Not only is the new UI confusing but it’s just frustrating to use. How is someone supposed to even begin to play the game when they can’t even wrap their mind around the most basic part of playing it; the UI? I’ve been sitting here for over an hour trying to customize this UI in a way that makes sense to me and I’ve got nothing but a headache and frustration. I tried to do a solo shuffle a not only could I not see cast bars but I couldn’t see who I was targeting. How exactly am I supposed to heal or interrupt when I can’t see targets or cast bars?
I know some people are loving this new UI and that’s great, I’m very happy for them, but the bare minimum should have been the ability to toggle the new UI on and off. This way EVERYONE can be happy and not just a select few. Now sure there will be an add-on that restores the old UI at some point but why should players have to wait weeks/months for a feature that should have been in AT LAUNCH? Plus there’s no guarantee the add-on will be able to restore the full old functionality and where I’m at at this point is quitting this game entirely if I can’t have the option to restore the old UI.
Im with you. Spent at least 30 minutes fighting with this stupid thing just to get something that doesn’t look like a complete mess. Like you said there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to set it back to our default settings.
when I log in, action bar 1 is taking up 1/5 of my lower screen and I can’t find a way to shrink it to fit the action buttons. You’d think that would be an option!
You’ve had like what 30 minutes to use it then you rage quit because you can’t figure it out?
yes there is a lot to it, i’ve spent tens of hours on beta playing with it, if you actually take a little time to learn it and get used to it, it’s far better than what we have now.
Are you going to suffer a little placement anxiety with your eyes constantly wanting to look certain places for things?
yes.
This is where the vast majority of user complaints are coming from?
yes.
Will you eventually adapt and get over it?
yes.
Did I feel the same overwhelmingness when I first played with it on beta?
Well there were numerous threads on the beta forum about the UI, particularly the action bar anchor points. I was really excited to use the new UI and ditch ElvUI but looks like I might just stick with ElvUI. Maybe I’ll try bartender or something for a lighter solution but there were lots of feedback given now they will see the frustration of the user base.
Not alone there. Spent nearly 1 1/2 hours, nothing but frustration here. I used default UI since 2009. This talent thing is annoying too, way too much.
Not only a fifth of the screen but everything is shifted all the way over to the left. It’s 2 rows tall even set at 1 row tall. It’s almost as wide as my screen with 12 icons width set. I don’t see any way to scale it or resize it. The old one was at least functional. I can’t play with this UI mess I see in front of me right now. The least they could have done was TRY to leave the elements close to where they were before.
I don’t see that button and action bar 1 changes size every time I log in. I’m sure there will be hours of maintenance tomorrow. Maybe I’ll wait it out and see how it looks later.
Respectfully, you misunderstand. The issue isn’t that I can’t figure out how to move it, it’s that instead of the UI box being roughly the size of the bar, like it is for 2, 3, and subsequent bars, the UI box was nearly as wide as my screen and three buttons tall.
It is no longer like that, but initially, it was, and it was further bugged when you changed any of the settings, causing the icons themselves to jump off-screen and the UI box to take up the entire length of the screen.
EDIT:: I realize now you were probably responding to the cast bar thing, and while yes, it’s simple to move, it shouldn’t be ‘hidden’ (as in, behind something) by default.
if you’re gonna sink this much time to learn some UI options, you may as well use Elvui which has 100x more potential with the same required time sink.
The new UI is supposed to be for people who don’t wanna tinker with options for hours; its supposed to be EASY from the START.
