The true end of automated multiboxing is upon us

Might actually get me to reinstall. You love to see it.

And? There wasn’t a lot of hardware multiboxers to begin with.

Most of what you see now are manual boxers or bots.

Multiboxing has no place here.

Yeah, but 6 is an actually-somewhat-reasonable number and doing it manually enough added tediousness and generally a big enough barrier to entry to keep it niche, with most participants capping out at 2-3 characters. 10+ is going to be impractical for almost everybody.

TBF, the only ones doing 10+ were pvp griefers and maybe the odd raid runner.

8 was about the limit for gathering.

You can only hit a node like 10 times total before it has no loot.

big brane ideas

10 would have been the max for boxers as that is when a node is fully tapped out. The fact remins that it took on report to ban multiboxers, where it takes how ever many reports to ban bots, and they just keep going. Banning multiboxers did nothing to the gold making community as the bots now reign supreme and will keep doing so. In case you failed to notice, the price int he AH remain unaffected, yet there are 1000s of spirits of harmony, or 1000s of ghost iron ore, or 1000s of thorium ore in the AH. Bots now have free reign to continue to do what they do best, and that is dominate the market in everything gathering.

Actually, on my server, prices on mats are extremely inflated, it’s still like 300-600 gold a single pot, it’s crazy.

Almost all of my alts have some gathering professions.

Botting is the issue, not multiboxing.

They severely crippled multiboxing by prohibiting broadcasting software, only to see an ENORMOUS increase in botting due to the lack of competition for mats. Now, they double-down on killing off multiboxing, which will make botting all the more attractive.

Oh well
It is to be expected I guess. Multiboxing was fun, and Blizz can’t allow that.

I would at this point be unsurprised to see them rolling out a new policy on gold transferred from banned accounts being “tainted” though I
I shudder to think of the logistics of doing so.

Perhaps limit transfers off of a bnet account for some period of time after acquiring the gold. This would allow people to move gold about between their own alts for consolidation. So many holes in that though
why bother to consolidate it if you can’t then spend it?

Perhaps an “escrow” system of some kind would be workable. You put the gold up for whatever legit reason you want and it goes into holding for 7 days (or however long the hideous data project that I’m glad I won’t be doing shows is okay’ish) and if the account is no banned the gold transfers. As long as blizzard ensured the transfers occurred that has some potential. The “I got scammed” that is actually “the item I wanted to drop did not and now I’m mad” scenario is only one of many that comes to mind as prohibitive of this
 ugh

Without a GM intensive system tracking and handling such “tainted” gold would be simply a nightmare. Even with a GM intensive system the “blizzard screwed me out of my items/gold/levels/rating/whatever” wailing would seem to be a simply impossible PR hit for any company to risk.

I’m glad I’m not in charge of working out how to handle bad actors in the wow economy.

Good news man.

That is what they are doing. Take the W and go do something fun.

Death to our multibox overlords! May we strike their treachery from all recorded existance!

Just curious
why now?

People have been multiboxing since the beginning of WoW and blizzard was always okay with it. What changed?

Please note: I don’t, nor have I ever multi boxed. I’m just curious.

Sounds like a preemptive change before 9.1 & flying is available. Probably don’t want to see another Nazjatar.

The blur of Druids in the sky & instantaneous herb node disappearances.

My guess is that they’re starting to lose profits on people farming gold for subs instead of paying $15. I highly doubt the vast majority of multiboxers pay cash monthly anyways.

Complaints of multiboxing were reaching an ever high in tides of vengeance as people were lagging out nazjatar as there was some multiboxing on like 40 accounts. It was proving to be something extremely destructive for the game. And also. Lets be honest. Most people don’t like multiboxers.

They took out all of the microtransactions? :open_mouth:

Oh wait, this is about making multiboxing harder to do.

when you buy a sub with gold, it’s $20

20 > 15

they’re not losing profit on people buying gametime with gold.

The bots will still be there. Bots never cared about the rules.
