There’s SEVERAL people whom I listen to. Jeff Kaplan is someone whom I’ve linked to more than once, and who I don’t need to introduce - he designed most of the quests in WoW because of his experience with Everquest. John Staats, the 3D designer of WoW who brought Warcraft from the 2D world to 3D for the MMO. Mike Morhaime, Rob Pardo, Pat Nagle, etc. etc. etc. There are a lot of people who have a lot of different view points.
What we then have to do is also balance that against what Blizzard has actually done. And Blizzard has stepped in in several well known cases, even when people when it made people unhappy.
hence the death by 1000 cuts analogy that I’ve repeated multiple times - the road to hell is paved with good intentions but look at what retail WoW has become and there is your answer…
You clowns are way more toxic than streamers lmao. All you do is sit here and whinge about people all day long; at least they’re playing the game, getting people engaged, and organizing fun events for people to participate in.
because you’re calling us more toxic than the streamers lol - also kinda hard to “play the game” without a beta invite when the streamers got prio access even though I’ve literally been theory crafting this stuff going all the way back to lol feenix
If you hate us so much, why are you SO OPPOSED to a single server where streaming is not permitted? I think we both know why - it will be the most populated server. you may enjoy watching them, but I submit most people dont want to PLAY THE GAME with them.
It is up to you if you to determine if you fall under the category of someone who sits here all day whinging about streamers. if you do not do that, then why would you think I am attempting to describe you? i did not call you out by name.
that is absurd. most people do not care if they play on the same server as a streamer because most people won’t even notice. the only people that will notice are people that seek them out. i play on Illidan and I do not notice a single one of the famous streamers on that server.
there is no way blizzard can, nor should they ever try to, force streamers onto a separate server. “streamers” are WoW players too, and you are generalizing thousands of players because you have built up a personal grudge against a few.
A GM dispersed the group, and banned offenders, warranted or not, because it was causing lag and disrupting the server.
Here is a thread describing a PVP raid from just last year, same issue: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20769527245 - A GM forcibly made a city raid disperse for the sake of server stability.
It would not have mattered if it was on stream or not, if Blizzard had eyes on it, they would take action, even if the players themselves were not happy with it.
And there’s the Tournament of Ages, an RP-PvP event which included dueling, just like this tournament. There were no big streamers, yet Blizzard stepped in all the same when trolls attempted to disrupt the event.
This is also the event that caused Blizzard to disable sharding in Northrend on roleplaying realms, which in turn inspired many of the streamers that are now in Beta to start Project 60. And that caused a lot of drama on its own.
