
Yeh, thats annoying.
Some people have been using the basic ui for almost 2 decades. We liked it, it looked nice, it functioned fine. Log in, its all gone, whats left is sterile and bland and requires some effort to set up. Yeh, I dont want to tinker with menus, I want to play a game.
The bag icons need to be bigger as do the icons beneath them
I agree with that, they should’ve included the old design as an option instead of throwing it out, but it’s still easy enough to tinker and customize it the sameish way.
I am 44. Been playing almost daily since this game started. So, yes. Changing the UI the way they did was just stupid.
then again, I only got to play for a total of 5 minutes before they shut down for maintenance!
I was the same way at first but I braved the edit mode and now I have things to my liking thank god lol
Hey, I’m a boomer and I’ve played a lot of different computer games. First one I played was “Lunar Lander” on a DEC PDP-1 back in the early 1970s. Then there was “Colossal Cave Adventure”, a text based game that came along a little later.
It’s been many games since.
For sure, I got the functionality I need back, I think it was like 45 min of tinkering and loading on alts. But the screen, obviously, just doesnt look the same. The charm is gone. Like I get adding in the functionality they did. I DONT understand removing all the charm and personality of the old UI.
Your character name responds perfectly to the stupid UI change by the way. its priceless!
