The times they are a changin...regarding Duel Tournaments for cash prizes in WoW

Then that’s as far as any of us who was not a participant will be concerned. We can certainly talk about it, but the difference is whether they openly advertised the tournament’s rules.

The whole thing skirts the line of what would be advertising such an event, but if it was a “private” tournament, then it’s a private tournament, that just so happens to a bunch of people watching.

If they aren’t talking about how they chose the participants or where that money came from, then there’s not much we can do.

then why did blizzard ban Trollgodx or at the very least port him to Winterspring if it was nothing more than a “private” tournament?

and round and round we go…

Oh and Manzo…they did say it was the first of many more to come once Classic goes live.

Now if I were to start to indulge in watching streamers then I would watch Joana to get insight into quick, efficient leveling.

Joana’s stuff is like the old wow youtubes.

or watching people actually, oh i dunno…actually testing the beta god forbid lol

instead of shilling for donations/subs/money

lol…he is actually and his streams are titled as “Testing Silverpine”

thank you brother for quite literally illustrating the point of this thread

Well this new crowd of gamers think Assmon and that Soda guy are “the” players and have opened a bug report here and there so it’s all and good.

He has a long history of misrepresenting information for the purposes of stoking drama and Blizzard-hate.

this is quite literally what it was like for some of my fellow Paladins to try and convince a certain streamer about proper Paladin mechanics/testing on the beta…

no, i’m well aware of Alex’s legacy - I personally think he’s a ludicrous person and he has himself used his stream airtime to crap all over Killerduki and myself for playing Protection and Retribution Paladin specs respectively

that being said, I do think he was spot on with that video so even though I hate the guy…I do agree with him in this instance…

Looking at the key topic of Tournaments for money, this isn’t the same as the original link.

This is their e-sports wing and if you read the actual license there’s a whole lot of stuff that goes into this. It’s not just someone throwing a fighter list together.

the link that I included in this thread is what was given to me by a GM in his response to my ticket from last fall during the Classic Demo - when I reported Tipsout for hosting such a tournament cash prize tournament - as it was my understanding at the time that the original Warcraft ToS still applied as I have not played retail WoW since Cataclysm

They do allow organised competitions. The competitions are far more formal than that though. I don’t know why a GM would send you that link unless Tipsout actually filled the form in and was approved a license.

well i would copy paste his response but me doing that would violate the forum Code of Conduct lol

You keep using that term, and yet you don’t know how or why.

Sorry, but simply put, it wouldn’t matter if it was on stream or not. Trollgodx was disruptive, and there was no PvP solution to the issue.

Ongoing Harassment

The Ongoing Harassment policy does not apply on a PvP server when there is a PvP resolution available, as physical confrontations are considered a facet of PvP combat and players in opposing factions are unable to communicate verbally. Characters have the ability to address their conflicts through combat and GMs will only involve themselves in extreme or excessive circumstances.

IMPORTANT

  • This policy contains exceptions to the policies currently being enforced on all servers.
  • Though this policy reflects a somewhat “hands-off” approach, the GM staff will intervene in cases of extreme or excessive harassment.
  • Policies governing general decency are still in effect. Actions such as inappropriate names, obscene language, and spamming will be addressed as on any other server.

Other Categories

There are two other categories of harassment that are not necessarily related to the language used. These are listed below.

  • Physical Harassment
We have taken great strides to ensure all physical harassment (i.e. stealing resource nodes, kill stealing, training) is addressed or being addressed by the development team. Forms of physical harassment in the game will not be addressed by the GM staff, but instead with a development resolution, if warranted. This however does not include abusing game mechanics/exploiting or disrupting zones/areas to cause another player grief or distress.

There it is, but, you keep doing that dance of yours.

I read that reddit post. Two things jumped out.
Players that follow the streamers don’t care.
If the streamer says it’s wrong…it’s wrong. Herd mentality

The second concerning is about the PM (ex Blizz or not).
How in bed are these streamers with Blizzard. Probably more than I originally thought.

not in the eyes on Kevin Jordan - the original WoW class designer

you don’t need to take my word for it, but you should at least give credence to what he says

did you have a chance to watch Alex’s video?

Move the tournament to gurubashi arena or dire maul arena. Congrats, PvP solution achieved.

Any other stupid assertions I need to refute? They CHOSE to host their tournament in a safe zone for horde, and rather than suffer the consequences of their decision, they cried at blizzard to fix the problem they created for them.

Sorry, not sorry… They aren’t entitled to a special snowflake safe space and/or any special treatment.
