Hate to break it to you but the Blizzard UI is practically a Bartender rip off. The only difference is Bartender4 (prior to DF) had a moveable bag bar and couldn’t do the minimap or unit frames.
The presets work fine, you can just play and not do anything at all to it. If you use the presets, you can just have it be a three click toggle between health bars top left and health bars center bottom. I used to play hyper customized with a 2.5gb addon folder. Shadowlands I played minimal addons, I even started to weed out some addons I considered core to the game. By 9.2.7 I had restored all UI and chat defaults and gotten rid of everything but TL;DR Missions, Leatrix Maps, and Rune Helper.
More differences than that. Blizz UI insists each bar must be 6 slots. I used a 4 bar line for bartender. Bartender offers 10 bars (so you can make mini ones for certain things), Blizzard has 8? Maybe even less. I don’t know why they designed their UI to be more limited than bartender. Just means I have to keep using bartender.
Fishing Buddy addon was causing that for me. Disabling it fixed the problem. It was a process to figure that out on my own lol.
Maybe I’m the minority, but I really love the new UI.
Pretty much the same as Bartender with also being able to move other stuff around too.
shrug
I feel the same all you get from content creators is WOW this is amazing and to me it is minimal. Features are really frustrating to use because they are so basic it doesn’t give you a usable way to setup most of the UI. Items are so big and can’t be diminished in size and are in the way of each other. If you are trying to use existing addons they are either disabled or non functional in the way the addon was intended. Case in point is. i have recount damage meters which is nonfunctional and that is to be expected on launch before the code is updated, however if you don’t disable it you cannot use a lot of the hotkeys that use the enter key, there is an overlap of keybinds to old addons so frustrating if you use a lot of addons to wonder through which ones are conflicting.
You are not of the few, what you see on the boards is a very vocal minority. In the Beta there is a channel specifically for Dragon Flight discussion and when I was in it testing the over whelming majority loved the new UI. There is just a very vocal minority that will complain about everything Blizzard does. Don’t update the horrendously outdated and inefficient UI Blizzard hates the player base and doesn’t listen, Does update the UI Blizzard hates the player base and doesn’t listen.
All you have to do is go into the options and re-enable, “show larger nameplates.”
everyone is telling you that you can change the size of that action bar, yet no one has actually told you how to adjust the size.
all theyve done is been pricks about it.
i on the other hand share youre frustration. i was a fan of the old UI. it was straight forward, simple, and i could move character frames and turn on all the action bars i needed. i agree that its extremely short sighted to not give us an option to stick with the old UI that weve been used to for 17 years.
they also didnt seem to think how confusing this would be for new or returning players to figure out on their own.
Where get the idea there is only 6 slots on the bar? There is a slider that gets it up to 12. Yes it is 8 bars and it is still basically a Bartender rip off, same slot and bar design with same padding system just that Blizz limits it to 2 instead of going smaller like Bartender.
I logged in just to like and say, I completely agree.
I get not liking it. You can’t help that. Some people think some things are more aesthetically pleasing than others, that happens with everything.
But saying it’s too complex or hard to understand is quite honestly, baffling to me.
The UI is more streamlined and easier to use than any other MMO I’ve played in recent memory, and definitely easier to use than any older MMO out there. It’s even easier to setup than FFXIV (which they obviously took inspiration from with the grid setup and whatnot, unless I’m missing another MMO it’s been done in) because it allows you to toggle things like “target” whereas with FFXIV (unless they changed it and I’m mistaken now), you couldn’t edit the target’s nameplate unless you had something targeted before entering the edit mode.
I will say though, that all of the complaints every single time a patch gets released for ANY MMO, are always, always entertaining as hell. People act like someone came and changed their vehicle at home from an automatic to a stick shift and now they can’t get to work.
It’s a video game UI. It’ll be fine folks. And if it’s not fine for you, I wouldn’t doubt that Blizzard will put in a fully “classic” option for the purists out there. And if that doesn’t work, there’s always add-ons like a bunch of other folks have already stated. If this UI (out of ALL the crap UI’s I’ve seen in MMO’s…DDO, EQ, etc) is going to make you unsub, then I would say, you were probably already at that point and are just using this as an excuse to pull the trigger.
I do not like the new UI neither.
quite frustrating. If its not broken, why fix it!
The community has been asking for a UI overhaul for ages. Just because it is an inconvenience to you right now while the kinks get ironed out is nothing compared to the inconvenience that addons are to people. My idea of simple and basic is not having to download third party programs to play the game, maybe I’m crazy though.
Thanks to the new UI i eliminated Bartender and Move Anything addons… i think some people are overeacting.
You have to adjust it to suit you.
Thats the problem if you are very reliant to mods. And when a new ui patch comes, the game is unplayable to you.
Me, i play WoW on minimal mods. I could still play even without mods. And i was able to play on the go.
If i would be reliant to mods, i would study how to make my own mods. I could make my own mods not relying to other mod writers to update their mods.
Looks like there’s one solution for you. Wait for your mod to be updated. Just hope they havent abandoned their mods. Good luck.
Please quit. Thanks.
This is why we have a minute with NO new content at all JUST to fix our UI’s/mods and finally of course talents.
Honestly, there’s nothing outside of this to mess around with aside from outdated keys/raids that we don’t care about anymore.
Take your time to enjoy/learn the new systems. It doesn’t take long.
SOOO. as an olderish person I am not computer savy. buuut did you know you can you tube how to set this UI up! I did and man it made it much simpler. Now while the server is down i would suggest you go do that and BAM your life is much simpler.
There is also a video there for how to cook toast!
Same here. I love it.
It was broken. That’s why there’s such a proliferation of UI mods. It took me an hour to make it perfect, but now I have a good UI without any mods.
